Sent the Car off to JGM for mapping, He made 351.1bhp which i was very happy with, Simon was not able to road map it as it had no MOT or Tax at the time so i got that done and guess what happened a day after??? Yep i broke my gearbox, second gear syncro went.. Slave cylinder went and causing me to break the second gear syncro, so managed to get my misses to drop me to Dans the next day and got a slave cylinder off him.. But now with this issue of not having a second gear there was no point me going to see Simon for the road map, so waited till another five speed come up. Then after i had got it my misses decided to surprise me with a complete 6 speed setup, including R180 diff shafts and rear brembo setup.. VERY happy bunny :)
Managed to fit it all last Sunday but noticed i had a few issues, my downpipe was hitting the gearbox craddle and i had a water leak :( So went to see Dan and John and they sorted it all out with just mne turning up out of the blue, which i really appreciated. So that was all sorted, managed to sort out my passenger window issue also which turned out to just be a bent Pin on the switch.
So now all that was needed was the fine tune by Simon, so went down there yesterday and he has worked his magic and sorted the Kangarooing and set the launch control for me... Which i am over the moon about..
Power is really nice but want more now that i have the 6 speed box looking for a MD321T, also went to Canada Coach works to get a estimate on my front bumper and then all i need is to get rid of the front lights and either go for Morettes or Crystal.. So all coming together now... :)

The present from my lovely misses..

nearly sold the car a couple of weeks ago as didnt know if i could afford to keep it as was moving in with my new misses. But she did not let me sell up and offered to sell her own to help us, but we decided in the end to keep both and now i have started tuning her 2.5 Focus st Turbo... Tyler 10-10-2013 10:38 AM

Managed to get turbo inlet pipe in which was not fun with standard fuel rails and lines still attached.. Painted top pipe black as well, just going to send injectors off to be customised to 900cc and flow matched at lateral performance.

Tyler 10-10-2013 02:03 PM

Yeah just a little, it was all over a period of time though... Just need injectors, and the lateral performance exhaust manifold and up pipe. then off to get mapped hopefully... :)

Tyler 13-10-2013 07:44 PM

800cc injectors should be purchased this week, then just need to get exhaust mani on as well as turbo, and customise the gearbox cradle as it's hitting my 3" down pipe.. So slowly getting there..

Its not the easiest of things to do, but as i have done it a few times now you learn, and you learn quick..

Easiest way i have found so far is to use a trolly jack to bring it down and jack it up in place.. But either way it is a lot easier on a ramp, as the first time i did it was at my mates work place.

Tyler 16-10-2013 09:54 AM

These turned up today..
http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb9a334e.jpg
My 800cc injectors :)

Tyler 17-10-2013 09:34 PM

Got a few bits done today, power steering pump alternator in ac in and injectors are in. Run into 2 issues,

1 can not remember which injector cable goes to which injector on the drivers side, as my bits of tape came off :(

2 the injector connector doesn't fit :( think I need a top slot connectors

Think I need a phase 2 connector or something... Joy...

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...psd78a9dae.jpg

Tyler 20-10-2013 09:23 PM

Tidied up the engine bay and done a few little bits today

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8ef416d1.jpg

Also brought one of these

http://www.road-angel-blackspot.com/...Gem_Deluxe.php

Tyler 24-10-2013 11:41 PM

Sold my injectors as was not keen on cutting them down to make them fit and funny enough the same injectors came up forsale but with the plugs as well. But these plugs were pretty mint condition.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps27a87729.jpg

So took the old connectors out and new ones in, which was surprisingly easy.

Got some of the pipe work in and rest of the electrics in, hopefully manifold will be back tomorrow so I can fit the turbo as well.

Looking to run without a DV as don't like them as I was told that the md turbos can support dv delete... Well I hope so. Just need to find some dv blanking plugs from somewhere..

Bud when I started modifying my car I had no clue at all, I had never taken a car engine part before, it was a mixture of help from forums and just giving it a go.

Cheers Matt, fingers and toes are crossed.. ow and the floor mates look and fit perfect mate. Love them

Tyler 11-11-2013 09:33 PM

Well the car is filthy now as have clocked up 100miles with no issues. (Touch wood) thanks to simon absolute legend for coming out to me to do the base map, but I only think it was because of the bacon sarney, I do make a mean sarney.. .. Then drove upto dan at surrey subaru specialist to test and heli coil one exhaust stud, dan and john where great for squeezing me in at short notice.. So all go for Wednesday. Fingers crossed...

Tyler 13-11-2013 08:08 PM

Well today did start off well but when I got home turned into a disaster. Made good power but turbo decided to give up when I got home.. Gutted!!!!

Sounds like the bearing has gone on the turbo. There is no smoke but it now does this..

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5a44fdd2.mp4

Wondering if there is a water or oil blockage to the turbo, have no clue how to find out but this is pretty much how the other turbo gave up too.. Wow I feel depressed..

But for the 1 hour it was working it was lovely..

Here is what it made, not that it counts now

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5a9da41f.jpg

Think it's time to get rid of the Scoob and buy something reliable

Hongkongfooi 13-11-2013 10:03 PM

The highs and lows of scoob ownership in a day huh. Gutted for you:splat:

Bytes 13-11-2013 10:20 PM

Ouch, that's bad news :( ... and it was going so well too ;)

bonner 14-11-2013 12:06 AM

Nice power matey gutted for ya on the turbo! and after all it is just the turbo!! can you not have it rebuilt? or just fit a ihi series??

Tyler 16-11-2013 06:48 PM

Cheers guys, sadly it's one of those turbos that can not be rebuilt. Well so I keep being told.

Right well today I snapped out of my sulk put the car back on axle stands and turbo is now out.

There was oil in the oil way when I took it off and there was water coming out of the water feed pipe, so from that side of things all is good. I will be shipping the turbo off to be assessed, not repaired. Defiantly bearing issue (even though I knew that before I took the turbo out)

Here is a couple vids of the turbo on and off the car, there is a little play in the shaft but when you spin the turbo you can hear the bearing. So wondering if oil restrictor was wrong.

Vid of turbo on the car

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...psf0fccb48.mp4

Vid of turbo off the car

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8880b59e.mp4

Turbo Dynamics said they will assess the turbo for free and will ship it back to me to see if we can figure out if it was just coincidence as the turbo is just so old.

Tyler 21-11-2013 07:22 PM

Well this is how things stand at present, turbo is apart, impeller cold side is fine luckily.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps71a139bf.jpg

Compressor housing is fine and has been cleaned.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps357a494a.jpg

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5cef4815.jpg

Failure was hot side cartridge which in below picture is the part at the back of the shaft away from impeller

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5970a63d.jpg

In the below pic you can see where the hot side turbine was slightly touching the exhaust housing.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...psd4759bae.jpg

New Gt30 bearing kit on route, and also a slightly smaller exhaust housing is on the way with hot side turbine.

Tyler 29-11-2013 11:25 PM

Right well turbo is nearly complete, just waiting on my 7cm exhaust housing.. Seriously can not wait. Little sneak peak..
