Cheers .
Will require some body shop time for polish and paint, so be a while before it's a clean car as lots of plans still so seems pointless getting paint work addressed ATM when il be crawling under over the winter months in the garage. I had a spare hour today so In goes the walbro. Nice easy job and one less worry to think about. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psykq4tamg.jpg |
Is it refitted yet? I've heard a lot of people say the original yellow-browny colour filter sock is better than the walbro one, think its slightly bigger so reaches further into the fuel at the bottom of the tank?
Either way, I was recommended to re-use the original sock when swapping to a walbro.... |
Me too, but spoke to alyn and I decided to use the walbro as it's only few mm smaller and mine had small black bits on once I let it dry out ,
|
I've been passing yours all week and the car looks great!
Have you thought of a small carbon lip along the boot edge? |
Thanks . Not thought any more on the boot side I only removed the boot holes as the nasty spoiler was taken off and I thought let's try doing it wingless , I was going to try the sti a-line spoiler, but my minds been taken off the body ATM and concentration on handiling / servicing . Shall see how it handles the ring then make some notes on that then go from there I guess ,
Really would like the uk300 skirt to give it a more stock look As pictured http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psxnjtwkzt.png http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...pseh3hyxwu.jpg |
I remember taking my STI 5 wing off my scoob for painting.... it was a 94 with a later style high level rear wing.... had KW V3 and just about every Cusco bar and brace the brochure had to throw at it.... anyway my point was I was shocked how different the car felt at mid to high speed without it, especially on motorway runs without it....
Love the chin spoiler on yours dude, looks really nice.... it would be a close choice between the one you have and this one.... like you said already the UK300 for a more subtle look.... depends what your overall aim is.... |
Looking good Benji. If you haven't done it I'd recommend a power steering fluid change and a clutch fluid change. It's probably been in there since new and both mine were black.
|
That's good shout about the fluids . Il check them out.
|
Nice job
|
Today I've retro fitted the MY03 PPP Ecu as I already have the prodrive Y pipe, 3rd cat delete and rear box along with panel filter , pump 2.5 non res centre and grade 7 plugs.
Bum dyno says it's got better pic up nothing exciting but still fair chunk more than the original subaru map. reading up the 03 was the better map and ecutek instead of the MY01/02 cars fitted with the piggy back , not really up in this as only really fiddled with sti's so all learning. |
Really loving the attention to detail on this build, all the nice new parts fitted etc, works wonders for my OCD :)
|
Cheers it's a mega long way of from where I want it ATM but working my way through. Lots of on going ideas.
Be good to get some people's views on suspension so would like to hear how people find there's with the spec they run, I've looked at spending around £1000 on renewing the damper set up so these seem to be the on the list - O.E shocks / eibach pro all new oem top mounts £750 Bc coils softer spring set 5/4kg £800 Tein super advance using oem top mounts £726 Tein flex coils using there top mounts £830 Blistien ps coilovers £1150 using oem top mounts The car isn't a daily and will do the odd track day but looking for good handling not a super solid skipping every where car. Currently running tein springs and handles well pushing it but drives ****e anything else . |
I found the BCs on mine (standard rates) too stiff for road use of probably go for the Bilsteins or KYB AGXs with the Eibach (or even STI pink) springs.
|

The tein fitted ATM look like there far to short only a few coils |
Im running this set up on the foz and i found it good for a daily and went round knockhill track found it handled very well considering the size of it . http://www.pedders.co.uk/subaru-impr..._p28563173.htm
|
Cheers Scott that's now thrown another set in the mix , cool they are ready built
|
Late night wet pic.
No spoiler and colour is it really a scoob ? http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1ahwsb3r.jpg |
I have a agx/eibach combo and a geo for fast road on my 96 sti wagon. I use the car daily and think it's a good set-up and when pushed it's probably the tyre ( Toyo) and my driving ability that affects the confidence in the car rather than the set-up. Incidentally never had the opportunity to play with the settings currently on 2 front and rear. :ok:
|
Any idea on the price of the AGX I havnt yet seen them for sale in GDA form?

Think mine were 6/7 they were good on track but too stiff on roads.

Right back from the ring,
Had good time and the car never misssed a beat. I did 6 laps on the last lap Ran low 9min. The stock caliper with Godspeed discs and rcl6 pads just wasn't up to the job so been looking around but not got the budget for Ap / k sports etc and been looking at brembo but the gold wasn't doing it for me, These latest gen set popped up so I've bought them. They have newish set of PFC pads already. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...pso6fc74ux.jpg I will over the weekend make a order at import car parts for the hardware and let alyn supply the discs. Next on the list are refreshed alloy arms, CDF alk and poly bush So now it's case of fitting these with new bolts and whiteline correction kit. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psekkuwovm.jpg Half tempted to loose the horse shoe and undertray for less nose weight and more cooling but unsure what pros and gains il get I can use a whiteline brace to stiffen up the wishbone sections |
Quick photo of the ring site just need to purchase one.
You can see the tein springs where not up to the job for it a lot of lean. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psie6ebhvp.jpg |
Small update.
Alyn supplied some brembo HC disks to go on with the sti calipers, got some new oem bolts too. Forge heat blanket to try help reduce some bay temps down. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...pssva9e7nc.jpg Next on the list is coilovers as the suspension was far to soft on track so I'm just pondering on which set next to go with. I'd like to sort an oil cooler and oil catch can too, |
Quote:
Check my thread for a hassle free oil cooler - size etc.. obviously you can fit bigger (see Rob’s (NL03Scooby)) thread for his install Also just had the RCM Trak Attack Catchcan fitted to mine which is a nice kit with return to sumo if you have a baffled one fitted :ok: |
Just thought I'd post few phone snaps of bits that I've purchased recently .
1st off prodrive sti sports cat this is the later bell mouth version. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psxxmaipha.jpg A blob sti vf35 turbo http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psfgnd9m5n.jpg A set of sti pinks that I'm going to have flowed and calibration checked. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psh4okrehx.jpg A OPB 3port catch tank plus a couple meters of black tubing. Not sure how / where it's going but something to look at. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps3xzu62qx.jpg A Sti group n rear diff mount that I'm hoping ties in nicely with all my others. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psiuokskmc.png And lastly the brakes are on. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6ig61ebz.jpg The car has its Mot this week so il be cracking on after messing around getting the bits on and joys of heat wrapping items. |
Great progress mate :ok:

Great effort. Wish I had the enthusiasm with mine to follow the same path! |
Cheers,
Don't know about looking new but certainly won't get dirty while working on it, Il start messing around with underneath once it's back together and all up to mapping stage. There's been a lot of small bits done but all carried out by myself. The garage is small so il spin it around lift the rear and start messing around with bushes. |
Stunning, so envious of your talent :worthy:
|
Cheers but no talent there..
Should see the exterior it's filthy and fair few marks but I'm concentrating on underneath 1st then work my way outside. |
Little more this weekend,
New brake servo, ( not doing one of these again ) Turbo fitted. Forge turbo jacket. Intercooler on. 80% there.. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...pssiitirrj.jpg http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...pspggcnlzw.jpg Now awaiting a couple bits, left hand fuel guard , alternator mount and wiring bracket are at the powder coaters so this is stopping play, Need some de-ionised water to mix with the new coolant, Thinking of changing the recirc aswell. And some more wrap for the down pipe then we should be trying to start the thing. Really hope I've done everything correct, |
The engine bay is now complete and best I can be bothered with,
It's all ready for mapping but that will wait as going to start messing around suspension. Few pics... http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps0mmnj2al.jpg http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psgkd23q0i.jpg http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psaksomo8d.jpg http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psh9s20l8e.jpg http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/x...psxmuaxi9l.jpg |
Looks amazing!! Great job!!! :10:
|
Cheers but it's only a mini refresh. I can then keep an eye on it all better.
I'm going to attempt a couple sprint days and see how it gets on. |
Superb effort mate, again! :10:
