I was a parts advisor for ford and Renault up until about a week ago, after 8 years I thought I needed a career change so tomorrow start my new job working as a career/companion during the day for my auntie 3 days a week then hopefully once I've organised a few other finer details I will be self employed and start teaching music / clarinet, sax, flute and piano to my own pupils on my free days off . . .

What part of IB? As in role, market etc.

shorty87 25-01-2012 12:31 AM

I've got my eye on the sales side of things, definitely front office.
I am also finding derivatives particularly interesting.
I'm in my first year at the moment so two more years to go! Hoping to get an internship over the summers to get some hands on experience so I can decide exactly which area to go into after the degree...I've lost count of how many forms I've filled out for internships now!!

Ah cool, Im in the mainly Equity space but dabble in FX and Swaps. Were you thinking Sales trader role? Or services sales?

Can have a chat at some point in future if you wish?

shorty87 25-01-2012 02:40 PM

I quite like the sales trader role, I'm a strange one in that I enjoy working under pressure!!
That'd be great if you don't mind, I definitely still have a lot to learn :)

Network Security Engineer for Rackspace hosting. Been there for just over a year and feel burnt out. Great company with loads if benefits, but if I could retire now (24 years early!) I would. How sad is that... or am I one of a huge number of people thinking the same?

Just need that Lottery win :)
