Looking Good Sam, you need to get to a meet or two this year! be good to see you and the car out and about dude :)

Lucky 16-07-2015 09:57 PM

Looking really nice Sam, as always :ok:

SamSTI 17-08-2015 01:14 PM

Spent the last few weekends clay baring, polishing and waxing the car. Very pleased with the results. I definitely prefer spreading the work over a few weekends than trying to do it all in one day.

Replaced the battery with a Bosch s4 today too, as the original finally gave up! Not bad after nine years tho :)

:ok: Looking really nice mate.

Banstead Stig 17-08-2015 01:31 PM

Very nice.

I'd much prefer to spread the load over a couple of days, but I tend to only get a limited window of opportunity so have to go for it!

It's incredibly clean.

There's barely a panel on either of our cars that some div hasn't put a blemish on, even if it's only minor. Little door dings and chips and what have you! :splat:

Matt23 17-08-2015 06:10 PM

Looking very clean and tidy, excellent job you've done there :10:

The double entendre was not entirely accidental. :D

SamSTI 08-06-2016 02:48 PM

Well after nearly four years of keeping her standard ish, I've finally got around to some suspension mods.

She spent the day yesterday at SMD to install:

Tein flex z coilovers
Whiteline 24mm rear ARB
Whiteline bump steer correction kit
Whiteline rear camber bolts
Scoobyworld front strut brace.

Oh and some lovely new wheels thanks to Ginola :)

Scott.T 08-06-2016 09:24 PM

Looks great and wheels look good, but I prefer the old ones ;) and wish they would fit a classic.

SamSTI 08-06-2016 10:33 PM

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
Looking forward to giving her a spirited drive tomorrow evening to test the current setup.... May need a few tweeks :)

Don't worry Scott the old wheels aren't going know where. They're getting a well deserved refurb and maybe a nice set 888s to suit ;)

nikkinokkinoo 08-06-2016 11:14 PM

Another little update today. I wasn't to keen on my old gauges, so got some defis fitted today with some hel braided brake lines also.

I do have one question regarding the warning peak/bleep thingy. I wasn't to sure what to do the boost at? I've put it on 1.4 bar at the mo. Would this be correct? Car is on standard map till next month.

Look good Sam, I wanted some Defi's so so bad but couldn't justify the cost, especially as there are many other areas on my car to plough some cash in to.

Think on standard it will be 1.2 bar tops so 1.4 should be fine as a warning mark, I await a more knowledgable owners to confirm!

Cheers Rob. I wanted some for ages too, finally went for it... Which reminds me, if any one chats to the other half at future meets, these are dirt cheap! Ok! Lol:whistle::wife:

Ginola 05-07-2016 08:28 PM

set 2 bar for oil low (it will get down near that at idle when its hot), 115 for oil temp and 1.4 or 1.5 for boost will be fine they tend to over read by a tiny bit anyway ;)

They look really good in blue :)

Red Baron 05-07-2016 08:59 PM

I had wondered what was good and what was bad for oil temp, the Passat was hitting 99°C on the motorways yesterday.

Bad was me on the ring with bolesror in the passenger seat I think I hit 126 degrees :-?
It was a very hot day though and muggy.

Normally on road I can hit 105 sat in traffic for ages, its nothing to worry about really, oil starts to break down at very high heat. far north of 120 for most synthetic oils.

bigemp 06-07-2016 08:36 PM

defis look much better sam

Standard boost is 1.1bar so 1.4 warning will be fine.
But you may have to push it up to 1.5/1.55 after the remap.
As mentioned they do over read a touch by about 0.5-0.8bar and your remap should be peaking close to 1.4.
