My STi type Ra project

Well as you know I picked up my Ra last week. And I've already started working on it :yeah:

Thought I'd keep a project thread going as I have a lot going on in the next few months.

Here we go!

As I got it :

MY97 Headlights and Sidelights - £20

MY97 Grill with Pink badge - £45

Just deciding weather to go for the Alli V3-6 Ra bonnet or a Carbon Fibre one.

Things to do this week:

Remove front mudflaps and reposition.

Will keep you posted.

Decided to stick with the V2 bonnet for time being. Looking into the STi 8 brembo conversion.

If Subaru sprint series goes ahead next year, then I'll be entering the Ra.

Looking forward to the ring trip aswell

Re: My STi type Ra project

Well last night the power steering belt shredded to pieces, luckily while it was stationary. I managed to get it home, not using any excess electricity (felt like I was in Apollo 13).

And ordered a new belt, which will arrive on Tuesday

The car will hopefully have some more done to it by the time of Japbash, where it will be pride of place on the JDesigns stand.

You going to graphic it all up then? And is it a secret, or can you give us a clue what your doing? :)

Re: My STi type Ra project

Funny enough I'm not.

At the moment I'm staying with the white/black "panda" look. But wanting to go for some 17" Volk TE37 in white (not gravels) and a carbon facelift bonnet painted black sometime soon.

Not after stupid power either. 300-320 would keep me happy.

It's going to be a marmite car, but then again it's not going to be used for normal Subaru things :D

Love the car, just be careful when my ps/belt went it damaged the aircon belt on the outside edge.

Jas@JPP 21-09-2009 06:55 PM

Mine was fine, but i took the belt off as I'm removing the system this week.

Hope to shed some more weight this weekend.

Nice project mate, any updates?

Jas@JPP 19-01-2010 10:33 PM

Currently it's sitting in the drive awaiting new headers and up pipe. The Ejits I got to fit them have seriously ruined the car. So I'm currently trying to nurse it back to health and will be posting some info up in the next week or so.

Chunk 19-01-2010 10:36 PM

Poor RA

Hope she gets better soon

Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get it sorted......

Jas@JPP 03-04-2010 09:54 AM

as you know I've had serious problems with the RA after GT Developments f*ked it up. I am keeping a blog here http://project-jd.blogspot.com oo the project and will update this accordingly.

To date the car has been off the road for the last week, after finding problems with the manifold. Will get some photos up at some point today.

For the love of god DONT goto GT Developments in North Chailey!

Cheers for the heads up, i drive past them to work and wondered if they were worth using. But generally i won't use a garage without a recommendation, and nobody has recommended them to me!

Hope you get the problems with the RA sorted :)

Jas@JPP 05-04-2010 03:18 PM

Cheers, Steve.

Spent Thurs evening, All Friday and this morning working on it. Got a rolling road day on Saturday, so got to get my arse into gear. Awaiting some new gaskets and studs before I can put eberything back together.

I'll be at the next meet, even if I have to trailor the bastid thing!

Jas@JPP 09-04-2010 06:35 PM

Off to SRR tomorow for it's first DYNO Run, 16 years ago it was 280bhp (factory figures). I'd be happy if it makes that :)
