Yeh have heard the tide comes in so best check the tide times.
Have you been, what are your thoughts and whats it like for parking ?

What about the Black Rabbit in Arundel.
Food is supposed to be good according to some work collegues that stop there on business.

Very nice pub/food.......very very very busy though, never get parked there in the summer months.

SpecB 06-02-2010 09:15 AM

Parking is in a pay and display down the road or on the small streets or in the harbour at low tide!
If people are happy to go that far there are lot's of nice places around Chichester/Goodwood and on the Harbour.

tbtstt 15-07-2010 12:20 PM

Not sure if this is too late - or to far East - but a couple more suggestions:

Grasshopper Inn, Westerham - TN16 2EU.
http://www.grasshopperinn.co.uk/

Not the cheapest pub, but really nice and has a huge car park. Quite a lot of events there, so you'd have to consult their calendar before everyone heads down there!

Oxted Inn, Oxted - RH8 9HR.

Cheap pub (its a Weatherspoons), but it backs on to a huge car park for the town shops. Always been very quiet when I've been that way on a Sunday.

Both of these are on/just off the A25, and so are pretty accessible from the motorway or other routes.

worzel 15-07-2010 12:40 PM

The good old "Arsegroper" would be a cracking venue.

As you say, a huge car park, easy to get to.

Seems a goody to me

Chunk 16-07-2010 08:40 AM

Been to the Grasshopper for a few car meets.

Good venue, just down the road from me

tbtstt 16-07-2010 08:56 AM

Its only 10ish minutes from my girlfriends, so it would be ideal for me as well - would be great to have a meeting spot just down the road!

tbtstt 17-01-2011 10:35 AM

Another idea to add to the list.

Inn On The Pond, Nutfield (near Redhill) - RH1 4EU.
http://www.theinnonthepondnutfield.co.uk/

About the same price wise as The Woodman, similar size car park to The Woodman as well, but a slightly more central location, so perhaps better for those coming from East Surrey.

worzel 17-01-2011 11:50 AM

That looks like a great choice. It would get my vote for sure.

Listening to them talking at the meet on Saturday, they were talking about the next one in Surrey, this looks just the ticket :ok:

Good call, I'd be up for this as it's just down the road :five:

Its only a couple of minutes from my work, so I've been there a few times in the evening and we had a staff piss up there last week. The food has been really good every time and the bird who runs the place is really easy going as well. :ok:

Steve_PPP 17-01-2011 12:10 PM

thanks Steve, recommendations like this are always useful

we have something in mind for February's meet already, but this is a good backup location if we change our minds!

Scott.T 17-01-2011 01:06 PM

Cool, liking the look of that one.
Could maybe use for May meet but this would clash or be very close to clashing with Dad's Day out at Dunsfold.

Looks good to me,

Closer than "The Fairmile" from my area.

The Fairmile has plenty of parking, but the pub its self ???.

For the summer or spring ..whiteways lodge just o.side Arundel massive carpark and a cafe there. Nice drive round there :CUP:

SpecB 18-01-2011 06:58 AM

Whiteways will be full of power-rangers though, especially on a Sunday!

You've got a few to choose from down that way, e.g. Oyster catcher (Littlehampton/Clymping), Old Stables (Fontwell) , The Crossbush (Crossbush/Arundel) or if you're feeling more adventurous could go to The fox goes free (East Stoke/North of Chi), The fox/worlds end/spotted cow (Angmering) or Even the Pub at the Goodwood hotel (Goodwood).

Snow scoobie55 02-06-2011 07:12 PM

Venue suggestion

What about Salamons in Tunbridge Wells. They do a carvery on a Sunday only (which has to be booked in advance) or it can be booked for exclusive use if needed/wanted. Some of you local to Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells may already know the place or been before but it may be nice for a photoshoot as well if you ask them nicely and the weather is good/nice on the day. Just a suggestion.

Another nice pub is the Poacher in Shipbourne nr Sevenoaks/Tonbridge. It does nice pub food at resonable prices and has some parking on site or close by. ie walking distance.

bazza397 17-05-2013 01:29 PM

been a while since a post was added so here goes what about herne bay sea front pub meals or cafes chippy all there on the front... nice spot parking on the sea front..just an idea when weather picks up better than your normal pub car park :shark:

My suggestion for a meet location

Hi I would suggest The Newham Court Inn in Maidstone her is a link for the pub http://www.fayre-square.com/pub/newn...idstone/p1409/ large pub very good prices on food and drinks also a very large car park. I hope this can become a meeting place for SES in the future that is if you feel it would be a good venue Steve? :ok:

Spot on Steve, actually not a bad place but got boring when we went there every month

Steve_PPP 03-08-2013 06:41 PM

Thank you for considering my suggestion for a meeting venue for SES Steve I hope it is something we manage to do in the future :ok:

thecrow015 25-03-2014 10:27 PM

are you guys still looking for meeting places

Steve_PPP 25-03-2014 10:52 PM

Always open to a suggestion - can't guarantee we'll have a meet there but you never know :)

scotty 25-03-2014 11:41 PM

Inches Gate Brewers Fare Inverness if you are ever up this way awsome food been there 4 times already .

SpecB 26-03-2014 06:54 AM

Sounds good Scotty, you going to pay the petrol!

thecrow015 29-03-2014 06:37 PM

Cheers for the suggestions. As most of our members are outside of the M25, we wouldn't have a meet up the Purley Way as its a traffic nightmare at weekends. Midday Sun was used by Surrey Scoobies for a while before they went back to the Fairmile.

thecrow015 02-04-2014 08:09 PM

ok will keep my eyes open for anything else

tbtstt 19-04-2014 09:05 PM

Another suggestion for the thread:

http://www.botleyhill-farmhouse.co.uk/

Went there today on a recommendation and was thoroughly impressed. Really nice pub, excellent food, reasonable prices and, most importantly massive car park (or rather car parks).

Ginola 04-05-2014 06:54 PM

The Fountain (Ashhurst)
I've been here a couple of times, Wanda introduced me to it. They often holds steam rally's in the large tarmac car park. Great food, a really old English pub complete with beams to hit your head on

(Burgers are HUGE!) ;)

http://www.fountainashurst.com/

Scott.T 04-05-2014 08:18 PM

Cheers Dave, worth considering for a West Sussex Venue.

Drove past here today : http://bridgeinnamberley.com/ looked very nice next to the River Arun (website does it no justice).

Also went to West Wittering Beach, which would be great for a SES BBQ : http://www.westwitteringbeach.co.uk/history.html, parking, shop, good burgers ;) in the Café £8 to park but a bargain if you want to kill a few hours there doing a BBQ, sitting on the beach or just walking around the Chichester estuary

.

Atleast you don't need to worry about parking its got a nice big tarmac carpark big enough for 30+ cars and right next door is a Travelodge if you all decide to come for a visit .
