Nice project read:) you done superbly with the cover that you sprayed it looks O.E...just A couple of questions if you don't mind, what turbo did you go for and what power are you hoping to achieve?.SJ.

Rdlangy1 18-02-2017 10:02 AM

Went for an SC38 which will hopefully give me around 380bhp...

Had the pleasure of Mr Rob down today..

Been so long since I caught up so after a good chin wag and some bacon rolls we set to work doing a few bits..

Firstly he kindly helped me replace Laura's rear reflector on the fiesta..

Then we spent some time fitting my rear diffuser seeing as it was sat in the office....

And there we go :ok:

Not to everyone's taste and not functional but I liked the fact it adds a bit of depth to the back of the scoob...

Once again thanks to Rob for all his help and hard work...

Rdlangy1 03-05-2017 12:27 PM

Well as some of you know, I have had some issues to deal with (ongoing still), but some extra pennies have come in, and so have been put towards the car........................30th May..................cuppa Tea with Rich @ FB Tuning :ok:

finally clear the boxes from my Office :ok:

Granby 03-05-2017 12:41 PM

Oh nice, any ideas what sort of power it will make?

Ginola 03-05-2017 12:42 PM

Nice one, have you got it all fitted yet dude?

Rdlangy1 03-05-2017 12:44 PM

Turbo only rated to 380 so hopefully somewhere around there... Any more would be a bonus really...

Just feel like my old girl has had every bearing and bush replaced, and the engine is well maintained (oil changes every 6-8 months - even though only covered approx. 600 miles a year) and had gaskets, seals all replaced (besides head gaskets), and the turbo was probably the oldest bit left. So refresh that, and hopefully she will go on for years and years to come :ok:

Rdlangy1 09-05-2017 01:29 PM

Well after looking around for a few months, I have decided (after a painful trip back from Brands Hatch) to book the car in to have the gearbox checked over.

Only gear causing me issues is 3rd (above 4000rpm) where it just doesn't go...Anything below that, its a smooth as silk. The car was bought with this issue, and so its nothing I have done. Ive also given the gearbox 3x fluid changes in the 2.5yrs ive owned it just to limit any potential damage as best I can.

Tried a few recommendations and costs were quite high but all within £500 of each other.

Settled on these guys www.rmperformance.co.uk - had some good reviews, and they seemed to know there stuff, suggesting whilst the 3rd gear was being sorted, I opt to the have the 4th, 5th, and 6th baulk rings upgraded to the carbon rings, as per Subaru did from the factory with the later 6-speed boxes.

Removal and refit costs were reasonable (less than £300) and so its all booked in for the 1st July.

They have given me a budget worst case cost for just the third gear synchro, including the upgraded baulk rings and its competitive. (based on every component needing replacing)

Obviously these things can open up a can of worms, but as with everything else on the car, I want the basics to be solid and sorted, so it needs to be done.

Shouldn't need the clutch and flywheel replaced as these were only done 1.5 years ago (Exedy Pink Box + Lightened Flywheel) but they will check these for wear also...

They will also check over all the other gears for signs of problems before they happen and advise any costs prior to going forward. Or they can just put the box back together if costs get silly :ok:

Also put in an email to Alyn for some prices on a few other upgrade parts for other areas of the car and so might have some more updates to follow shortly...

Ryan :ok:

Steve_PPP 09-05-2017 02:50 PM

Sounds like its definitely the right course of action if 3rd isn't there over 4k rpm. Hope its a straightforward job to sort for you mate :)

Rdlangy1 09-05-2017 02:55 PM

Fingers crossed :ok:

Ginola 09-05-2017 05:12 PM

how much to convert to sequential! :D

Hopefully there isn't too much wrong with any of the rest of it, normally its 4th gear syncro that suffers on the 6 speed boxes.

Rdlangy1 09-05-2017 05:18 PM

Yeah they did say it was rare to have the third gear synchro be a problem...I'm only summising as it's third gear I have an issue with :ok:

That must mean your special then :-D, hopefully it a cheap(ish) fix for you and then it will be ready for the power upgrades :ok:

Rdlangy1 09-05-2017 06:09 PM

Oh I'm def special mate :ok:

And like I said it's a problem I've had since I bought the car but yes with the nominal power upgrades I figured it would only get worse so I wanted to get it sorted :ok:

Rdlangy1 11-05-2017 10:35 AM

Right - off the phone from Alyn and tomorrow sees boxes arriving from 3 different sources :ok:

Oh............................and a couple not for my car :hurrah::five:

Love it when a plan comes together

Rdlangy1 11-05-2017 04:29 PM

Well heres a few pics of "some" of the parcels arriving tomorrow :-)
