Morning Ryan, sorry to here about the accident. I hope Laura is ok, must have shaken her up if the car was a write of.

That sucks, so is it the pad distorted / dislodged or the Caliper got stuck pistons ?

Pistons all fine and no problem... think dislodged or stuck on pad...

scooby doo 18-05-2019 09:59 AM

Cool time for some new pads then.

Rdlangy1 18-05-2019 10:04 AM

Yeah - just unexpected cost before Germany...

Rdlangy1 18-05-2019 11:07 AM

Speedline wheel nut threads are kn*cked as well so now to find new wheel nuts

scooby doo 18-05-2019 11:12 AM

Always the way. Better to find out now than experience it at the ring.

Rdlangy1 18-05-2019 11:13 AM

Yep - trying to source speedline wheel nuts now which isn’t proving easy

asperformance 18-05-2019 11:36 AM

nuts & pads can be fairly straight forward albeit you can't just pop by and collect...........

Hi alyn,

Pads I’ve managed to sort as mechanic had a new set ready to go on his so taken them -

Can u price the steel speedline nuts for me?

BIG"E" 18-05-2019 12:07 PM

I cant believe youve been driving round with pads like that.

Good job you've found out before Germany,

Ive got some spare PFC Z rated pads.

Make sure you've got some proper fluid too.

Steve_PPP 18-05-2019 12:29 PM

Looks like they've got very hot! I suspect EBC yellows might behave like the EBC blues did in my old WRX 4 pots years ago and basically began to melt at high temps - which is why so much of the pad material has disappeared so quickly (not like you've done high miles with it! ;))

What pads have you got now?

EBC Blues as it’s what was available for a quick put on...

They will do as a quick fix and I’ll sort some proper ones next year when these give out :ok:

Banstead Stig 18-05-2019 03:44 PM

Those pads make for pretty scary viewing!

Timely reminder why it's good to check things over regularly.

Only 500 miles old! But that does include 3 trackdays...

Rdlangy1 18-05-2019 06:30 PM

Great day with my man Rob and mechanic “Super Jules”...

Service work all done:

-oil
-oil filter
-gearbox oil
-trailing arms
-brake pads
-spark plugs
-suspension check
-drive flanges
-wheel bearings
-full geo setup

Car is ring ready!

They'll be fine in the ksports. It's what I've run for the last 5 or 6 years (2 sets) and I've never had fade. And I do tend to really abuse them on track!

The same pads were shocking in the smaller 4 pots but work well in the larger caliper with better cooling.

I do have brake cooling ducts to be fitted after Germany as well which should help massively... :ok:

Heading off to Brands end of July and so hoping to get FMIC, Fuel Rails, Fuel Pressure Reg, Brake Cooling Ducts all fitted and mapped in before then - but what with Laura's car, something on the 29th June, and associated costs, it may be a bit tight

Wiping down with water and a damp cloth!

Agreed it seems there must have been a blister under the paint and where I buffed off it literally came off on the cloth...

Car back over to lepsons tonight to be inspected...

Means I had to bring the car to work and risk it getting bombed by the eagles so I took precautions!

Bolesroor 22-05-2019 10:31 AM

Top man with the car cover , I know you will get it sorted just a pain so close to your trip.

Rdlangy1 22-05-2019 08:35 PM

Wheels and car now with lepsons - I simply cannot fault their customer service and attitude towards problems..

Had both sprayer and technical guy waiting for me as I pulled in..

Chip tests conducted and they concluded that something must had hit the wheel and then the paint chip came off when I wiped it down - but no bother they will sort it!!

And by Friday! Car jacked up while I waited in their secure lock up, pictures taken, wheel off, tyre off, and into the soaker all with 35mins me being there..

Leaves me no way home - not a problem!! Sprayer gives me a ride home in his merc!!

What amazing service and resolution to something that isn’t there fault!

Bolesroor 22-05-2019 09:09 PM

Glad it's being sorted for you :ok:

scooby doo 23-05-2019 07:47 AM

Cool, did you source some nuts too.

Yep - steel ones in black

(Ignore the chip test marks from Lepsons - I nearly passed out when I saw this!)

Oh cool. Glad they sorted it out and issue free.

Certainly do!

Ginola 28-05-2019 04:58 PM

Are the wheel nuts in black speedline ones? (speedline wheel nuts have an insert that goes down the stud inside the wheel)

Glad they are sorting for you.
