I've managed to get my 2 kids moved around from the age of '0' to '14' in a 3-door cosworth and 3 subaru's. So the need for an MPV now is zip/narda/zero/never.

Wait until they go to university. Our Galaxy was fantastic for moving our son's stuff, just take out all the rear seats and you have a van! Also worked well for moving flats when the time came.

Having had most of the people carriers available the Galaxy is certainly one of the best. It's massive, has 7 proper seats and in 170bhp diesel form is good to drive too with minimal body roll for a big car. It also rides like a limo.

But to fill the brief has to be a Vag TFSI I reckon, whether it be another Seat Leon, Audi A3/A4...

Doesn't quite fit the original brief.
The only time this family will be getting a people carrier is when I'm 6ft under.
Why does everyone want to drive with 500% more air inside a car than they would ever need.
MPV'S are the curse of the 20th century, roll on the return of the estate car.

:agreed:

Budget went up a bit today, as sat in a very nice Audi A4 S-Line on a 2012 plate.
I didn't realise it was an S-Line from the advert, so wasn't expecting much.
However, clocked the seats and flat bottomed wheel before getting the key, and when the bum went on seat I thought Hmm.....this is nice........

It has a huge amount of power.....all of 120PS.....but that helps the screen price compared to the 160PS version parked next to it.

Doing a little research, it's the same power plant as the 160PS and therefore can be 'adjusted' with a little help from Revo, APR, AMD, Superchips etc....to get it upto 210BHP & 285ftlb Torqs.

I think that ticks a big box.

I am coming round to the idea that the 'Fast' SEAT (As very nearly in a position to get a Cupra/Cupra 'R') will tick too many boxes that the Subaru ticks, so I need to reign it in a bit for the family car.

The Audi's are certainly well put together my Mums A3 is as good as it was when it was new 9 years ago.Think it's a good choice but you'll be screaming for that extra torque if you were to leave it standard, especially when the family are in it. Think I'd prefer the estate if it was me though, been stung with a saloon before that I couldn't even get a 20" TV in without unpacking it and putting it on the front seat. Guess you've still got the Ibiza though for tip runs.

Lol.....You know me, already on it and finding the nearest APR dealer, as there option allows you to switch into 4 modes, mapped, stock, valet and disabled IIRC.

They have an Estate as well for £500 more, but I can't really justify the need for it....Oh and it also comes on 18's, the saloon has 19's ;) far more important.

Test drive booked for Tomorrow morning.

It's SEAT's fault I'm looking at it though. After talking to them yesterday and knocking about a few figures, I suddenly ended up in Audi money territory, which made me rethink.

Scott.T 01-02-2015 12:48 PM

Anyone want a Leon FR
Audi's px offer was a joke compared to what Bartletts SEAT offered on Friday.

asperformance 01-02-2015 02:49 PM

you often find whilst the engine is similiar spec the turbo is specifically different.....

Cheers for the reply Alyn
I did a bit of research last night and the 120ps is a pegged back 160ps so that it sneaks into a lower emissions category.

All the major tuners offer the same upgrade for both models with obviously the 120ps getting the most benefit.

asperformance 01-02-2015 03:32 PM

intriguing as ceratinly the older variants always had slight turbo changes to achieve greater power

Scott.T 01-02-2015 04:17 PM

Yeh I know what you mean as SEAT have done the same with the tfsi and cupra variants.
Although primarily those already near to or over 200ps

gtiteen 16-02-2015 09:35 PM

Good choice, my old car! Had always planned a remap as the 160 was a good few k more. Decided against due to warranty. Enjoy the sound system, it's cracking! Smart looking car and when you have the extra power will be a top machine. Never felt as slow as it should have. Small world!

jmcc42uk 17-02-2015 06:17 PM

You can get an nice Audi A6 for that money

Scott.T 24-02-2015 01:27 PM

Thanks for all your inputs.
