Another great result for lewis and terrible for bianchi, not looking very good at the moment saw the crash earlier, surprised he is even alive after that impact the way it lifted the crane off the ground on impact, fingers crossed he will pull through

ScoobyStu 06-10-2014 06:28 PM

Just seen the Bianchi crash, not sure how he wasn't killed there and then. Hopefully he pulls through.

Questions over the flags/flag!

Notice the TV Camera too, seems no footage from that even though you can see him track the car.

All the footage so far has been from Joe Public.

Unfortunately here is another clip:

I am amazed he is still with us lets hope and pray he pulls through.

Aweful. Talk about bad timing too. A few seconds either way and it would have missed. :sadnod:

Mortster 06-10-2014 08:51 PM

How long does that marshal continue to wave a green even though it right below him?!

Pretty sure it was double waved yellows before that point, watching it live, it had gone to yellow after Adrian had crashed, It was still under yellow when that happened, I think he is waving Green there as past that point it is clear.. I think Suzuka also has the modern FIA lights system in place though I could be mistaken.

Watching the above is really horrific and terrible bad luck on Jules's part. I am truly amazed he is still alive after watching that back.. I hope he pulls through.

Press update,
Jules Bianchi: Driver is in 'critical but stable condition' say family

The family of Marussia driver Jules Bianchi have issued an update on his condition after he suffered severe head injuries at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The 25-year-old from France had surgery on Sunday after his car hit a recovery vehicle that was removing another car.
The family revealed he suffered a diffuse axonal injury and is regarded as "critical but stable".
The FIA, world motorsport's governing body, have asked race director Charlie Whiting for a report on the crash.
What is diffuse axonal injury?

By Michelle Roberts, BBC News Online Health Editor
If the brain moves back and forth in the skull as a result of rapid acceleration or deceleration, such as in a car crash, damage can occur
The shearing action disrupts the brain's architecture and kills brain cells
In response to the injury, the brain swells and this increasing pressure can restrict blood flow, causing further brain damage
Assessing how much damage has occurred can take time - some damage may well be irreversible

"Jules remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mie General Medical Centre in Yokkaichi. He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury [when the head is rapidly accelerated or decelerated] and is in a critical but stable condition," the family said.
"The medical professionals at the hospital are providing the very best treatment and care and we are grateful for everything they have done for Jules since his accident."
The statement added: "This is a very difficult time for our family, but the messages of support and affection for Jules from all over the world have been a source of great comfort to us. We would like to express our sincere appreciation."

Not the most exciting of races, but congrats to LH on a win in Russia :ok: It would have been a bit more exciting if Rosberg hadn't over committed himself at the start of the race ... but a good recovery saw Merc take the constructors title :)

Pretty perfect summary.

Does seem Rosberg lacks a little finesse when the pressure is on. He buckled at Spa, then got a bit overexcited today. As you say though, excellent recovery.

Lucky 12-10-2014 05:13 PM

Agreed not the best of races but the title is ever nearer.

Glad Jenson had a good result too.

Scott.T 12-10-2014 06:11 PM

Disgusting they raced there imho considering their bombing Ukraine.
Just goes to show 'money talks'.

Granby 12-10-2014 07:24 PM

Boring race, Lewis wasn't even put under pressure after the Nico incident, great drive for Nico though to finish 2nd & good to see Jenson up there

Nico has lost it this year imo, he buckles under the pressure and tried to make the move stick on turn one as he knew Lewis would be quicker and disappear otherwise.

And I think Nico's recovery drive was a case of the car flattering him - the Merc's were way ahead of the rest in race trim and that was the only reason he managed to get back up to 2nd. Lewis led the race and cruised home from lap 2, he was lifting and coasting down all the straights and just looking after the car.

The only one close was Bottas and I'm sure he wasn't pushing hard due to concerns about fuel consumption and Williams taking the conservative approach again (and knowing that it wasn't worth trying to race Lewis).

Banstead Stig 13-10-2014 04:26 PM

Agreed. As I said above, Spa and Sochi were the most obvious examples in my opinion.

This was in an article I read this afternoon and is quite telling.

