Lydden looks as if it might be more fun? |

Brands is a better track, nicer location and a nice, professional race track experience when you consider the grandstands, pit lane and garages etc. You are spot on though, Lydden is more fun and great for more of a racing feeling, it's got an exciting grass roots feel about it. It may be a simple little track but I can't wait to do it again! |

I know why they have the limits and blah, blah, blah, but come on, it's a bloody race track and we're talking a couple of decibels...! |

Near side front takes a pounding as you can see: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ec97f82760.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0c2bd802bb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9ed876f25a.jpg |
Well hopefully - here are some vids - although apologies as there is no sound, which really doesn't do them any justice as to how hard the cars are being pushed...
Ryan 2nd Session: (Watch for Jason's Skyline at 10mins 24 secs :ok:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr7IH_P3IdE Approx Fastest Lap: 53.40 seconds Rob 2nd Session: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5-KKlQlLlM Approx Fastest Lap: 52.87 seconds Ryan 3rd Session: (Rob's Passenger Lap) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkwYEyhdEEw&t=12s Approx Fastest Lap: 53.63 seconds Rob's 3rd Session: (Ryan's Passenger Lap) (Note the Caterham kicking up the kitty litter at 6:05 and chipping the middle of Rob's screen) Also chasing down Jason in his Skyline from 15:04 :ok: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OyRHjqZMak Approx Fastest Lap: 52.33 Seconds Rob's 4th Session: (Red Flagged halfway round due to incident) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHWwa4pKqRE Approx Fastest Lap: 54.63 seconds Then for some reason whilst uploading the last vid after the red flag the camera decided to corrupt the file. However I can tell you Rob was atleast a second quicker, last night I timed it at 51.03 seconds :ok: Great day, with great company, and good fun! |
And wowsa - those tyres did take a beating, but you were quick, and did a good amount of laps on them... grip level was immense (my opinion from having to hold on for dear life!)
|
My brakes were only 200 miles from new so needed some bedding in....
I think now they are well and truely bed in - with the calipers getting so hot, that the k-sport logo changed colour to match the wheels on the near side! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...24b3a494fd.jpg Here's the offside and original silver colour logo! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5d63c5b6d7.jpg |
Just watched some of the vids looks a lot of fun! Shame about the sound, nice camera mount position! ;) Robs front tyre looks nicely heat cycled, what pads did you put in with k-sports Ryan?
You could both probably do with implementing some form of ducting / extra cooling to the front brakes, perhaps some wind deflectors on the wishbones 911 style. Circuit looked quite bumpy from the videos? |

EBC Yellow Stuff... have to admit on my first session I was riding the brakes - and where the new turbo has no blanket, by the time I finished I had spongy brakes and the fluid reservoir was at 80 degrees Celsius. After a little heat wrap round it and me stomping on the brakes hard rather than p*ssy footing about, I had decent braking and reservoir was down to 70 degrees Celsius. Turbo hit the dizzy heights of 450 degrees Celsius and brakes 300 degrees Celsius although nearside was always 50 degrees higher than the offside... Track is very undulated with interesting camber changes mid straight and especially on the last corner down the hill... |

Felt they would be a good balance between road and track pads... Used to use Motul 600 but now have PF 600 which has a slightly lower dry and wet boiling point. |
PF665 is slightly better than motul 600.
Your brakes shouldn't be different temps left to right by as much as that, could be one side getting cooled more than the other for some reason, wrap a bit of reflective tape round the brake servo and reservoir + clutch reservoir too, I'd possibly switch out the yellow stuff for something slightly more serious when the change is due, but I'd get my moneys worth first  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks mate - appreciate your feedback... Lydden is all right handers besides one left, would this account for the passenger side being so much hotter? Or am I talking pogwash as always pmsl! |
Well you should be braking in a straight line, but if you're trail braking everywhere then that could make a difference, wouldn't think it would be as much as that but who knows, I normally read about 5/15 degrees difference.

Track Day Lydden Hill....
Apart from first run I was def braking in straight lines -
Perhaps I have an issue - next time it's tracked I'll have a proper look :ok: Still had good time tho - and Rob was like a fish in water  I've never preached that I'm a track nut (prob why I don't appease some people  ) but I did have fun and that in my eyes is what counts :ok: |
It looked great from the onboard :) if the wheel stays perfectly straight when you brake and doesn't tug in either direction slightly I'd say all ok, and maybe ducting / cooling will balance it out and allow you to lean on them even harder

Thanks Dave :ok: Yeah didn't feel like it was pulling unevenly - prob just my dodgy braking  I'll speak with you at our next meet regarding brake cooling and what would be best - ur setup is amazing but I wouldn't even know where to start in doing something like that. Got to sort the rear drop link and control arm swap out first. Then the sump, oil pump, timing belt kit, and catch can :ok: all of which are sat in my office waiting ha ha ha... |
I really didn't like Yellowstuff pads.
EBC quality control seems hugely variable to me. I'd agree that it's worth trying something different/better. |

Thanks for all the advise - it's all taken on board :ok: |
How did you find the K Sports felt and performed compared to your old Brembos?
Obviously pads, fluid, the nature of the track and all the other variables all stack up in defining a braking experience, but curious what you thought of how they stacked up? |

The actual brake performance was good when stomping on them... 8-pots and 356mm discs certainly give u more braking power.. I just think mine could have done with longer to bed in and if someone like rob or Dave had taken them on track they would have used them much better than i... Overall the force of stopping was better than brembos... |
Brakes and speedlines look awesome!
Pictures looked good, nice to have a good drama free day I'd say! Tyres took a Proper spanking but that's lydden for you ,i raced there once (supermoto) and did the same to my tires. |
Nice photos, looks like you guys had fun. 😊

All the pictures and videos came out well, was a fantastic day, I wish I had taken my car.
I could have taken the civic on the track ha ha, that would have been fun..... But I enjoyed the passenger runs with Jason.. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eb6ba9522d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f23a4882cc.jpg Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk |
