Wheels...

http://scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/pro...oducts_id=3506

Just put these in the basket to place the order and wondered...

Will these fit over my Brembo's?

Is the offset (53) and width (7.5) correct for my STi Bug?

Also - which tyre size is best suited?

Thanks gents - ryan :ok:

asperformance 09-06-2015 12:33 PM

STi uses an 8" rim as std..........be careful of clearance as its the spoke design that dictates wether they fit or not, not simply the ET / rim width

Rdlangy1 09-06-2015 12:36 PM

Thanks as always Alyn :ok:

Scott.T 09-06-2015 12:56 PM

They are for WRX so probably won't clear brembo.
8 inch or greater is best but even some of these, even some rotas, need spacers to clear.

Red Baron 09-06-2015 01:09 PM

If you did go for them I believe 'E' can do you a great deal on a set of centre caps

Steve_PPP 09-06-2015 01:27 PM

I'd be very surprised if the 7.5" version of this wheel cleared Brembos.... there's not a lot of clearance on the 8" version on the RB320.

Thanks for the info :ok:

Have ordered 18x8 Speedline turini wheels via alyn..

:ok:

Rdlangy1 18-06-2015 07:18 AM

HI All,

Further question - looking for a good quality set of Lug nuts to fit my New Speedline Turini's - any suggestions? Looking around I see some have different measurements?

Would my standard STi wheel nuts fit the Turini's?

Cheers as always -

Ryan :ok:

Scott.T 18-06-2015 07:23 AM

If the Turini are subaru specific they should have a metal collar insert to allow the standard nuts to be used.
If not they may be supplied with nuts as speedines I have had/seen before use a unique shoulder design nut.

Scott.T 18-06-2015 07:27 AM

Speedine used to be able to supply, but this link will give you an idea http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=138354

Ginola 18-06-2015 07:59 AM

They should come with there own shouldered collared nutts,as Scott says your standard ones should not be used.

Rdlangy1 18-06-2015 08:55 AM

Appreciate the comments guys - once they have arrived I shall let you know whats in the box! ha ha :ok:

OK so my wheels are due to be delivered tomorrow - and wondered what peeps think on tyres sizes etc

I think for 18's its normally 225 x 40 x R18 - but have been told 235 x 40 x R18 will also fit.

Besides price, are there any benefits of going 235mm? Im guessing having wider tyres will create more surface contact and thus if geo set up correctly give better grip?

Thinking of some Dunlop Sport Maxxx RT tyres, or Eagle F1's. I know Veredestein Sessanta (apologies if spelt wrong) are used by a lot of peeps, but the wet grip rating isn't as good as the eagles, or the Dunlop.

As always - all views most appreciated :ok:

Nangkang NS2R

Think Steve_PPP has a pic of him testing his Sessantas in the wet. Mine did well at the ring and they are quite well priced on the CamSkill website. Haven't forced them in the wet as I haven't got the balls for tempting fate!

I wouldn't be pushing in the rain either mate - just looking at the wet ratings etc for braking etc

Just don't brake 😁! In all honesty as they are the only tyre I have used on my Scoob I'm sure lots of people will give you good advise on a wide range of tyres.

225/40/18's seem to drive nicer than the 235/40/18s or 245/40/18s if im honest they tram line less with an 8" rim the 235/40/18 might not have a perfectly straight tyre wall, also the profile will be slightly taller throwing the speedo out a little more. Yes the contact patch is slightly bigger but I think it makes very little difference maybe even detrimental in the wet.

I would go for Eagle F1's for the road/light track/wet use in 225/40/18 (the size will be a little cheaper too! )

If its more track than road and light road I would as said above go for some Nangkang NS2R's Soft (120 ware rate) tyres. They are an extremely good value for money trackday tyre in my opinion at less than half the price of an 888 in the same size.

Ps. I have tried the Eagle F1's at 225, 235, and 245, and the dunlops at 225

I have not driven on the Nangkangs but have spoken to a few heavy track day drivers that tell me they are the nuts.

You won't go wrong with either of those. If the Eagles are too much cash, then i'd still go with the Sessantas - i found them superb in the wet.

Rdlangy1 21-06-2015 10:28 PM

Cheers Steve - eagles are £74.99 each on tyre leader at mo..

Will go with ur nankangs on the wheels I take off for track tho :ok:

Steve_PPP 21-06-2015 10:43 PM

blimey, that's a good price :ok:

Go with 888s while you're at it ..

Rdlangy1 22-06-2015 07:37 AM

I wouldn't be allowed to keep them indoors like Dave does though ha ha ha

:ok:

Ginola 22-06-2015 10:20 AM

My collection of indoor rubber is nothing next to Ian's private collection :Oo http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...0ff0ac77f7.jpg

Rdlangy1 22-06-2015 10:37 AM

Holy moly!!!!!!!!!!

Steve_PPP 22-06-2015 12:03 PM

hahaha that's a lot of rubber there Ian!

8 x 888s is just greedy :p

scotty 22-06-2015 06:35 PM

Emmm I think someone has a serious rubber fetish problem:rofl::rofl:

Finish on the inside is painted - but not lacquered...although the top edge - but that would be under the tyre is lacquered...

Ginola 22-06-2015 07:35 PM

Same as mine then, wondered if they changed them at all recently ;) they look really nice all new and shiny with polish on dude!

Rdlangy1 22-06-2015 07:43 PM

Thanks Dave - I've sent them a message about the centre caps...they came with silver ones which would look nicer but the cap is to small for the wheel centre so not sure why they came with tbh

Banstead Stig 22-06-2015 07:57 PM

They'll look very smart.

Good choice.
