Doubt it was 'mopped', more likely just filler heavy polish or glaze top coat masking the 'chamois' drying scratches........
Pretty sure you'll 'buff' them out easily enough, just work backwards on the 'cut' level......... being black / dark after polishing don't forget to wipe over with a spray of IPA/water mix (isopropyl alcohol) to get rid of any residues before Glaze and sealants and it'll come up lovely:ok: |
Thanks Ron :ok:
The holograms are shocking tbh but it wasn't sunny enough to capture them.. Ryan |

Well little update - the car went in to Southend Audi last sat, and I drove home a 65 plate White A6 S-Line Ultra Auto. Never driven an Auto before but after a day or two - im loving it ! 7-speed, and pulls lovely!
Had a phone call on Weds from Audi, the gear lever vibration they couldn't fathom out, so have put a new clutch & flywheel in for good measure :ok: The wheels are going to be re-furbished once more, and diamond cut properly (they were only painted last time, not diamond cut!). So I have the White A6 for another week (unless they call Sunday to pick mine up). |
Well off to pick her up - gonna give the alloys a real good inspection as they reckon they have been fully refurbed and diamond cut all within 6hrs - I'm dubious! But will give them the benefit of the doubt until I see them.
Have a 650 miles drive Sunday and Monday so that will be a good test of the new clutch and flywheel and also its economy :ok: I will let u all know what I find when I get there :ok: |
Does look smart.
Hope it's all sorted now. It's a total ballache when you get niggles straight away. I had a problem with the Forester on the drive home. Took a while to resolve, but five years on it's not resurfaced, so they must have sorted it! |
Well picked car up - gearbox feels ok.
Wheels have been diamond cut again, BUT not lacquered and have a lip where the cnc machine has started: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psscwiinn3.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ps65abspvf.jpg As such, they will arrange to have lepsons come and collect the rims and do it all again properly including re-laquering. No point me having them diamond cut and not lacquered as they will just pit and rot again. Bonus is that I managed to get a new boot liner rrp £65 thrown in free of charge for the hassle :ok: Ryan |
Are you sure their not lacquered as they use a satin lacquer, normally with a gray tint to tone the bling down.

New Nut covers from ebay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Au...WCQqMPqIMhVK1g
I have no idea why they always go white. I put it down to acid based cleaners but surely not everyone is using that. |

Yeah def not lacquered - I compared it to the new cars and showed the sales guy and its def just bare metal. |

Well car is back with me - and all is good!
Wheels have now been lacquered and everything is hunky dory! Can't knock Southend Audi - my boot mat came in on the weds and on the Thurs they sent a driver down from Southend to my works just to drop it off! Great service :ok: Gave it another wash at the weekend and all is well - need some decent weather to get the machine out though - don't fancy clay barring and then machining when its so cold the water is semi-freezing as it hits the car !! |
Have you tried a Clay Mitt before Ryan? saves alot of time on claying, (if the paint condition is not too bad)
|
Quote:
I haven't no - but I have a clay sponge which I guess is very similar. However the car is quite bad. Might get away with the clay sponge on some bits but def not the lower doors and sills etc |
Glad you got it all sorted. Cracking looking car :ok:

Well a little update - I was unable to remove 100% of the scratches and swirl marks from the Audi myself, so enlisted the services of Daryl down at Offset Detailing, Essex.
A fantastic guy - really knows his stuff, and the car is now protected for 24-36 months. A full two stage paint correction detail, and then Kamikaze Miyabi Coating, Kamikaze Infinity Wax coating on the paint. The wheels have been sealed with Gtechniq G5, and the leather inside with Gtechniq L1. The Engine treated with Aerospace 303 sealer. To say I am happy with the results are an understatement! 50:50 comparison: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pstrgru6my.jpg Mirror done - door not done: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pscyzuumpk.jpg Side Done: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psd9hfgk76.jpg Close up 50:50 - http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psouh3umvb.jpg Bonnet done: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psuqxtepeh.jpg Engine done: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pslfiopw0a.jpg Wheels and Tyres Sealed: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psz8arempu.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psw47vri8t.jpg Finished: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psl8vsukak.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psl57xoq7l.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pshjwasjif.jpg |
Looking very smart question is it bird **** proof now lol .
|
Yeah should be! the Miyabi is a ceramic glass sealant coating - so pretty tought stuff. The infinity wax is also part glass coating so again, pretty resilient to the bird cr*p! Although with me, if a bird does use it as target practise, its only on there for a few hours till I get home anyway :ok:
|
That's looks great :10: The mirror pictures really shows the difference.

No S-line badge ?
Was it a different fit |
Had a 5min try of fitting it - the gap is there - but it doesn't stay secured.
Figured I was being thick, and haven't had chance to try again since. It tucks up up the fin in the grill, then pulls to the front but doesn't lock in place - it just falls back out. I haven't forgotten it :ok: |
Looks like they did a good job with that :ok: Would like to get the Scoob done at some point but have a few other things i need to get round to first.

If it doesn't fit I may have a use for it on the A5 ;) |
how much was that paint correction and everything? need to get my Merc done.
|
looks like a cracking job, I trust you got a good deal! :)
|
Total cost should have been £890 - I paid a lot less :ok:
No worries Scott - I'll bring to a meet for you :ok: |
Well another small update...
Car has gone back AGAIN under warranty to have the wheels done for a THIRD TIME! Also having the front bumper resprayed as the laquer has started peeling off the corner of that too! Getting slightly fed up with it keep going back but glad it's all under warranty. Only benefit this time is I have this to drive.......... http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psk6omoayi.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ps2rahtlv6.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...psqagmyems.jpg http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...pshil2r82e.jpg Audi A6 Allroad Quattro. V6 engine - over 200bhp and pulls like a train! Best bit is electronic suspension which lifts the car quite some distance when in Allroad mode. :ok: |
A client of mine has the bi-TDI Allroad and loves it.
