Good to hear , why so far ?
Looks from the graph that there is more in it.

I hoped there was more in it to Chris but not to be - it hovered around 358-362 for 5 pulls - and squeezed that 369bhp out at the second to last run - 13 runs in total.

I didn't understand most of what Martyn was explaining (nothing new there with me and cars!) but he was saying the uprated MAP sensor I had fitted wasn't needed as the ECU won't go much past 1.55 anyway (I'm lost now as I type so apologies if I make no sense!) and that the turbo didn't have anymore to give.

I must say I was disappointed - I had hoped the mods I had done would have supported more, but I guess a car is only as good as its weakest bit...

It's running well, and holding nice boost very smoothly and idles lovely so shouldn't complain - just thought I'd have squeezed nearer to the 380 mark...

Next year I will make the decision whether to go full hog and do the engine and another turbo etc but for now - she is running well and I should enjoy her :ok:

C. J. 13-08-2017 11:15 AM

Best change your signature then ! ;)

Rdlangy1 13-08-2017 11:58 AM

Next job is to go to powerflow exhausts in ashford and have the car measured for a custom track day friendlier back box on Monday 21st :ok:

Granby 13-08-2017 12:25 PM

To be honest the difference between 369 & 380 you probably wouldn't feel anyway, what matters is how it drives as peak power is only a figure, if it drives well and feels quick then i wouldn't worry about it :)

Indeed

Ginola 14-08-2017 11:43 AM

I run 1.75 on the standard ecu....just need to re-scale the map sensor accordingly..(and remove the safety cut) :D

Through the fueling and boost charts up if you have them Ryan, mid range might be able to pick some up with a little bit of extra timing around 4.5/5k but (might cause det too!)

369/350 for that turbo isn't bad considering top mount and not running lots of boost.

Rdlangy1 14-08-2017 11:48 AM

Think it's running 1.5 boost - will check 👍🏻

Rdlangy1 20-08-2017 02:21 PM

Considering swapping my bugeye STi scoop for a blobeye STi scoop... anyone done it? Is it just scoop and scoop undertray needed? Just think my bug needs so height at the front...

Granby 20-08-2017 03:16 PM

If i remember correctly they are different

Steve_PPP 20-08-2017 03:33 PM

You'd have to get an non-genuine STI "style" scoop as the blob ones don't fit on a bug, the footprint is different.

Personally think the genuine bugeye STI scoop is the best looking on the bugs, they're all rounded at the front (bumper, headlamps etc) and the blob style is too angular. :)

Banstead Stig 20-08-2017 05:11 PM

I agree with Steve.

The bug STi scoop is so good they used it on the FSTi.

Rdlangy1 21-08-2017 07:32 AM

The Bug...

Appreciate all the feedback guys :ok:

Rdlangy1 21-08-2017 12:39 PM

Well car passed it's MOT today - few minor advisories but nothing that won't be sorted very shortly - also got down to Zero Exhausts in ashford.

Met Kevin who is a cracking guy, a specialist in fabricating customs exhausts. (He was currently making a Ferrari track system and American hotrod)

Agreed for him to make a custom track day back box for me at a very very reasonable price :ok:

scooby doo 21-08-2017 08:53 PM

Zero are very good your on safe hands there . I'm sure il be seeing him soon too

scotty 21-08-2017 11:12 PM

Mmmm custom bling cant beat it baarrp baarrp .

Rdlangy1 22-10-2017 12:06 PM

The Bug...

Well back from Kevin at Zero Exhausts... brilliant guy who knows his stuff!
The car now has a modest 3” tailpipe, and 385mm long 250mm wide baffle in the back section. Still with 3” fitment for easy swapping out on track days.

Gotta say on the drive home, It’s was positively silent!!! At start up there is a little burble, but as soon as you put revs through it, nothing! I would even go as far as to say it’s a nice quiet ride now. Well beside the huge induction and turbo noise I can now hear as I am not be droned out by the exhaust

Quality of the welding and workmanship looks spot on!

Is nicely made though..

Granby 22-10-2017 06:34 PM

Quiet, whats that :-D, looks a quality bit of kit :ok:

scooby doo 22-10-2017 08:51 PM

Good stuff, only heard good things about this guy's work.

scotty 23-10-2017 09:43 AM

Thats some quality of work looks nice too .

Ginola 23-10-2017 10:16 AM

Nice, need to have a listen!

I reckon that's got to sort you for those 95db trackdays!

Rdlangy1 23-10-2017 03:31 PM

Yeah should do... I’ve left it on the car so be on it Sunday...

ScoobyStu 23-10-2017 06:19 PM

Hahaha, performance improving parts are more fun but the functional bits are just as important. Looking forward to replacing my exhaust at some point but that’s only because I can’t stand the noise!

Rdlangy1 21-01-2018 10:52 AM

Well minor update - as not tracking for a few months I decided to put the old noise maker back on this morning :ok:

Got bored of sounding quiet!

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...13e53036fb.jpg

No wonder the custom rear section is so much quieter than the cobra... also gave me a chance to properly look over the work done by Kevin at Zero Exhausts. Truely is some top work and amazingly neat welds...

scooby doo 21-01-2018 11:39 AM

I've heard nothing but good things about zero exhausts .

IBenjieI 21-01-2018 11:59 PM

This has been an amazing read :ok:

Given me loads of enthusiasm and ideas for my Hawkeye! Good job dude, can't wait to see this in the flesh.

If you want a real good read, look up Dave's project thread (ginola).

rob and Steve also have good write ups (NL03Scooby + Steve_PPP).

I certainly will :ok:

scotty 22-01-2018 12:35 PM

Thats some nice welding on that backbox bet that would be loud as fook if it was just all pipe:razz:

Rdlangy1 22-01-2018 12:36 PM

Well I did give her a start up when the old back box came off and before the new one came on - it sounded like a meths mad machine pmsl!

Me too, its the law

Neil97rs 22-01-2018 05:18 PM

Now I like a loud exhaust cannot see the point of a nice quiet one lol.

Before I put the nur spec on mine I had all the boxes removed from my old exhaust> not even a back box and that sounded insane

Rdlangy1 15-02-2018 11:38 AM

Well car is off to "Super Jules" on the 24th. Just to have all the coilovers checked over, and lateral arms looked at to make sure all is still good after installation late last year.

Poss going to have oil cooler fitted depending if he can solve our current conundrum of the Power Steering cooler being in the exact same place as the proposed Oil cooler installation gap.

Putting the other side doesn't work due to the horns, and bumper profile (not enough space) so maybe he will move the PS cooler?? Although it has fixed lines so interested to see if he has the solution...

Either way - car will be good to go, and maybe even sporting some new shiny bits.

Watch this space.

Ryan

scooby doo 15-02-2018 04:36 PM

Looking forward to seeing an update , you may have to trim something back to get the lines in , any google images of how others done it??

seventune 17-02-2018 01:50 PM

I get a few metal supplies from zero when i get in a jam and my orders from other places take longer than expected, always seem helpful....

Any plans after the oil cooler and suspension is checked? As my grandad always used to say " Cars are like model railways.... They are never finished " :D
