The 1st year we went overall was a nice pace,

The 2nd year was very slow, until something fell off the lead car.

Last year was at a nice pace also apart from the person that was drinking a 2ltr bottle of tango. You missed out on that Mr Worzel :nod:

We have always in the past started together and arrived together.

As you say things will sort themselves out, if I was not looking forward to this my forth trip I definitely would not be going.

With 22 cars its going to be interesting that's for sure.

I just hope there are not any vehicle failures.

I'm think I'm going to head to Anterp on my September trip this year, my great uncle who I'm named after died there and Ive found where his grave is in the Royal Navy grave yard, only 18 when he died and was only his second day fighting on the front line

Like you, I am well into Military History, WWI mainly, I have been doing some research on Crowborough soldiers killed in the great war and plan to visit the Grave sites in years to come.

Be Careful in France - They are really clamping down.

Last year my bother got caught doing 100mph in a 60 zone, and it ended up costing him approx 4000 euro, and his pride and joy impounded for nearly 12 months, and 2 visits to a court. Plus the loss of the use of the car over what was supposed to be a petrol head driving weekend. And if as a group we didn't stump up 1400 euro in cash on the spot, he would have gone to jail there and then.

So be warned - Things can get a little more nasty than a slapped wrist and a modest on the spot fine.

Exactly Rob. This is why I would rather cruise down there. Like you say, they are really hot on this kind of thing.

I would expect they know it's a long weekend on the Ring so "La Rozzers" will be out in numbers. Once you hit the derestricted Autobahns you can go as nuts as you like. But it's just too risky to go silly beforehand.

Steve, I just thought I tell you this although the last thing I want to is to spoil you guys' fun. But when you are innocently involved in an accident on a derestricted Autobahn and were doing more than 130 km/h you are automatically be found (at least) partly guilty. The so called recommended speed is 130 km/h at a derestricted section and if you do more than you have to be aware that you will get (partly) blamed for an accident if - for instance - some idiot pulled out in front of you much to closely and you couldn't brake early enough. :shock:

Don't get me wrong, I also love the derestricted sections, I only wanted to make sure you guys are aware of what can happen (hopefully not). But maybe you know this anyway. :)

After 4 hours in the car, by the time we get to the de-restricted sections, most people only have a "little play". :drive:

update i have e maild eddy the hotel owner and he has said yes it is booked for us 42 for the saturday night at the steak house next two group 2 hotel i will double check with the resturant too but 99% we have our venue for food sat night

i have now got our german representative on the case with me trying to get hold of steakhouse cause it dont actually open for another few days and she is on the case been a native speaker not like me and shouting a bit louder to get understood lol :yeah:

But, as you said, they open only on 3rd March, so they might not be in regularly yet. Anyway, I'll stay on the case and let you know as soon as I've got a reply. :smile:

Anyway, I just had a phonecall from an office that takes all the phonecalls and e-mail until the Steakhouse opens. The man had seen that I had tried to phone a few times and rang me back. He told me that the order for Saturday for 42 people is ok, and if we bring two more it will be fine, too. I told him when we know the exact number we will tell them. :) Anyway, he said tomorrow he will send me an additional e-mail so that we have something in writing, too. :)



Seems as if tomorrow has already arrived, as I just got the e-mail with the ok. :grin:

@ Simba: The man wrote that they would still need the time when we would like to have dinner on the Saturday. If you could tell me, I'll e-mail it to him and then I will send you a copy of everything so that you've got everything together. :smile:

Quality..... if they can send a menu we could also probably pre-order to make their life easier.

Jeez, I nearly fell down dead with laughter, Steve, when I saw the change you made under my username. :-D That's just sweet. :) Although I'm a bit embarrassed as I didn't do much at all. It's not hard work, I love doing such things. And if anyone of you guys would like me to help with whatever just let me know. :nod: :)

If you guys are up for this I can ask them. Although I think I'll need somebody to help me guide the waiters round when they bring the meals. :D We did it with the WOC last year and it worked quite well in the end. The difference was that it was only 25 people and I knew most of them. The waiters came out with the meals asking who had ordered them but the restaurant was too loud, so nobody understood them. So I took my list, had a look at the meals in their hands and pointed: This goes there, that goes there.............(with starter, mains and desserts). :D With us being 44 people and me knowing only about 10 by sight so far that will become fun. :grin:

As I said, if you guys are up for it we can do it. Just let me know if you would like me to suggest pre-ordering only the mains or starters and desserts as well. :)

I have heard back from Jackie about the Sunday night. No problem with numbers, so we can all eat together on Saturday and Sunday now, which is cool.
