There might be a little bit dialed in there

They are bloody good coilovers mate those Cusco zero 2's. And although she sits firm on the ground with little or no roll, those who saw my extravegant lane change going to the ring will know what I mean  It does need raising by half a turn though, just a smidge of rub on the tyres.

What rods & pistons have you gone for ?

Cheers mate. It is a good set up for sure. It felt absolutely planted.

I have been looking at turbo's on the Andy Forrest Site. I am torn between the TD05 20g and this:

Scogsy on Surrey had to send his AF20G back twice last year after it failed

Came back in a certain ****e ebay sellers box

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

I have had no issues with my 20g i bought from Scooby clinic . I think Anger has tried the 20g in the past. Worzel have a chat with Anger about the Md / turbo's. There more money & may suite your engine build as your's will take more power.

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

running the AFP5-20 would be a good thing running a larger turbo than you need, It means u have more air than u need, which means u can be more conservative on the timing, and also your not trying to get every last horse out of a limited amount of air, u can just throw more air at the problem, which means overall it should prove more reliable. and also if engine is future proof you can just wind it up a notch
only issuse is lagg

imo if funds alow md321T. on a 2.5 is a wepon!!

I have thought about the MD321 :norty:

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

Then you start looking elsewhere and confuse yourself even more!

Help!!!

Just to reiterate my plans, I am staying topmount, I am putting in the following: forged pistons and rods (overkill on the rods I know, but don't want to go back in there EVER again!) 650 injectors, RCM uprated oil pump / oil cooling / gaskets.

Things to be confirmed: Head porting (dependant on RCM advice), Turbo (need your help guys PLEASE!!)

One other thing I have heard mentioned, is something that Granby has for sale, a winged sump! Worth getting? Please advise again guys.

My target is a rock solid 400bhp, not after big gains as I said when this all started. I don't want to go front mount. Just reliable, bullet proof 400bhp all day!

With that in mind, am I going overboard with the turbo? Should I just go 20g? Below is another screen shot from scooby clinic with many choices. I can't thank you all enough for the advice, it really is very helpful. Thanks to you all

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

head porting is a bit ott for 380-400 imo

worzel 17-07-2009 12:52 PM

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

Thats what I was told elsewhere too.

Thanks for the back up on that one Tone. I reckon I can safely remove that expense from the list  Which means I might be able to afford my defi's now.

Anybody know of any for sale before I start hunting?

C. J. 17-07-2009 12:58 PM

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

If you can afford it Id go md321t or t+
Grandbys sump is an arc and they dont fit very well with standard headers or the laterial ones speaking to dyney about it .
20g will give you 400 but not in the same way a md321t or t+ will , if your doing it once id go t or t+ and some laterial headers with the venturi
Thats what i'd do from asking around .
On the rods and pistons i was asking as i now have a 2.5 block and thinking of a bit of discount on two sets !
Already got apr head bolts and rcm oil pump and a oil baffle .
Let us know !
Also laterial will turn your pinks into 850's for £150 +vat

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

Andy Forrest's is a 20G, just with his own branding and fetling.
20G will be a good choice on the TMIC, MD321 a better one.

I'm not 100% up on the compressor maps for the 2 turbo's but assume the MD321 is larger.
The TMIC flow and cooling efficiency is better suited to the slightly larger turbo as you can run less pressure for the same HP, due to the greater airflow from the larger unit.

Too much pressure on the STi TMIC will split/blow the intercooler at the crimpings.

Both turbos will have a good resale value if you decide to move on at any point in the future.

Sump is overkill imho, if it were a 100% track tool doing alot of track work then maybe a consideration.

Harvey Smith also supplies 20G's for around £750.

Have you looked at the Garrett's on the RCM site......just to throw a few more into the mix...

Yes I have mate

It is the one bit of kit I want to get right. And the MD 321 T seems to be the turbo of choice so far so I can't ignore it.

What of the Garrett ones would be the right one? Open to suggestions on this.

I have got a week or so to choose the right one, so happy to mull it over in here

Thanks again for the input guys. It is good to have the help :yeah:

I have just saved a couple of hundred pounds on my defi's (Thanks Martyn  ) so I reckon I might as well get the best turbo I can

I would just talk to Ollie at RCM and tell him your thoughts to compare Garrett to MD321, then do the same with Mark at Lateral.

Are you getting the heads matched to the 2.5 block ?

Just a quick on fellas

I have found the Turbo and found the price GULP!

But it's the wisest choice from the sound of it.

What size Intake will I need? 58mm or 76mm? There are two options.

I think ive just turned GREEN with envy. I think you need 76mm mate. Im sure someone with better knowledge will be along to tell you

Anger 20-07-2009 06:52 PM

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

If your going to get it new then i would speak to mark about intake size and i'd get the exhaust housing heat coated

Found a RCM 400 turbo what is a hybrid GT35

http://http://bbs.scoobynet.com/priv...turbo.html

C. J. 20-07-2009 08:24 PM

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

58mm is standard and will not need a new turbo inlet pipe or go for the 76mm one and will need a new pipe for it . Mark can sort you one and it is surprizing what a differents it makes .
You will need to cut part of the 6 speed off when fitting the turbo .

That's interesting mate. How does that compare to the MD 321T?

The fact it's RCM would generally speak for itself, I will have a quick look on RCM for some more info.

Thanks for the find, really appreciated

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

Its there version of a MD321H
Its had two owners already makes you think why ?

worzel 20-07-2009 08:42 PM

Re: Worzels 2.5 shopping list

That was my only thought with that one. 10,000 miles 2 owners? :paranoid:

With the fitting kit, the new RCM 400 Hybrid comes in the same cost as the MD321. So pretty much what name floats your boat more.

The MD321T has had too many good things said about it to ignore in my book.

You even need to trim it with 20Gs if your ever going to change gearbox's or its turbo off even for that, bigger turbo means less space
