Yeah I think mine were - but whatever was there isn't there now and the other side looks damaged too... will grab some new drop links and linear locks as Conrad suggests as I don't have those...

nikkinokkinoo 31-05-2017 09:01 AM

Looks like some good progress. Going to be a well sorted scoob.

Nice, coming along well mate :)

Shame about the uppipe/turbo stud but that happens. I did my modine top seal recently too as it had been leaking so its probably just an age thing.

Rdlangy1 31-05-2017 11:58 AM

Yeah not much could be done - only one stud tho and can be easily replaced so shouldn't effect the sale too much I hope :ok:

Modine seal was real surprise as never had an oil leak on my motor.

Droplinks are bigger concern tho - they are only 2yrs and 2300miles old! Pmsl

Ginola 31-05-2017 10:26 PM

2300 miles in 2 years I did that in the last 3 weeks!

Noticed Whiteline do replacement bushes for the drop links, a cheaper option than a complete new set. Not sure when they switched from yellow to black polyurethane.

Think my Scoob has done 10k in the 5 years I've owned it, things tend to perish rather than wear out, the Passat on the other hand has done 20k in the last 13 months.

scooby doo 31-05-2017 11:16 PM

Aslong as the middle mounts are the correct size for that bar and are in good condition Undo the clamps in the middle of the ARB , this will centralise the bar . Giving you around 3mm clearance each side ,
Looking at the pics I'd say tho just a guess that the left hand top link bush is worn too

Rdlangy1 01-06-2017 06:33 AM

Appreciate all the feedback guys :ok:

Shane I did notice they have changed from yellow to black - good news about the replacement bushes although I fear it may be safer to get the links as it has worn through quite a bit.

Looking at the control arms it does seem the bracket holding the drop links has bent and has a small fracture on it so I would prefer to change these also for peace of mind. Although they are fairly expensive so it will have to wait a bit...

Definitely going to order up the lateral locks for the ARB though :ok:

Rdlangy1 02-06-2017 12:23 PM

Well had a chat with Alyn today - ordered up new Hardrace Rear Control Arms, Adapters to change the "C" drop links to straight ball joint ones like the front, new trailing arms, drop links, modine Oil Seal, and Exhaust gaskets..

Hopefully that should sort everything out.............................................ho pefully!

scotty 02-06-2017 12:33 PM

Did you go for the adjustable hardrace lateral arms or normal ones did you also go for whiteline rear droplinks as my hardrace droplinks didnt last so replaced them with whiteline ones .

Rdlangy1 02-06-2017 12:38 PM

Yes hardrace adjustable and no went hardrace droplinks as were part of the kit... my whiteline droplinks have only last 4000 miles anyway so interested to see what happens with the hardrace ones :ok:

scooby doo 02-06-2017 03:14 PM

Very good , will be better , the sti trailing arms (pink set) did the same putting front links on rear

Ginola 03-06-2017 01:46 AM

Later models have the same front and rear as standard (straight ball jointed with no C's at the back, I went for the SuperPro ones, here is one undone.

Steve_PPP 05-06-2017 08:04 PM

Hardrace stuff looks shiny....

Why two modine seals, it only takes one ;)

Rdlangy1 05-06-2017 08:13 PM

Really not sure tbh Dave - I like my grumble and growl but there is no way it will pass anywhere but Lydden... it needs more thought....

Maybe a cobra track back box which I can swap in and out when needed...

Ginola 05-06-2017 08:53 PM

There's a few options, I've got this urge to try an RCM one at some point too lol

Rdlangy1 05-06-2017 09:06 PM

Yeah rob suggested looking at the RCM one....

scooby doo 05-06-2017 09:29 PM

Shinny bits looking good!!
Will handle great . Exhaust wise if you like your system and save some penny's you could have a bubble style silencer fitted in your centre section . That will Bring it down a couple db

Cars coming along tho !!!

Rdlangy1 05-06-2017 09:32 PM

Thanks mate

SamSTI 05-06-2017 10:56 PM

Looking good mate! I'm installing a cobra track day system (3 inch decat) in a couple of weeks.... more than welcome to meet up to see if it takes your fancy or not?

scotty 05-06-2017 11:21 PM

Put some grease on the silver joints on the hardrace lateral adjustable arms or they will rust like mine .

Well ive re-booked in with Charlie at SRR for Sat 17th 8:45am to get the true power reading for the car. I have a feeling I know what it is but ill wait until its confirmed.

Going forward, looking at 725cc RCM Injectors as these will comfortably take the turbo I have. Could go 835cc RCM injectors for same cost, but don't see the point as its unlikely I will get a bigger turbo in the next year or two.
