IMHO i prefer the standard wheels

scotty 13-08-2015 08:16 AM

What a difference a set of wheels can make looking good Rob .

Steve_PPP 13-08-2015 08:21 AM

Looks good mate, needs a wash ;)

Prefer the 18's over the original wheels, plus it looks like they've got better tyres on so makes sense. You could put some winters on the 17's and then you've got an unstoppable AWD machine should the snow come this year :D

You going to remove the red stickers on the fog covers? They don't look right with the orange indicator lens and the pink graphic on the doors. Know the fog covers only just went on the car so assume its on the to-do list!

Rdlangy1 13-08-2015 10:58 AM

Agreed - keep the wheels and put either winter tyres on or track tyres for the ring next year :ok:

NL03Scooby 13-08-2015 12:24 PM

I plan on keeping the original Sti wheels and probably sticking some winter tyres on yes. I like the option of having some slightly smaller wheels with chunkier tyres should I require them when the crap weather turns up, jusding by today though its already here!

I want to remove the orange indicator lenses from the headlights and get the units nicely sealed back up to try and keep the condensation away. I also want the original stickers for the front fog lamp covers to keep with the black and pink only theme.

A new grill badge was delivered yesterday and is awaiting fitment, I cant wait to get the shocks and springs on either and have the car sitting lower, then its just a case of getting the geo set up.

Let me know if you need pink STi decals done for fog lamps - my mate is a vinyl sign guy - he did all mine...

Love it when a plan comes together...

:ok:

seventune 13-08-2015 05:01 PM

Blacked lights make such a huge difference to the look. Bang on.

NL03Scooby 15-08-2015 04:37 PM

Today's spot the difference...

Ok, so you don't need to spot it but you get the picture!

With any luck the next few changes will be on the larger scale of things but they all add up.

Consti 15-08-2015 04:46 PM

Looking good, I'm looking forward to see this motor. 👍😊

Rdlangy1 15-08-2015 05:12 PM

Loving the pink and black attack mate :ok:

Banstead Stig 15-08-2015 05:57 PM

I've thought about changing my badges for the pink Subaru logo versions before now.

Not had the bottle!

scotty 15-08-2015 06:05 PM

It's a bigger improvement than the old boring one nice work Rob .

As Ryan has said above I'm currently looking to go on a pink and black attack, just going one small step at a time though to make sure I don't suddenly over do it!

I think if any car can get away with having a bit of pink on and being driven and owned by a guy it's and Sti Impreza.

I think it's sits better with a black car, my next step is to sort the fog covers and then concentrate on the boot lid in terms of badges and logos.

Glad you are approving of my work so far mate, got plenty planned and a few ideas going round my head 😊

C. J. 15-08-2015 06:09 PM

Yeah, I think it would go well with my grey too.

I had always planned pink track wheels for mine... it's ended up being a family/commuter car though, so plans changed!

NL03Scooby 15-08-2015 08:26 PM

And now I have resorted to pulling bits off!

This should get the burble going a bit better, why anyone would want to suppress it I don't know 😊

NL03Scooby 27-08-2015 07:40 PM

Only another small step but one that I am pretty happy about, I bought the stickers for £5 and after pulling off all the red ones and giving the covers a clean they have come out ok.

C. J. 27-08-2015 07:43 PM

Nice one 👍

Rdlangy1 27-08-2015 07:47 PM

Looking spot on mate - can't wait see it Monday :ok:

Red Baron 27-08-2015 07:52 PM

Missed this post while I was away, glad you sorted yourself a new one Rob.

NL03Scooby 27-08-2015 08:01 PM

Also removed the Bailey's 'sneezy' valve and installed the standard Subaru Re-circ one.

Steve_PPP 27-08-2015 08:11 PM

Nice one mate, definitely taking her in the right direction :ok:

555_Si 27-08-2015 08:12 PM

Can't wait to see it, hurry up next meet.

Sneezy valve! Bahahahahah :ok:

scotty 28-08-2015 09:00 AM

Looking so much better now with proper stickers and glad to hear you swapped over the dump valve to standard looking forward to some more updates .

NL03Scooby 30-08-2015 01:57 PM

As I go over the car with a fine tooth comb it's interesting what I find out! The boot lid has a nasty spot of corrosion which I want to attend to ASAP.

http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...8f041757d0.jpg

As a start I decided I would remove the 'Subaru' badging from the lid, I am toying with leaving it off and thought I would get a look for the boot without it, after removing the results left behind leave little to the imagination...

http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...72ab1f37a5.jpg

I couldn't quite work out why it looks like this, then after a bit of inspection I have discovered the badges all have lacquer peel too, even the key lock...?! So it's clear the boot lid has been re-lacquered, with all the badges still in place!

I'm going to have to remove all the badges, get the spoiler off then get it booked in for some professional help.

It's a good reason to get some fresh paint on, get the rust repaired and get some new badges in place. There is of course to option of buying another boot lid, time for some research I think.

C. J. 30-08-2015 02:01 PM

I always liked my black bug debadged 👍

When I had my blue one I was quite keen to leave the badges in place, now I have the black one it's seems a much smarter look without all the badges. I want to keep the Sti badging but I think 'Subaru' will stay off.

Rdlangy1 30-08-2015 07:07 PM

See how it buffs up tomorrow :ok:

Steve_PPP 30-08-2015 07:21 PM

The rust under the spoiler is a common thing, check the drainage holes are clear so that water drains away from the top of the bootlid under the spoiler properly. There's one on each side.

When you take the spoiler off, it'll probably be a bit worse under there. Its not a problem if you're going to have it painted though - just needs sanding back and smoothing out.

My blue one suffered with it too, just not as obviously as this one! I am expecting the worse when the spoiler is removed, it will get a good clean up and all drain wholes un-clogged if needs be, will also make sure all the necessary sealant goes in place to try and keep the leaky boot problem at bay.

scotty 31-08-2015 12:04 AM

Looks better debadge but why would someone relaquer with the badges on which is a new one to me as i was planning on getting the boot lid redone if i was keeping it by the time i get to see the car in the flesh again she be totally different .

Ginola 31-08-2015 01:52 AM

I would just buy a replacement STI bootlid in the right colour from a breaker Rob, if the rust is bad underneath (£50/60) and bolt your spoiler to it ;) much cheaper than getting it painted.

Rdlangy1 31-08-2015 09:15 PM

Few pics now robs cleaned it all up :ok:
