Cheers,
Steve

Just spoke to the guy and I think we are talking about £100 for the essentially scrap Bilsteins. I need to find out a little more about the extent to which Bilstein can rebuild them to make sure they are 'refurbishable'.

Bolesroor 01-10-2014 10:59 PM

Update,
Small leak on rad discovered  so having this replaced.

Today received costs for changing shocks, springs + alignment so now need to decide what to do next?

I can either bring the car home as is and wait and save up or just have the fronts done but leave the springs or change the fronts with new springs, have all 4 done and leave the springs, have all 4 done with new springs, fit std kyb`s or go ultra`s with Eibach springs or coilovers are still an option.
I have had guidence from our resident respected spring guru and equally value the other comments + just read RCM`s write-up on the BC`s they sell. I need to lie down :tequila:)

Think I`m going to sleep on it.

Dave were your kyb`s std?

Lucky 02-10-2014 09:33 AM

If I remember rightly the springs are H&R which are good springs and the car sits at just the right height in my opinion.. Maybe just change the shocks if the springs are still in good condition? Drive it a while and see how it feels and if you feel the need later to change the springs do it then.

At the end of the day mate the speed you and me drive around the ring we could probably get away with no springs at all

Yep,daily drive has been Liz`s Disco. It just does not have the same feel in the corners as the wagon :norty:,even at my speeds before anyone remarks. ;-)

Fantastic. It'll feel like a different car I reckon. The suspension should make a massive difference.

Will do matey :ok:

Bolesroor 16-10-2014 09:54 PM

Collected the car today, all good.

KYB`s are adjustable currently set on 2 (mid setting) can go to 4. Ride felt great and very planted in the corners. Will have to play with the settings whilst Liz is still out of action

Only downside is the eibach springs sit the car higher than the HR`s where the ride height looked spot on imo.Although the up-side could be the wagon will go on the drive now, plan to try in the daylight with H on the floor checking!
The wagon needs a good clean but if the weather holds tomorrow I get some pictures up.:ok:

Scott.T 16-10-2014 10:03 PM

Nice one.
I had kyb agx for a while. They were quite firm even on middle setting.
The car will be about 15-18mm higher on the Eibach.

Yep its a shame about the height but I have brought the HR`s back with me though

Ginola 17-10-2014 01:01 AM

Glad you got it back and you enjoyed the drive home :)

Bolesroor 18-10-2014 06:27 PM

Pictures of the front and rear adjusters on the kyb`s :ok:

With the eibachs not lowering the car as much as the HR`s the wagon just makes it onto the drive now.

Gave Wayne a wash, finished just in time for it to start raining :boom:

Fantastic. It's such a nice looking car. So, you now have a lovely blob and a very rare sorted JDM STI wagon. I'd garage it and get yourself a run around if I were you lol.

scotty 19-10-2014 11:42 AM

I do love this wagon looking good now Steve where did you get the kyb's from ?
