Eurotunnel all paid for, I also need some paint work sorting, but having done around August.
I'm sure I'll collect some more stone chips while in Germany.

well I was hoping I could twist Jo to get a Focus RS so we could take that to the Ring, I even offered to sell a Scoob! but hence I failed, maybe should have tried harder, as I can normally win her round.

Anyway it's French, front wheel drive, well equipped...............................

and boring.

A new 2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Line, with most of the options available, though I did have to untick the glass panoramic sunroof and full leather seats, other wise all my Scoob money would have gone!

Needless to say, I still need to sort a Ring car out.

I do like the Focus RS, but Peugeots are well built these days.

Saying that I had a 205 Gti 1.9 and that was a cracking car.

Will that mean I can't chase you back to the hotel? I did like your Mercedes-Benz.

Probably a very wise choice as that sounds like a terrible combination, if left in the sun those seats would have stripped flesh from any bare skin. I've been contemplating a set of seats from a Passat sport to replace my leather highlines as they're unbearable in the summer.

scotty 14-03-2017 08:39 AM

Wouldnt you have the RB5 ready in time as it didnt look like it needed much to be done to it from the last time i saw it .

Had the Leather/Alcantara retrofitted in my Passat, was a good combination.

it's amazing how much I can ruin a car in a year, no stuff is half fitted at moment, no mot, and the rear arches need sorting out indeed. so going to abandon taking Scoob. Not sure what is going yet. we have a Plan A,B & C.

The Mercedes has been upgraded a bit again, but hopefully will be taking something else. Though I will be prepping it just in case. but after doing 25k miles a year in it, I don't really want to spend a holiday in it as well.

Deposit paid.

Car booked in for service, tyre research underway, need to get a wheel alignment done, bit tram liney and do a track day here to see how she goes on the track. Probably should check the subframe at some point too :-)

I took the advice of everyone else on here, even though I have a nissan s14a rear wheel drive, 370bhp, I used Goodyear eagle F1s.
They have been brilliant as an, A to B tyre, they got me to Germany, five laps on the nurburgring and around 40 laps at Lydden hill, there still going strong with loads of life left.

Don't get me wrong, if you want to push the limits I would get r888s but as mine is rear wheel drive I wanted a tyre that would keep on the track.

As I found last year the nurburgring has is own weather, the start of your lap could be very try and hot with loads of grip and half way round you've had a rain storm, your then driving like miss daisy, or drifting.....

I found the Goodyear F1's terrible on track with a Supra TT at Snetterton

Could be the weight of the car, supras have fat and heavy arse, one of my favourite cars.
My 200sx weight is just over 1000kg, which could mean the tyre isn't getting to hot.
I had some toyo t1rs and I melted them at Lydden, they looked like an f1 tyre after running over all the marbles.

ive had the same tyres for 2 years !!  including out to Germany, laps and coming back.....says all you need to know about my driving ! pmsl !

Anger 15-03-2017 01:44 PM

I need new tyres at the mo to get my car back on the road, can't make up my mind what to get

Rdlangy1 15-03-2017 02:37 PM

Eagle F1's for me...

Dave ran Eagle F1's at the ring and big E as well I think (correct me if wrong) and had super results...

Apparently BMWs are too heavy for 888's and they overheat.

I assume the hawk is never going to be your daily driver, so its got to be a semi slick hasn't it? Then depends on your budget.
For cheap..NS-2Rs as they now come in 100 compound.
More £££ then i'd go Cup 2's or R888R's.

Well is hasn't moved in coming up to 5 months now so you could say that ;)

Yeah might try the NS-2Rs out again, have R888's on at the moment but they are nearly finished

Only because I couldn't be bothered to re-fit to 888s weather was unpredictable last year, In fairness to the Goodyear's they still managed 10 laps without too much scrub off, although the edges where a little worse for ware and they did start to overheat half way through a lap, you needed to be aware you where on road rubber and not a semi slick while pushing on, same set is still on for road use at the mo.
My new wheels didn't arrive in time last year to make switching easy.

Torn between R888R and Nankang AR'1's for next set the AR1 are 80 ware rate.

Hadn't even heard of the AR1, damn they look sticky if they're 80 compound

Not a bad price for 225/40/18 either :)

Steve_PPP 16-03-2017 03:36 PM

Passport received, tunnel booked :ok:

Used £40 of tesco vouchers and total return trip was £132.... so just had to pay the £12, bonus :drive:
