looking good.. however to go to the trouble of making a custom manifold and up and downpipe I would have put the turbo at the front as you have made the uppipe length longer which will make it more laggy. Not being negative just my opinion btw.

Simon

Chunk 07-01-2011 05:38 PM

I have mounted the turbo at the top for a few reasons, so that it gets constant cool air through the bonnet scoop, also so that I can make the inlet pipework as short as possible with the least amount of bends and so that I have plenty of room in the front inner arches to fit my oil cooler in one side and have the dry sump tank in the other...and finally so I can get a MAHOOSIVE front mount intercooler in there! With this set up I can get an intercooler with a bigger frontage and bigger cooling capacity than the biggest APS intercooler for the impreza.

Seen it there on a few American cars but not over here, nice to see something different :)

Mike L 08-01-2011 10:25 AM

Looking very nice :)

Where did you get the 22b kit from?

Will be very intresting to see how the BW turbo get on.

Broadside Brenda 08-01-2011 02:24 PM

Cheers guys :ok:
22b kit came from HT autos, the fit is pritty good apart from the fuel flap and its a bit wavy in places. Nothing a good body shop cant sort out.

ralliart didz 08-01-2011 07:34 PM

very nice, that will be one for next years ses calendar :10:

Custom intercooler made now, and its pretty dam big (120mm core). I've made up the subframe to take the intercooler and radiator, whilst trying to keep the weight as far back as possible. Not very impressed with the front bumper as it is totally the wrong shape and fits really badly, so that will be going in the bin and will be ordering a different one soon. Bonnet pins have been fitted and have just made a start on de-weighting the doors.

Steve_PPP 05-04-2011 10:35 PM

sure its big enough mate!?

trying to compensate for something? :D

Nige 05-04-2011 10:36 PM

Intercooler is a work of art. :drive:

Legacydan 05-04-2011 11:45 PM

worzel 06-04-2011 09:27 AM

Impressive kit matey

Tyler 06-04-2011 12:27 PM

That looks like a intercooler of a truck..... Love it mate....

Broadside Brenda 06-04-2011 12:35 PM

Agreed apart from the bit about throwing it in the bin. A good bodyshop can sort it.

I've since smashed mine in an accident however, and will be buying one from ABW

Good stuff, progress is progress mate! You'll have made more significant changes to your car this year than I will have to mine! ;-)

Finally had some decent progress on the car over the Christmas period, should be looking pretty good in the next couple of months.

It's good to see you getting on with this project :) I can remember visiting you ages ago for an MOT on the old wagon and this being sat in the corner, with the Turbo placed in there, looked quite.... scary :)

good stuff! :)