Quote:

Rosberg is yet to beat him [Hamilton] in a straight fight when they have both started together at the front of the grid, nor has he won an on-track battle with Hamilton this season.
If the reliability issues had been more evenly felt across the team (not to mention the 'taking out' incident) then the championship would be very different.

That said, if Rosberg can win the last three races he'll have won seven races to Hamilton's nine, which wouldn't be too ridiculous. Just not sure he's got it in him personally and I hope to be proven correct in due course!

Matt23 14-10-2014 04:07 PM

I think had it been any other track then rosberg would of had to of made another pit stop or 2 and would never have got 2nd, It was just lucky for him that the track surface was very unabracive and easy on the tires.

bigemp 14-10-2014 05:19 PM

Just hope if it does come down to last race that rosberg dont win it with the double points, with something happening to lewis

Bytes 03-11-2014 01:08 PM

Great overtake and much needed points for Lewis. Fingers crossed for no mechanical failures in the last two races

Steve_PPP 03-11-2014 01:18 PM

He's got Nico well and truly beaten hasn't he. Only worry must be if there's a mechanical failure on his car in Abu Dhabi and Nico scoops up 50 points.

Without the double points in the last race, Lewis could have won the title in Brazil by simply finishing ahead of his teammate....

BIG"E" 23-11-2014 12:57 PM

Come on Lewis Hamilton

Banstead Stig 23-11-2014 01:01 PM

Well said that man!

Bytes 23-11-2014 02:44 PM

Great result & thoroughly deserved for Lewis :drive::CUP:

Banstead Stig 23-11-2014 02:50 PM

Yeah, over the moon!

Prince Harry can **** off though! Who gives a toss what he's got to say?!

Ginola 23-11-2014 03:26 PM

The right result to the championship, a shame what happened to Nico's car though.

Scott.T 23-11-2014 03:28 PM

Yawn.....a wet day at home, the championship decider and it still can't grab my attention.....
I tried.....but it's like watching your kids play scalextric
You spend an hour on the build up assembling the track. Then when the racing starts, after 5 minutes your board, and after 10 minutes so are they........so back in the loft it goes.....

At least in Abu Dhabi you don't keep having to pick the cars up and put them back on the track. There's enough tarmac run off there to land an A380.
Oops...I got that corner wring, no worries I'll just drive over the striped green bits......
.
.
No mate, you cocked up, you should be in the gravel and out.......

Well done Lewis, tried to avoid the result but couldn`t resist checking Sky news whilst at work today. :CUP:

jmcc42uk 24-11-2014 11:56 AM

Yep, turned out to be boring AGAIN.

If Hamilton's car had the same problems as Rosberg's then we might have seen a better race

bigemp 24-11-2014 05:54 PM

Yep was a boring race but the right man won in the end,and a shame for rosberg with his problems and glad he stayed out to finish the race and didnt retire the car.

Agreed. He did exactly what he had to do and winning 11 races fully deserved it. Pleased jenson did ok too. Would love to see him with a drive next year but will wait and see.

About time!

Jenson confirmed alongside Alonso at McLaren for 2015! :ok:

Granby 11-12-2014 03:55 PM

 at least they took their time and made the correct choice

Lucky 11-12-2014 04:22 PM

Fantastic news. Roll on 2015.

Banstead Stig 11-12-2014 06:37 PM

Could be a great team if it all comes together.

Shame it'll be a Spaniard not a Brit on the top step if it does. :(

Bytes 11-12-2014 08:07 PM

Good news about JB, but McLaren could have handled it better. Still baffles me why they would let Alonso back into the fold after what happened last time he was there ... :fool:

Bolesroor 12-12-2014 12:59 PM

:agreed: Great news for JB

Found this today, interested in seeing what they all go for, will have a proper look when more time is available as there seems to be a lot up for auction.

Bytes 15-03-2015 09:35 AM

It was a bit of a poor start to the 2015 season with several non starters and only 11 cars finishing. Lewis seemed to manage the race well and Ferrari are back ... let's hope for more racing next time :drive:

jmcc42uk 23-03-2015 11:53 AM

God, that was rubbish. Just paid for sky sports F1. Shouldn't have bothered now
