Will be an unemployed bum by then and wont own a track worthy car

I expect we'll pick one session or the other (am/pm).

Its a 3hr open pit lane, so basically you're on your own to go round the track as much as you like, pitting when you like (when the brakes fade!). You can bring your own lid if you have one thats good enough, or you can hire one of theirs (for a tenner i think).

T'is good fun :ok: but recommend getting some track cover from Moley!

midlife2 16-10-2010 12:35 AM

How much are you looking at for track cover ?

Nige 16-10-2010 10:26 AM

Mmmmm Brand's open pit :twisted::ninja:

I'm sure Gary will be along shortly but i think it was £60 for a day last time i used it. Definately worth it just in case!

Evo's are more than welcome mate

Going to sticky this thread as i'm sure we can get enough numbers to go ahead. Had a brief chat about it with a few people at today's meet and think the afternoon session is definately a better idea for the extra tenner. The signing on for the morning sessions starts at 7:30am, bugger that for a game of soldiers! :fool:

Scooby_Greg 20-10-2010 08:24 AM

Definately pm gets my vote Steve. Just in case it is icy.....

Steve_PPP 20-10-2010 08:35 AM

Yep, afternoon session for sure.

Had to scrape the ice off the car for the first time this winter!

got to test the new susp/brakes:whistle:

Steve_PPP 20-10-2010 01:39 PM

i'll give ClubMSV a call later today/tomorrow to make sure there's enough availability in the session before the list gets too long and we call get too excited then!

Steve_PPP 21-10-2010 02:30 PM

Just spoken to Nick at ClubMSV and he's advised the following:

- Theres plenty of space on the afternoon session at present.
- The session did show 98db on the web, but Nick's advised that this was a mistake and it is actually a 105db noise limit. The evening session we did earlier in the year (with photoshoot) was 102db so most people should be fine for this one :ok:
- If we get 10 names or more from SES, then they'll do 10% off for everyone (which can include extras like helmet hire, additional passengers/drivers, instructors etc).
- If we get 10 names, they'll also reserve us enough pit lane garages for no charge.

Considering we've already got 9 people on the list, there must be a few more who fancy it  Just remember its listed as a novice session.

midlife2 21-10-2010 04:28 PM

Hi Steve, so a instructor can be hired to show the right lines

Steve_PPP 21-10-2010 06:03 PM

yes, its an additional option when you book your slot. It costs £25 but i'm not sure how long that gives you with an instructor in an open-pit session.

midlife2 21-10-2010 06:39 PM

Thanks for the reply. As ive never done a trackday before thought it be a good idea to have some instruction

Moley_WRX 21-10-2010 07:52 PM

I'd recommend having an instructor for sure, made a massive difference.

Another option is for SES to hire their own instructor for afternoon.
Some pro race drivers offer this as a service.

This guy does it i think (and won @ Brands driving Zen's car in 2008)

Sure it'll be fine, we had a few people come along last time to just watch without any problems :)

midlife2 25-10-2010 11:11 PM

How many on the list want a instructor?

Me too. Are you thinking of sharing the cost of bringing someone along then, as opposed to using the instructors at Brands? (no idea how good they are in comparison?).

Moley_WRX 28-10-2010 10:04 AM

This is the guy i used before, he's very very good.
Not bad prices either.... http://www.benelliottdriving.com/Driver%20training.htm

Nothing too exciting, just needs a clutch and the AP's fitted (whatever pads are in the Brembos at the moment are awful)

Lucky 28-10-2010 10:07 AM

Would love to do this but any spare money is going on the car at the moment, so next time me thinks

Anyone else fancy this? £75 for a 3hr open pit at Brands

One more gives us ten on the list, then i can speak to ClubMSV about booking us as a group.

Steve_PPP 08-11-2010 09:29 PM

Will be speaking to ClubMSV in the next day or two to confirm if we'll get any group discount on the 9 cars rather than 10.

If not, we'll have to go with what we've got and get booked up - unless there's anyone else interested?

Hongkongfooi 08-11-2010 09:37 PM

I am having trouble in finding some brake pads in time, either way I will be there even if it's just watching and taking photos

scoobycoops 09-11-2010 08:30 AM

Well, I've got poo news. My piggy is taking longer than anticipated to fix itself and I now have a consult with surgeon on the 1st Dec. and I'm not allowed to drive until I see him.
It's all going to be undo-able as being "able to drive" does not mean "able to stamp it around a race track".
Sorry if this messes things up. I'm as gutted as ... Well very.
