What lap times are people hoping for? I didn't bother timing it last year but I may do this year just for the crack - hope I can go faster than Sabine in the Transit from that TG episode.

Neil97rs 16-05-2017 04:39 PM

Just hoping to get round in one piece lol

It doesn't look anything from the car park side but when you go in it has memorabilia everywhere and the decking has the panoramic views. The restaurant is nicely done and the staff friendly.

Wanda could you look in to making a booking please ?

If Si and Rob agree.

I don't time whilst in the car, but just lookup times afterwards on the video (from timestamps under the bridge/gantry). Would be nice to go under 9 minutes again, not managed it for a couple of years due to weather/traffic/overheating scoob  but not fussed if it doesn't happen. These days its more about getting away from work, enjoying the people, food and beers :ok:

Don't suppose there's any chance of you telling me when you're about 1hr away from the turn in Germany where you change from the A60 to the A1? Then I can see about making my way and joining you that point. I took a look at meeting you up near Liege where you stop but that's a long way in the wrong direction.

Is anyone using Waze on the their phone for navigation? Would make this easier.

nikkinokkinoo 17-05-2017 03:07 PM

One more day in the orifice and then try and get an early night.

Going to try and get packed and loaded tonight.

**** NOTE TO SELF ===> SET ALARM ****

Long weekend of car things - doesn't get much better.

Friday looking a bit damp but dry remainder.

AndySpecD 17-05-2017 04:33 PM

Guys, I'll be out there Thursday to Sunday so will keep an eye out for you and the Scoobies.

Out in the M140 and a mate in his E46 M3.

Forecast certainly looking better than it did earlier in the week, rainy drive over there on Friday but much nicer for the rest of the weekend. Won't bother cleaning the car too much before leaving if we're driving through the rain to get there!

Red Baron 17-05-2017 06:12 PM

Did any of you see this on Pistonheads and watch the associated videos, can't believe the works Fiat entry was a bunch of Cinquecentos and the works VW entry were Golf Diesels, the VLN 24 has certainly moved even if one of the winning drivers is very familiar.

Yeah I quickly washed my car late last night after a glorious day, 29C, this morning I left for work and it was cloudy but still nice but then I got close to the office and the rain came down. The thing to really mess things up are the insects as they're out in full force now, I only drove 30min home last night from Germany and the windscreen was covered again :brickwall:

Steve_PPP 18-05-2017 09:05 AM

Yeah, Ginola sent us some pics on whatsapp, he's been there all week and the car was covered.

Will remember spare microfibres for cleaning the bugs off!

Ferd 18-05-2017 09:06 AM

Here's something else you might want to add to the list of things to have with your vehicle - a rescue sheet. I only discovered this today: http://www.acl.lu/Mobilite/Rescue-Sheet

Basically it gives the rescue services the info they need to know exactly the best places to cut to get you out as quickly and safely as possible. These are the ones for EU models, http://www.acl.lu/Mobilite/Rescue-Sh...-constructeurs not sure where you would find them for UK spec vehicles.

Oh and a handy guide translation guide for a couple of the vehicle docs you must have onboard and none of which must be copies, it's the most commonly used English phrases the police will use that don't mean much in English unless you know what they are:
  • Grey Card = V5
  • Control Certificate = MOT Certificate
  • Green Card = European Insurance Certificate, signed!!
  • ID = Your Passport

I also have to carry the car's "Certificate of Conformity" but I don't know if you get given one with UK cars - it details the exact specifications of the car as it was imported, with any subsequent changes listed on the grey card (V5). It's the thing that prevents me simply putting any old wheels/tyres on my car.

Red Baron 18-05-2017 09:18 AM

That's something worth adding to your packing lists, windscreen cleaner.

Although it won't shift everything that can hit your windscreen on the autobahns:

That reminds me, what you guys do about cleaning cars, do you bring much stuff with you? Is there actually somewhere you can clean the cars or do you not bother once you're here.
