12hrs to go!

And Duncan remaps my car - excited and nervous to see if the mods have actually helped and if so, to what benefit!

I will post up the results tomorrow! :ok:

Hope it goes well mate :)

NL03Scooby 22-05-2015 04:19 AM

Hope it all goes well Ryan, surely going to be the best bit of 'tinkering' yet!

Rdlangy1 22-05-2015 04:56 AM

Thanks guys - safe drive and have fun in Germany :ok:

Rdlangy1 22-05-2015 01:35 PM

Well bit disappointed tbh but hey ho -

49bhp gain

Bolesroor 22-05-2015 02:00 PM

What was you hoping for ?

Red Baron 22-05-2015 03:36 PM

That's about right for a full decat and filter on an STI, brothers made 331 with a similar spec.

I'd be happy with that, it will cost a lot more to get another 60bhp out of it.

Rdlangy1 22-05-2015 04:16 PM

Thanks guys - was hoping for 340-350 but glad it's running right and sounds good :ok:

Red Baron 22-05-2015 04:20 PM

Just ran through your thread of mods, no expert but although you'll have gained a little with the up pipe and headers you'll have probably lost a bit by going with a sports cat rather than full de-cat.

Rdlangy1 22-05-2015 05:13 PM

Thanks Shane - prob right there.... Will save up and go 800cc injectors and md321t turbo next year and see what I can get then maybe...

Re spray and wheel refurb and maybe coilovers this year to finish...

:ok:

Banstead Stig 22-05-2015 07:04 PM

I shouldn't be too disappointed with that.

A 49bhp gain isn't to be sniffed at.

Scott.T 22-05-2015 07:11 PM

Boost tails off at the top which is quite common on the VF24/28/29/30/35 in it's various guises.
You have to drive the boost controller quite hard to stop them dropping off too far. It's a shame they don't have an adjustable actuator like the TD's which would help them hold a touch more.

Rdlangy1 22-05-2015 07:14 PM

I think Duncan has set mine to 1.2 bar max -

I'm prob just greedy - like I said it's a good improvement - but just hoped for a little more...

But I'm sure I will appreciate it soon enough - at least now I can drive it spiritedly :ok:

It's peaking at 1.4 and dropping to 1.2. Although out on the road it is likely to achieve more in 4th/5th/6th than it will in 3rd on the rollers (assuming Charlie still run in 3rd with Duncan, as he did with JGM)

C. J. 22-05-2015 07:37 PM

3rd or 4th depends on gearing

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 12:02 AM

Yeah ran in 3rd I think :ok:

Don't get me wrong - a gain is a gain - and it's much more drive able now...

Will start looking towards 800cc injectors and md321t turbo next year and see if I can get any higher...

Charlie was a good laugh as always - and Duncan was very professional :ok:

Also informed me my neutral position switch was knacked so I've emailed Alyn about a new one - then it's all good and on to planning the next mods :ok:

C. J. 23-05-2015 08:37 AM

Re injectors, get yours reflowed

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 08:58 AM

Hi c.j -

Thanks for that, is that like porting - I.e making the injectors have more capacity?

Do you know any companies that do it?

Are injectors and turbo the correct next step in your opinion?

Thanks for any advice as always :-)

C. J. 23-05-2015 08:59 AM

Don't know what you have
Laterial will reflow and match or you can decapp them yourself

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 09:05 AM

Ok thanks for the info c.j :ok:

2002 STi - has 3" exhaust with sports cat, ported headers, Harvey smith up-pipe, 3 port solenoid, 290ltr fuel pump, class 7 plugs, do-luck panel filter, pink box clutch..

C. J. 23-05-2015 09:07 AM

If you're going over 400
RCM induction, fmic, injectors and md321t or sc42

C. J. 23-05-2015 09:08 AM

Removing the Catt would be good if you have a nice mot er

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 09:09 AM

Great thanks for the advice :ok: all much appreciated :-)

Juggernaut 23-05-2015 09:56 PM

Alright fella I was the other chap with the 02 bugeye down there with you,
Duncan and Charlie also confirmed my neutral position switch was knackered so in the market for one as well lol

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 10:01 PM

Hi bud,

How did your car perform?

Import car parts are selling them for £46 - genuine Subaru...

Or Alyn at AS performance :ok:

Juggernaut 23-05-2015 10:19 PM

Run 329 bhp, Duncan said apart from the neutral switch messing around engine running strong so happy all in,
Was like driving another car home

That's a good price been looking around as well seen them around a similar price,
will check out as performance as well
Glade to find out it was just the switch backing out the vvt I was convinced there was a boosting and or fueling fault
So just a cheap fix really

Rdlangy1 23-05-2015 10:23 PM

That's a good result mate :ok:

And yeah good to know its a cheap fix...

Ryan
