Steve really nice pictures :10: Jura |
That is quite a transformation there Steve.
Good job mate. Your car looked lovely in Germany. |
Probably time for an update ;)
So... changes since June last year.... I bought an STI spoiler online for cheap (took a punt on it) and it turned out to be crap. But it was on the car for a few months before selling it again (at least i made my money back). This was the car at Japbash in Sept 2011. http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pbash20011.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/Image2-5.jpg |
After that, i saved up the pennies for a while and decided to address my problems with melting front brakes. So at Christmas, these arrived :D 356mm 8 pot Ksport kit from the group buy on Scoobynet, with bluestuff NDX pads.
http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pp/ksport1.jpg They've totally transformed the car on track, and got some serious abuse at the Ring and even more so at Goodwood. They don't fade at all and the stopping power is just nuts. Might have to address the imbalance from front/rear as the below pic shows  http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...92174698_n.jpg |
After the brakes went on, my front splitter got broken (trodden on  ) so that was removed for a while. During this time, our friendly Admins at True Colours detailed the car - well chuffed with the result. :ok:

did your arse twitch
|
Last update.... bought a genuine STI spoiler to replace the crappy replica. Only problem was it was white (off Anger's trooper) so huge thanks to Tangowayne for painting the spoiler and bootlid, plus the new splitter and fog covers at the same time.
Fog lamps removed before new covers fitted, and all now done bodywork-wise. How the scoob looked at the Ring: http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...80638315_n.jpg http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...59439993_n.jpg And at Goodwood: http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...50400013_n.jpg |

Had the car for 5 years now, and finally going to get round to decat/map. Its been running rich for a while anyway so i need to get the fuelling checked anyway.
This arrived today from the H&S group buy, shiny :) http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0280.jpg It also weighs quite a bit less than i was expecting, i get the feeling the standard catted downpipe with all the heatshields on it must be at least twice as heavy. |
Overkill on the finish! Need to drive it upside down now!
Looks great, I have some spare heat wrap and stainless ties if you need some. |

Just put an order in with Thermal Velocity earlier today  |
Very shiny! Should free a few horses with a map Steve ;-)
|
Great write up Steve.
Will be good to see the results once fitted. |

It will feel much better with a little more poke.
|
Have you replaced the up-Pipe or was it de-catted on the PPP versions?

Should get a good 270 or so from that then!

Huge thanks to Ron, spent today over at his place tidying up a few bits on the scoob, he certainly knows his stuff when it comes to detailing.
Got the new paintwork on the spoiler/bootlid mopped so that the finish matches the rest of the car better (rest was of the car was machined in April i think). Nice coat of wax on the whole car too and she's looking very shiny :) Took some quick pics on the phone when i got home: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0281.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0282.jpg Also gained another sticker, Ron found a few leftover from a couple of years back when we had a load made up! Nice and subtle and sits perfectly under the number plate. http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0285.jpg |

That car is an absolute credit to you mate. You can tell its looked after as it almost looks a shade darker than everything else. Some people used to say mine looked like a different shade of black, but its all down to a nice glossy finish and keeping the paint tip top. Be good to see what you end up with figure wise but more importantly how well it drives after. Bet it will be like chalk and cheese. God help anyone at the ring next year, you will be setting new lap records!!

Bit of an update.... ordered some bits from Alyn - walbro 255 and a cam belt kit with all the idlers/tensioner - the car is ten years old now so due its second belt change on age (even though its not by mileage yet). Also stocked up on a few bits like oil, filters (black ones available from RCM) and PFR7B plugs for service which is due soon.
Decided to have a go at the fuel pump swap today, surprisingly straightforward job (thanks to JGM for the brief instructions on his website). Cover off, used a brush to clean the loose dirt away as didn't want any falling in the tank. http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0293.jpg New walbro hooked up, using the old sock as everyone says they're better than the new ones. http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/IMAG0296.jpg Not bad for a couple of hours work (including taking rear seats etc out) - and saved a few quid on having SMD do it for me :) Just need to get it booked in with them for the service/cam belt change plus downpipe fitting now! |
