Scoobyless

Well..... It's gone

After 9 and a half years of Impreza ownership I fancy a change, so the car went yesterday.

Got offered what I wanted for it without advertising, so decided to let it go.

New owner is a really nice guy, and a genuine Subaru enthusiast, so I'm sure it's in good hands.

Haven't decided exactly what I'm replacing it with.
Thought I'd decided, but now looking at a couple of options.

Needless to say it'll still be something exciting.... I'm not ready to go too sensible quite yet!

Watch this space......

Ginola 02-03-2014 04:05 PM

:) watching this space...

Do you have anything in mind yet Gary?

BIG"E" 02-03-2014 04:10 PM

Happy hunting mate.

Will it be ring friendly ??

Moley_WRX 02-03-2014 04:17 PM

Considering an Evo 6, STI Type R, R33 GTR or even a VX220, but still looking at other things.

Have already bought a Clio 182

ScoobyStu 02-03-2014 04:20 PM

R33 GTR would be my choice. Love them!

Anger 02-03-2014 04:47 PM

R33 is never a track car tho

Hongkongfooi 02-03-2014 05:03 PM

Isn't something on its way....from far far away?:-D

Nothing yet

C. J. 02-03-2014 05:40 PM

As you don't have kids yet I'd try the vx220 :)

2nd above, had a VX220 Turbo and loved it. It is a weekend/drivers car but they certainly go and handle really well. The perception of speed and fun with your **** 2 inch of the ground and roof off adds another dimension and driving experience that you just don't get with a scoob.

Anger 02-03-2014 05:58 PM

It will be very funny seeing you get in and out as well :)

They aren't designed for fat men with bad backs, lol

Or people over six foot. I sat in one when they first came out and my head stuck out of the top; well enough to mean my eye level was with the windscreen framing!

Anger 02-03-2014 06:33 PM

I got offered a nice one for the Evo.... No chance of me getting in and out without people laughing

Yeah I guess they may not be. Only ever seen one fly round a track and it was stripped and running just shy of 700bhp so not really a fair benchmark!haha.

Madhou5e 02-03-2014 08:49 PM

Caterham?
Smile per mile = Priceless.

scotty 02-03-2014 10:47 PM

I know where there is a good STI TYPE R for sale Gary anyway good luck and happy hunting .

Jack Type R 03-03-2014 10:03 AM

I'm biased but I'd have to say STI Type R, great fun to drive but if it's like mine, not great motorway cars as the gearing is short!

thepieman 03-03-2014 12:48 PM

Was a great looking example Gary:10: and not surprised by it selling so easily, good luck with the search for its replacement:ok:

Scott.T 03-03-2014 01:24 PM

Glad you got what you wanted for it, and looking forward to seeing it's replacement.

drakesnow 03-03-2014 02:43 PM

I vote type r ;)

Moley_WRX 06-03-2014 10:47 PM

scotty 06-03-2014 10:54 PM

Nice evo 6 gsr is it

Moley_WRX 06-03-2014 11:14 PM

Yep. Just got to wait untill the end of May/beginning of June.

scotty 06-03-2014 11:21 PM

What's a few months wait for a nice clean and rust free example and gives you time to think what mods to put on it .

Banstead Stig 07-03-2014 06:26 AM

Lovely job.

White Evos have always had my attention, so you definitely get a thumbs up from me!

scooby doo 07-03-2014 03:04 PM

C. J. 07-03-2014 03:12 PM

I take it you convinced Rachel :)

Ginola 07-03-2014 03:17 PM

Once it's here you're more than welcome to have a drive.

It's got a few niggles that the importers are going to sort once it's here, so got my fingers crossed it'll be as good as they tell me it'll be.

I quite like the look of this..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1813417747...84.m1423.l2649

Would have been tempted myself, but came up for sale a few hours after I paid the deposit on mine. Doh.

Matt23 07-03-2014 09:03 PM

Really liking the look of that Gary, very smart :ok:

Many thanks for the offer:thanx: will certainly take you up on it:drive::thanx:

Will be deciding after service and M.O.T. in May what way to go and one of these is definately on the cards (if the decision in my head stays the same)probably have a good think whilst on ring weekend.....luckily its what Claire mentioned as she really likes the look:shock::wife: so haven't got any problems trying to get one past her:ok:

Moley_WRX 09-03-2014 10:37 AM

The only slight issue is that a lot of the current UK cars weren't undersealed properly (or at all) and suffer badly from rust. Hence I've gone for a fresh import and it's getting undersealed properly before I pick it up.

There are still obviously clean ones here already, but they are getting harder to find.

thepieman 09-03-2014 03:11 PM

Think thats the way I would go to:nod:

bigemp 09-03-2014 03:45 PM

Looks very nice gary:ok:

scooby doo 09-03-2014 06:06 PM

What sort of cost is it to pay for a company to port one over? I'm really tempted by a gtr when I've fixed the evo and sold

Moley_WRX 09-03-2014 06:52 PM

About £600 agents fee, £700 shipping and about £350 to register it.... But the big kick is the additional 30% the government charge for VAT + duty.

I ended up getting mine from SVA as it worked out cheaper than bringing my own in, as their prices are on the road price, including MOT, 6 months tax and 12 month warranty.

Also you pay a £500 deposit untill the car arrives, which is refunded if the car isn't what you expected. Whereas if you import it yourself you pay upfront for the car, and are stuck with it if there is something wrong.

scooby doo 09-03-2014 11:03 PM

Awesome,
I viewed the purple 33 gtr they have for 10k but purchased my evo instead

Moley_WRX 16-06-2014 10:36 PM

Should probably update this thread really......

After a pretty long wait (the world needs quicker ships!) the Evo arrived at SVA about two weeks ago.

I've been down and had a good look at it, especially underneath after all the horror stories about Evo's rusting, and I was very very impressed with it.

I've paid the rest of the money and I'm just waiting for it to be registered. During that time SVA are undersealing it, service including belts, mot, tax, changing the lash adjusters (tappets) and a few other tiny things that I've forgotten.

Might be having it lowered before I pick it up, that's TBC.

I've already got a pile of parts stacking up. Nothing performance yet, just some bits to tidy it up and make it completely mint. (New decals, rubber trim etc)

The only mod on the car is a Ralliart exhaust, apart from that it's completely standard.

Should be picking it up when I get back from holiday on the 27th.

Few pics of it.....
