Couple of trivial bits on the go while I'm sorting out the wiring loom plugs and pins etc...

First thing was to get a set of late model individual coils. Hopefully this should help with the performance and if nothing else makes for a nicer tidy engine bay in loosing the mid mounted coil pack and bright red HT leads!

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps3exsykc8.jpg

net result without the coil in there.... much neater

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pszpdmfgy0.jpg

The other thing I have been poking around at is the lights. I have seen a couple of the version 5/6 cars with modded blacked headlights. I think it look very cool so I have set about doing mine. There was another small issue to tackle too. As I have the oil cooler one side of the front bumper and the power steeing pump the other I have removed the indicators and little black plastic infill from the bumper. My decision was to move LED indicators into the side light housing whilst blacking them. I used a set of LED bike indicators.

Started with these:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psokpatyz3.jpg

Then did this:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psc8gdvc2k.jpg

Threw them in here:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pszvekjacq.jpg

And wayhay:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psp7wesooc.jpg

So with the indicstors and side lights in the one housing I can set about ducting the cooler and pump :D

Oh and here is a painted pair next to the pair I'll be doing in the morning

Ginola 27-05-2015 10:48 PM

Liking the indicator mod :) I'm neither for nor against the blacked headlights on a classic, need to see them on the car done to decide which side to fall on :P

seventune 29-05-2015 11:13 PM

I was fairly chuffed with the indicators to be honest. I was thinking for ages about the best way to get an LED strip in somewhere that would work and all that rubbish. Then when up stairs in the shop to get some fittings for a job and what's on the shelf. Set of cheap led bike lenses. All of a sudden it seemed so simple!

I like the black lights but I know it one of those things that splits people. I saw a US 2dr on the North American Scooby club in white with blacked lights and it just looked cracking. Whilst my main headlights are in very good nik the side lights are looking old. I'll keep my eyes out for a good condition pair as of and when.

I'll pop some pics up once the grill and bumper are painted and back on.

So waiting for some bits ti turn up and again.... I haven't been about to just leave the old girl alone.

Started playing with the intercooler pipe work. Because of the blue fittings on the fuel lines and headers tank I decided to accent them with titanium pipe work.

All chopped and a test fit once it's all tacked up.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psmphslzv8.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps1udjxjbw.jpg

Then a bit of heat before welding to colour it...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pspcqo3bzh.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psrydpfgze.jpg

Oh.....

And this happened.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps1fy80m6e.jpg

seventune 16-06-2015 04:16 PM

Lots of welding and the second ic pipe to do.

Red Baron 16-06-2015 06:43 PM

May be a lot of work but looks great

Ginola 16-06-2015 07:44 PM

I do like titanium!!

KevP84 17-06-2015 09:01 PM

seventune 23-06-2015 10:28 AM

New colour; but first a big mess!

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pstgv7k8xf.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psybjki7iz.jpg

seventune 13-07-2015 04:23 PM

Right. Scoob is leaving the workshop tomorrow to go home as I'm taking some time off work for a bit and it will give me something to keep me occupied :D

I have started really chomping away at the inner arches now to suite new wide arches. I've also a ordered a couple of bits off ABW that will need to be modded a bit to suite the wide arch width. Becuase everyone needs wide body impreza in their lives.

Also ordered a few guages that turned up this morning.

Oil pressure
Boost pressure
Air/fuel
Oil temp
Water temp
Exhaust temp

Also a dash pod to suite. Once these bits are in and body is done I'm going to do the loom and get it mapped.

seventune 15-07-2015 12:05 PM

Well. Can went on a transporter yesterday and found its way home so I could get cracking with the body. I hadn't finished the 2nd two wheel yet hence the yellow ones :D

On the transporter and off she goes:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psyz1pauye.jpg

Hour later and the old girl is home; lots to do:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psnvkkrooz.jpg

That was yesterday. Being off today I started setting about the arch work. There is a bit of shaping to do and I'm. Waiting on some bits from ABW.

First off. 18x10s all round.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps1ujwp83n.jpg

The some arches :D

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psoru2vv8k.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psn8m6hfb0.jpg

Red Baron 15-07-2015 12:47 PM

Like the fact you've split the arch where it joins the front bumper, will you do the same on the rear ones?

seventune 15-07-2015 02:40 PM

Yes I will. Not sure how I will shape the bottom of the arch Yet so just left it alone for now.

