Had a great day today even after this mornings drama, not nice to see anyone has had an off but glad both Si and Jo are ok. Hope you both got home without any trouble too.

Weather cleared up and made for a good day of spectating many varying cars out on track.

Thanks Steve for taking me out on a passenger lap, I think your brakes could stop the world turning! Thanks also to Wanda for the amazing hospitality, an awesome cake and drink service as ever.

Was good to meet Paul and Stacey, glad you managed to come down today.

I have put a load of pics up in the event pics section so be sure to check them out.

Ginola 11-04-2015 08:58 PM

Great to see everyone today! and glad to meet a few new faces too :) and really good to see Nick, Lucky & Pieman make an appearance too :)

I had a blast on track, happy to take you round Paul & CJ hope I was not too terrifying!

will upload some vids and Wanda's pics once I have sorted, only just sat down!

Sorry about your off Si, glad you where both fine.

555_Si 12-04-2015 12:02 PM

Thanks to everyone yesterday who organised and helped, also CJ for offering to escort me home and bringing discs round.

Thank you to a wonderful girlfriend, who didn't tell me off for being an idiot and who is supporting me in getting car back on road, most likely for supercar seize and Germany.

I may give track days a miss until I have actually put more than a 100 miles on my car this time.

Glad everyone had a good day yesterday and believe it or not I still had a great day.

Banstead Stig 12-04-2015 12:13 PM

Glad you're both okay, that's the main thing.

Everyone cocks up now and again, it's what makes us human.

Look at Maldonado, he makes a living out of it!

The key benefit you have is it isn't your daily driver, so things could be much worse!

All the best with fixing it up. :ok:

ScoobyStu 12-04-2015 03:10 PM

Glad you all had a good day.

Si, sorry to see you'd had an incident mate. Glad you, Jo and the car are ok.

Stacey 12-04-2015 03:54 PM

hey, was great meeting you all, loved every minute of it. Sorry I couldn't stay for long :(. Looking forward to the next meet.

Big thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome especially BIG E who came straight over to say Hi, much appreciated.

Cakes were amazing, thank you!!

Glad everyone was ok after the little accident.

Now looking forward to Leeds castle :) :) :) xx

Lucky 12-04-2015 08:57 PM

Great to catch up with everyone again and meet some new faces.

Shame about si's little off but glad you were both ok and look forward to seeing the car get sorted.

Scott.T 12-04-2015 09:24 PM

Glad you all had a great day. Gutted I couldn't be there to experience it.
There may be another one later in the year which I hope to confirm tomorrow.

The Handbrake 12-04-2015 09:34 PM

Ty so much for organising this, lovely day and missed you. Hope little one is ok.

I might be able to make that one..

Fantastic day - took it easy out in circuit but had a great day. Thanks Scott for organising. Harwoods ran a good event - I was impressed

555_Si 14-04-2015 10:32 AM

well, after some thinking of breaking the wagon and getting a saloon, i have reached a decision to rebuild for now. Economics would be better to break and buy another, but i just haven't got time or space to really do that at the moment.

So first option is a Prodrive saloon front end going on, failing that a hawk, possibly wagon but maybe saloon front end.

The unbolting and purchasing starts now.

so next question is, does anyone know a good spray shop to spray stuff off the car?

Security_Paul 14-04-2015 11:32 AM

Depending on how far you want to travel, there's a few bodyshops in Farnborough. There's a good one that will do cash deals...

Rdlangy1 14-04-2015 11:35 AM

D&A customs are very very good sprayers - have done all the work on mine and the guy has sprayed subarus before...only prob is they are in sittingbourne which I guess is to far to travel... But they are good and highly recommended :ok:

Ryan

Stacey 14-04-2015 01:51 PM

Taylors in Horley (Surrey) town are good for spray work xx

555_Si 14-04-2015 03:06 PM

thanks guys, i have some options to try. not as anal on the Scoob as other cars but still want a reasonable good job done.

Steve_PPP 14-04-2015 05:31 PM

Glad you're going for rebuild rather than break option mate :)

Good luck with the work and hope its as easy and inexpensive as possible!

555_Si 14-04-2015 09:41 PM

Lol...... Another change of events, bug going to be no longer, another Scoob has entered the scene, but parts of the bug will live on in a new suit!

C. J. 14-04-2015 09:42 PM

Sounds good ;)

Red Baron 14-04-2015 09:55 PM

A caged classic by any chance :-)

Seriously, why do people think "cash deals" are acceptable?

If someone doesn't charge you VAT because you're paying cash, that's against the law. As is the income and/or corporation tax evasion that goes hand in hand with it by not running the job through the books.

Personally I think it's abhorrent and I don't think the site "staff" should let posts recommending it go unchallenged.

Sorry for the ranting nature, but it really winds me up.

Back to the main point, I'll be interested to see what materialises Si!

Rdlangy1 15-04-2015 06:58 AM

glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel :ok: dare I ask how Jo is taking another car ha ha

We're an easy going bunch ;)

But on a serious note, its in our terms & conditions blurb at the bottom of every page that opinions posted on the forum are just that, and not necessarily those of anyone in the SES team. We'll only step in and remove posts if there is an obvious legality issue, such as posting copyrighted or other illegal content. Discussing cash jobs isn't breaking the law.

And if you want my personal opinion on this one ;) I agree with you - but unfortunately it is all too commonplace for independent traders these days. For a job like painting the front of a car, I'd want it through the company books so I have a receipt in case the job isn't to my satisfaction and I need to get it rectified....

Thanks for responding Steve.

I wasn't suggesting you chaps took responsibility for it, but by the same token, discussing a murder isn't illegal, but I'd feel a but uncomfortable if someone started doing so on here without being told it wasn't appropriate.

Your point about the receipt is spot on, as even if you don't care about the wider illegality issues, from a self-interest position you are left exposed.

I acknowledge I was being a grumpy monkey yesterday. Thing is, I have invested a lot of time and effort in learning the tax legislation and legitimate ways of saving my clients money, so when people take the piss it gets on my wick. :D
