just realised that for some reason we have never posted pics of the "closed deck" inserts we design & fit................

Cheers Alyn, I think you did post the above , it just got lost in the DBase issue.
|
Can you 'close' the deck of an existing 2.5 not something I'm planning right now but useful to know.
|
yes can do any of the 4cylinder variants wether 2.0, 2.2 or 2.5 open or semi-closed to start with..............
the only "issue" is that the block has to be the 2x bare halfs to carry out all of the machining required |
excuse my ignorance but what is involved in close decking the open deck block? what will this be rated to powerwise after?
Will it be as strong as block designed from the outset to closed?:thanx: |
the block is CNC machined to take the "insert" which is also a CNC machined "plate" designed as an interference fit, possibly this pic shows the 2c parts better (dont currently have any individual pics) - once installed it cant move due to the operations we carry out
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2.../Photo0000.jpg as for power rating we have done numerous blocks over the last 12-15months with power in the 600-650 region, we have also extensively modded blocks by "pegging" and carried the inserts through as a development of what we learned from that process - pegged blocks were/are used at circa 700+ / the "inserts" are less intrusive/disruptive as a process and offer far more support as its basically a figure 8 with pegged blocks they always require boring/honing because of the distortion induced during fitting however the "closed" blocks only ever need a light hone at most generally as for std factory CDB's then we can't quantify this better or worse but it basically replicates the facory design BUT with less impact on the water jacket |
