Hold on to your hat scotty. Rapidly deepening area of low
Pressure heading your way Friday pm and into Sunday. Looks like the
Strongest we've had so far.

No doubt the Met office will class ir as a storm and give it a name begging with D

There was an isolated flurry on my Forester on Sunday... very similar to that...!

Mortster 18-12-2015 12:59 AM

Probably as much chance as Planet Nibiru / Planet X showing its head in the coming weeks which is claimed to be causing all this due to magnetic pulls and start of polar shift, but you never know, meanwhile I'll enjoy my daffodils in Winter :)

Well below the optimal setting for a classic.

Been watching this on the Model runs for 4 days now. We are now close enough for this to be a concern. The model runs 4 times a day, using live data, and predictive data to forecast ahead. The closer we get to the event, the higher % chance of it being correct...etc etc

At first, this area of LP was just one, and run easterly across northern England again!

The last few runs have plotted it further south. The latest runs see's two strong areas of LP, one after the other with 90+ MPH gust speeds.

Hold on to your hats, Tuesday and Wednesday could get very windy....

The Atlantic is in full steam now, chucking area after area of LP towards us. The posistion of the jetstream normally flings them further north as they make land fall. The current track on a fairly potent area of LP on Thursday is right along the channel, with the highest winds brushing the south east cost. Potential for 70mph+ gusts.

Steve_PPP 02-01-2016 02:19 PM

Oh great. I've had enough of this wind and rain now, can't we have some nice crisp sunny winter days now?

Agreed.

Someone I know earlier said how "lucky" we'd been to have had so much mild weather. That's not how I see it!!

Mortster 03-01-2016 11:22 AM

High pressure to the North East has held this back in the Atlantic. Current GFS shows the area of LP running over North France. :-(

So we're going to dodge the worst of the weather then?

yaaaaay.....not

whats that more Rain or the dreaded snow??

So when will we have the pleasure then???

Mortster 13-01-2016 07:56 AM

Steve's got his wish, everyone cold enough this morning? The coldest night will be Sat into Sun.

Scotty...ready for some white stuff?

We may get the odd overnight flurry, but our day times temps and air freezing height are not a good set up.

Steve_PPP 13-01-2016 10:02 AM

Lovely out there this morning, sunny and crisp. Much better than wet and windy, even if it is a tad nippy :ok:

No snow for the south east then?

iPond 13-01-2016 11:03 AM

Definitely a bit fresher this week, had to scrape a thin layer of ice off the windscreen this morning!

thepieman 13-01-2016 11:12 AM

Snow will be a great test of the snow mode function on the supra... I'm not holding out much faith in it:whistle:

scotty 13-01-2016 01:18 PM

Always ready for snow mind you its been snowing in different areas in the last week or 2 but none in my area lol .

Mortster 13-01-2016 02:28 PM

Biggest chance we have in the south is sun/Mon. Need the overnight temps to be low, then slow to warm up during the day, otherwise is just mush that falls. Monday morning drive to work could be fun

Had snow mode on an Omega, it was as much use as a chocolate teapot

scotty 16-01-2016 01:19 PM

Banstead Stig 16-01-2016 08:58 PM

Do you reckon it'll get this far south overnight, Nick?

Reports seem a bit mixed.

Mortster 16-01-2016 09:41 PM

Theres a 100 mile wide strip heading down in a southeasterly direction, I think it will miss most of Surrey, but London and Kent may see soome flurries. The bonus is that it made it down to us during the night, so will be snow rather than mush. Fingers crossed though.

Banstead Stig 16-01-2016 09:56 PM

It's just started lightly snowing here. :ok:

Rdlangy1 17-01-2016 05:28 AM

When I'm warm enough I'll look out the window and see if I've had a dusting Pmsl :ok:

Banstead Stig 17-01-2016 07:17 AM

We've had a little bit, nothing too special though.

asperformance 17-01-2016 12:18 PM

Nothing here, albeit there are some places in the region who have had some

Banstead Stig 17-01-2016 12:24 PM

There was enough here in the end to get out to the park and build a snowman with the Stiglet.

The roads were clear, so no fun to be had. :(

Hrimfaxi 17-01-2016 09:27 PM

Well the snow in Beckenham this morning was more "sky dandruff" than snow, it was hardly worth it.

I reckon we're in for round 2 soon though.

iPond 18-01-2016 09:58 AM

We had a fair bit at ours yesterday morning but it didnt stick around long.

Mortster 19-01-2016 06:19 PM

The sign's of SSW are starting to show, will know more in a week. I wont explain SSW ( Sudden Stratospheric Warming) as its very long winded and dull...

But it translates to much, much colder weather. :norty::norty:
