It takes 14 days for your membership cards to come through, but they phone you back with your membership numbers 15 minuets or so after taking out cover, puts you on cover from midnight that night. There are a few links on the web relating to it. http://nurburgringdrivers.com/2012/0...eakdown-cover/ http://www.meganesport.net/community...p/t-41706.html http://www.retrorun.co.uk/forums//in...-ring-anymore/ I believe Ian gave me the Idea over a pub lunch at a meet a few months back :) You may have to pay for recovery by the ring company breakdown vehicle but ADAC will then refund that cost, or as the last post states they may just bill ADAC directly. There is contradictory info all over the place but you can take this cover from the kiosk building at the Ring apparently. |
This might be useful, Copy pasted from Pistonheads

Thanks - will give them a bell

Bloody Lambda Sensor's......GRRRRRrrrrrrrr noticed mine was FUBAR this morning on the way to work.
Was running 12.3 AFR instead of 14.7 !!!!!! Switching the Apexi ECU lambda control off, had it back running 14.7AFR (ish) at idle, on the base map. Don't wanna be running that rich for the run down to Germany as it will be a bit heavy on the fuel budget. The ECU could run without the lambda but then I'd be staring at the AFR gauge all the way down there trying to map every cell on cruise to 14.7AFR on the hand controller......I'd rather let the lambda feedback do that for me LOL...... Another job for the weekend....... |
need to buy a wideband sensor and gauge for mine at some point. preaty sure mine runs rich as hell on cruise.,
is 13.1 - 13.5 a normal fig for AFR? |
and remap booked, hopefully everything will be ok and i don't have any more hicups between now and the 24th. Just got to get garage to fit manifold and turbo as i have now run out of time to do it.
|
does ADAC cover include bringing you and your car home back to the UK?

That's more like part load of about 0 - 0.5bar boost. |

ok so vf43 turbo and RCM manifolds in, and what a mistake. turbo lag central and exhaust noisey as hell. So going to have to change for a non jap style exhaust pretty quick or stuff a bung in the for the trip.
I tried, I tested, I'm not sure I like. lets see what happens come remap on Friday. |

ps Ive got a bung also, it goes into a 111mm tail pipe. |
Quote:
(PS with all that fitted I wouldn't even bring it on boost before mapping) (PPS everything will be laggy next to a TD04 which makes boost mega low down the rev range) |
Well hopefully the remap will help smooth it out a bit, but it wont do anything about the noise.
|
I have a very large RCM up pipe as well as the tubular headers. Then 3 inch all the way through decatted.
I am going to go 2.5 soon so I guess that will get me some torque back, that an a hybrid 20g. After driving two diesels most of the time, I have forgotten that over 4500 rpm exists. |
thats it, a trip to haywood and scott next week i think to get a quieter back box. no way am i going to germany with whats on there.

got some, but not cheaper once the law fines me for defective exhaust.
|
Revolution exhaust

thanks guys, never heard of revolution, but look good price, though i may have to go h&s from a time perspective, as i can quickly go and get one tomorrow if they have one on the shelf.
if i change back box after remap do you think map will need tweaking again? going from h&s jap style to normal style. |
You will be fine just changing the backbox
|
Have a great trip guys and enjoy :yeah:
|
The Harvey-Up-Pipe is the best way to combat lag, you don't need the Tubular headers until well over 400 anyway.

Is it just me driving around like a virgin race winner on his final laps...... listenning for every knock, sqweek and rattle and wondering if it's normal.
I think I've spent too long driving the other car and forgotten whats normal and whats not...... |

Right, to do list number 2: The snags.,
Fit Milltek back box (cannot even think about driving car with current setup) - ordered from Balance Motorsport Fit a sensible sized and correct ARB for rear (my fault, change of plan) - ordered ADAC cover - brushing up on German now for phone call in a minute. Coolant leak - ordering new turbo coolant hose now, hope that is the culprit. Missing clips from grill and under bonnet - as above Get some heat reflective tape for under bonnet protection, to be on safe side. Julian at Balance Motorsport has come to the rescue with the exhaust and ARB, based in Henfield he does all sorts of motorsport/performance tuning parts, very helpful and seems a nice guy. Worth giving him a call if you need anything, google Balance Motorsport. He contacted suppliers while I was on phone to see if he can get them next day, going to pick them up from him to make life easier. |
Quote:
He is a helpful bloke down at Balance, spoke to him at length the other day about local Geometry centres + settings and corner weighting. + he is only 5mins up the road from me! For ADAC, copied from carven club website "TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP. Phone from the UK 00 49 94 15 23 44 speak to Ms Moser-Wickles , Ms Barbara Lorenz or one of the staff at this office they all speak fluent English" |
The forecast has changed and so I will definitely be taking 2 sets of wheels, running there on the road wheels. and tyres. Just need to work out how to get them in the car...
|
cheers Dave, can't get through at the moment.
