Lucky's Wagon STI
After owning it a month and it being sat in the garage looking sorry for itself I finally had a day and a bit this weekend to get to work on reviving her!.
Snowfoam, wash, Megs compound, Blackfire polish and Blackfire wax/sealant and she is looking a lot better. Paint/bodywork is really good, particularly for a 16 year old car. No rust, No dings, No nasty scratches and very few stone chips, so really pleased. Still needs bumper clips and the front bumper re alining, the splitter needs repainting along with the side skirts tho these could easily be stripped back to the original plastic look as most of the paint has flaked where it didn't bond property to the plastic when they were painted. Would love a nice set of 18"Prodrive PFF7's at some point or just a refurb. Mechanically, a good service, new shocks as the front are very bouncy and possibly a brake upgrade, but all in good time. Firstly a service and check over. Anyways, here she is, the hawks long awaited replacement. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps188e8bc9.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...psb88db453.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps582f2779.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...psc6d22803.jpg Oh and not forgetting a couple of additions!!! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...psd2c3b424.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps40415dff.jpg |

Really nice Steve :polish:
I love it, still thinking of doing the R black...or some stupid colour.
Looks a cracking car there and in the best colour.
Cheers chaps. Its taking shape slowly. I am slowly finding out bits about its history etc. Mechanically its a standard MY97 STi. Its had light mods to brakes and suspension (H & R Springs) and a Hayward and Scott back box. Apart from that there has been a small fortune spent on it cosmetically with a full Version 6 front end including bumper, lights etc, wheels, carbon bits under the bonnett. Nice thing is there are receipts for pretty much everything done and every MOT.
Would love to have a peek fella maybe at a meet or ill pop over. Remember this wagon from the squadron days and always admired its looks and stealhy'ness!

More than welcome anytime Rich. Would be good to get some advice on some bits anyway as you seem to have stripped yours back and done everything!! From what I understand It was a pretty spiffing example back in the squadron days. Just needs a few bits and it'll be back up there again. Getting used to driving it now aswell. SO different to the hawk that it took some getting used to, but its so raw and goes like the clappers!:-D |

But I don't mind cruising down to your way Scott / Steve one eve as I'm furthest out. Maybe the harrow on a Friday night if that's close for you Steve also. |
very nice mr lucky
Looks lovely Steve. Watch the sun visor angle, particularly parked on a slope!!
Makes me wish I'd bought it even more:wedgie:

Very nice mate, I've a blib wagon myself, but something looks so right about a nice classic wagon. I'm quite tempted by one myself, but not sure if I'll feel spoilt by the (comparative! ) luxuries of the newage.
I've only ever been in one classic and that was an early uk one, which was pretty horrible tbh!! Still, yours is a cracker!! |

The classic is more basic, but has a really nice rawness to it that makes it a lot of fun to drive. Love em all though!! |
Took the day off today to get some jobs done on the scoob, mainly the side skirts. All done, still need to buff them up with some g3 but pleased with the colour match. A few pics of various stages
Sanded http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps6cb1bdef.jpg Primed http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps346096da.jpg Basecoat (one of four) http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps716c202a.jpg 4 coats of clear and finished http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps43399dd7.jpg And a couple of the car. The eagle eyed of you will notice the tints have gone!! That was another afternoons work! Personally I prefer it without, tho I know some will prefer it with. A couple of the windows had started to show signs of old age so thought it was time for them to go. I think it somehow looks cleaner without them. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps42b62843.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps724ed9fe.jpg And.... While I was at it, my old BBQ was looking sorry for itself so it's now mica black!!!!!! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...psbb3b4ef4.jpg |
good job lucky, and best thing for the leader other then the bin!:-D:doubleup:
Very nice Steve. looks amazing!
So when we coming round for the bbq then?? lol |
did you lacquer them?
Quote:
i like it alot, what did you use to take the glue off the window as want to remove the rears on mine
Nice work Steve :ok: (and the bbq lol)

If you do get glue left, then strong thinners. I had run out and it was slow going using the wife's nail varnish remover. In the end, after trying a few different things, De-icer took it off!!. |
Cheers guys. Its not 'body shop' standard but once its flattened and polished it will look good and certainly a million times better than it was. Its just nice to give it a go and not worry to much.
Looking good mate:10::10:
Nice job done there Steve looks very good and good to see the leader papers being put to good use lol
Nice job Steve :)
Great job Steve. Agree with you about the tints. It's either all or none. (Mine was all). Never been a fan of rears only.
Looks perfect mate
