I have got two extinguishers but no fixing brackets.

Might be worth waiting to see if there is any interest. There is talk of a group buy on another forum.

Re: SES @ Nurbergring May 29th - June 1st

Othr things you can do when we get there
1. A trip to Cochem is a must. A gorgeous town 40 mins from the ring, situated on the river Mosel it has a very pretty castle, cable car to viewing points plus river trips and tourist style shops. The Mosel valley is a large wine producer so take advantage while you're there. A popular place to visit and well recommended

2. Wildlife park near the town of Daun. Drive through the Wild boar, deer etc and have the oppurtunity to feed them. After the drive take the walk through the monkey enclosure where the monkeys run free around you. Lastly the bird of prey show. Watch Owls, hawks and eagles do their stuff swooping low over your head. A must for the family http://www.wildpark-daun.de/

3. Rodelbahn near Daun. Right next door to the wildlife park is a tobogan run for kids and big kids alike. Winding down a steep steel run on little more than a tea tray with a brake is excellent fun for everyone. You will be getting competitve by the end of the first couple of runs I guarranty

4. Phantasialand German theme park for all the family http://www.phantasialand.de/9937/phanta ... tions.html

5. Eifel park http://www.eifelpark.de/en/ Wildlife park along the same lines as number 2 on this list.

6. Altenahr - small town on the road towards Cologne. Cheap chairlift to a lovely viewing point. 15 mins from Adenau

7. Rodelbahn - Another Tobogan run with a few animals for the kids to feed. Carry on past Altenaur for around ten mins and its on your left hand side.
Video http://www.northloop.co.uk/videos_other.htm

8. Nurbugring castle - For those too lazy to drive anywhere take the steps to the castle which overlooks the surrounding area. Excellent views.

9. Burg Satzvey - castle near the pretty village of Kommern around 40 mins from the ring. Often events going on where you can try your arm at archery, watch fire eaters, watch josting, birds of prey etc etc. Very much recomended. http://www.burgsatzvey.de/eng_index.html

10. If you want to spend money then Koblenz is the place. Most of the town centre is pretty poor but look for the indoor shopping area over the other side of the road from the Subway sandwich shop. Plenty of designer shops to break the credit card.

I have spoken to morris insurance for a track quote to cover me on the 30th/31st of may on the ring. They came back to me with a figure of £275 for the two days with a £1000 excess.
I think this is pretty good and i know Mr Big E gave me some good advice on changing to Norwich union to save money as his is included in his insurance with them im not sure if i would gain by changing or could honestly be bothered with the hastle and paper work! No probs mate I was going to mention Moris as that was who Gary Moulson suggested.
I spoke to Moris on behalf of everyone trying to get some form of discount, but was told you can only book/get a quote on line, so no discounts.

Piece of cake. If coming from the Hastings end of the A21, you get onto the Dual Carraigeway at Kippings Cross, go past the turn offs for Pembury and you'll come down to the big roundabout where it goes back into single carraigeway. Turn Left (industrial Estates) and then take your first turning left after about 1/4 mile. If you get to traffic lights you have gone too far.

Follow the road round to the right and eventually you will find the car park, the pub is on the left hand side.

Re: SES @ Nurbergring May 29th - June 1st

Hi all, noticed this thread and started reading, got to page 6 and noticed a lot of incorrect informations and hear say about the Nordschleife.

I'm an English Impreza owner that's working at the Nurburgring so thought I would do a brief post. Forgive me for not reading 24 pages, I got to page 6 before deciding to contribute.

Insurance:
99% will not cover the Nordschleife. You need a minimum of 3rd party cover to drive during Touristenfahrten. Sometimes the insurance company will pay out for 3rd party damage but seek to recover their losses from you personally. There are companies out there but it's not easy finding them as people don't like to share it.

Crashing:
Expensive. Armco (including removal, posts, new armco, labour, admin fees) is approx. €100 per metre. Most bills are 4 figures. Recovery is €200 from the track to local garage, storage is charged per day and not cheap. The only company that recovers you FOC is the German company ADAC, European membership so you're covered in the UK too is about £70. Track closure is €1500 per hour.

2009 prices:
1 - €22
4 - €75
8 - €145
15 - €250
25 - €390
JK - €1075

I'll hopefully see you out here.

Mark

Nurburgring GmbH are bringing out a new payment system this year. It's a pre-pay card you can top up with credit to buy your laps and pay for other products and services like food and drink. I'm not 100% yet if it's replacing the old paper card lap tickets although new barriers have been installed.

worzel 11-03-2009 02:22 PM

Re: SES @ Nurbergring May 29th - June 1st

That's a good idea.

We had a meeting last night to talk over things for the Ring trip. It was one of the questions I asked (not been before) as to whether you could pre-order lap tickets. And if so was there any kind of saving to be had.

You still purchase tickets from the ticket office/ ticket machine at the track. Tickets are also available from the ED petrol station parallel to the Dottinger Hohe straight. If you're going to be doing more than 60something laps a year then a Jahreskarte (year ticket) is available for €1075, this is a watch style transponder accompanied with an ID card.

The main entrance to the Nordschleife had both LHD and RHD ticket barriers. If you're got a LHD car or a passenger you can join the track at the Breidscheid entrance in Adenau as that ticket barrier is for LHD vehicles.