Smooth and phat.......... I like! :10:

Bytes 19-07-2015 07:47 PM

Great progress and damn, that's wide

Ginola 19-07-2015 08:02 PM

Looking good! such alot of progress!

KevP84 20-07-2015 02:10 PM

youve been busy, coming along very nicely.

seventune 20-07-2015 03:49 PM

Thanks guys. Yes tucking is as promptly as I can. Got a busy week this week so trying to get it done. I'm happy with it so far.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pscrz35gpr.jpg

seventune 25-07-2015 01:42 PM

Chipping away at the tasks left to do. Test fitted the guages to make sure I can see them all from the old drivers seat. Good news yes I can. So once the body is completed I'll plumb all these in when I do the Syvecs.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pszem7ymi3.jpg

Got the ABW bits. Front splitter and skirts. Both had to be modified to suite the wide arches on the car.

The test fit of the splitter. I can't elaborate enough how well it fitted. Shame to have to mod it.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psbkvjw2p6.jpg

Part way through being modded and also the skirts added. These had to be extended out to suit the arches.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psfplebs1r.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pstyghwejl.jpg

A lot of flatting down and finishing to do. Hopefully all wrapped up tomorrow. Then just paint and I can concentrate on the electrics :D

C. J. 25-07-2015 05:21 PM

Looking good 👍
Got to ask , why all the gauges as a toucan would of given you all of what the gauges and more ?

seventune 27-07-2015 07:12 PM

Thanks dude,

I do a love guage..... and the toucan is a stretch too far from a money aspect.

Got the STI 8 scoop fitted

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psm0sruzvw.jpg

Steve_PPP 27-07-2015 09:29 PM

Nice work on the arches, not much clearance so guessing your suspension is pretty rock solid!

Prefer the old scoop personally, don't like the blob style ones on classics. Good work though :ok:

scotty 27-07-2015 09:41 PM

Looking good thought mine was low that looks like it's going to hurt on the old bum .

seventune 27-07-2015 10:57 PM

The suspension is hard yes. But the there is clearence between then wheels and arches. Once the roll bars are on I can soften the dampers off.

As far as the scoop goes. I actually agree. But the 8 scoop offer larger mouth and taller catchment for the turbo. A functional change.

seventune 11-08-2015 10:40 AM

Righty ordered some more toys this morning to sort the chassis a bit....

Whiteline 24mm front roll bar
Whiteline 24mm rear roll bar - adjustable
Whiteline anti lift kit
Whiteline front and rear ally drop link set

New coilovers. Because the BC are knocky and leaky..... agian. For the second time. On the same car.*

I've gone for XYZ adjustable jobbies. Racing logic where the first choice to be honest for the alotted budget. Which ruled out Nirton/KW/Ohlins/Aragosta etc etc. HSD was an option as where the Buddyclub units but I had XYZ units on an old rx7. Along with their big brakes. And I have to say was mega impressed. They offer bigger more sturdy bodies and a more robust top mount than bc/apex type units for the same money. And they also didn't corrode half as fast as the others. One of the big things is that they actually soaked up the bump as opposed to just hitting then so you got a good level of damping even with a firm ride. Pair that with the roll bars so you can run the damping a little softer and they where properly mint (again for the budget).

seventune 13-08-2015 05:02 PM

Got the coilovers through today from Tim @ Scoobyparts. Cannot praise them enough for their service. Parts turning up promptly. Second box tomorrow with the Whiteline parts. They've kept me up to date all the way through. Very very happy.

And over the moon with the coilovers too. Will get them on as soon as I get half a chance. Few of pics.

seventune 22-10-2015 04:47 PM

Very little time to do anything on this since the last post. I've done a bit more of the body but not a lot. Will try to get back on her in the next few weeks and get the old girl running..... front end ready for paint though....

With the passenger arches all mocked on with skirts:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pspxknol8j.jpg

The we have the front end. Finally all in Primer ready for paint. Skirts are all finished now too but not on in the pics!

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psffr95qob.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...pstesqwrgk.jpg

I will be adding some carnards/winglets to the front end but i'm but going through a few ideas to make sure it keeps in with the styling so they don't appear just thrown on as such. Nearly there then onto interior and wiring :)
