Need to sell up.

Hi all, as the title says I need to sell my Scooby. Its a 2004 Sti type UK with 31000 miles on the clock.I have had the car from new. It had £5k of extras fitted from new including PPP, 18 inch prodrive badged wheels, uprated stereo and a few other bits. It also has Defi gauges fitted. Unfortunately it is now out of mot and has basically been sitting on the drive with the odd short trip now and then. Is there much call for Scooby's out there ? And what sort of price should I be looking at as I don't think even on the road they go for much more than about £5k. Obviously I will be open to sensible offers. I have not put this in the cars for sale area yet as I just wanted some advice first.

Graham.

Lucky 13-09-2015 02:22 PM

A one owner 2004 STI PPP with 31000 on the clock will be worth significantly more than £5k assuming it has history and is in nice condition reflective of the mileage. I would say if it's a good example you are nearer £8000. Good ones are hard to come by especially with that mileage.

scotty 13-09-2015 03:21 PM

As Lucky say's looking at £8000 with that mileage and condition .

Steve_PPP 13-09-2015 04:49 PM

I've got 5k right here right now for it

2004 STI PPP with only 31k on the clock - if its genuine mileage with no faults and in half decent condition, i'd look to advertise at probably £8500, then taking an offer just over £8k. They've held their value well in the last 2-3 years and in some cases gone up.

Not sure where you got £5k from, thats WRX money for that age.

DamonHill 13-09-2015 05:14 PM

I suppose £7k would be a fair price, as it was last serviced in2010 (oil change and cam belt) but that was at 29000 on the clock, as the present mileage is just over 31000 it hasn't done much and the pads/disc could do with replacing. a few paint chips on the front but as its 11 yrs old they can only be expected. It did have new doors on the passenger side when a young driver forgot to observe and act upon a give way sign when it was only 7 months old but you cant tell.

scotty 13-09-2015 05:41 PM

The question is it black or the boring blue:lol:

Is it registered as cat c/d ? If so, that'll bring you back down to your £5k price I reckon....

DamonHill 13-09-2015 06:18 PM

Of course its blue, ...................you mean to say they make em in other colours.

Worth a try .

Lucky 13-09-2015 07:43 PM

You'd have been told if it was cat c/d'd at the time. You could always do an HPI check.

Don't think I was told anything, car got repaired and I got it back. Cant see anything on old or present insurance doc's.

Lucky 13-09-2015 07:52 PM

Should be fine then mate.

Banstead Stig 13-09-2015 10:16 PM

Two new doors on a seven month old car is unlikely to have been bad enough for it to be a Cat C or D.

You'd have been bloody unlucky if that was the case in my opinion.

Rdlangy1 14-09-2015 07:49 AM

GLWTS :ok:

Ginola 14-09-2015 11:32 AM

I would advertise at £8k if it was mine or a little more as others have said..but.. I would also MOT it before doing so.. just book it in ;)
Without the MOT will dent your profits most likely more than the cost of any remedial work if its been sat for a long time, assuming things like crappy / rusty brake pistons and so on, (make sure to put some fresh fuel in) got any pics? :)

DamonHill 19-09-2015 06:21 PM

Going to see if my local garage will pick it up on TR plates for an mot. Then I will put it up for sale if all goes well.

says the below on gov website

If the MOT has run out
You can’t drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has run out. You can be prosecuted if caught.

The only exceptions are to drive it:

to or from somewhere to be repaired
to a pre-arranged MOT test

so you just need to pre-arrange an mot and wont need trade plates.

DamonHill 19-09-2015 07:11 PM

SORN it end of August so will have to be plated there and back.

Red Baron 19-09-2015 07:17 PM

You're ok if the MOT is booked and you can confirm an appointment if pulled by the police, after all, you can't tax a car that isn't MOT'd, it does need to be insured though.

Ginola 19-09-2015 08:04 PM

Need to sell up.

You can drive to your local garage for an Mot as Long as you have booked an appointment, I would not let someone I did not know drive my car!

Sorry couldn't see Redbarrons post.. What he said ;)

DamonHill 14-10-2015 07:51 PM

I'll admit, they're a bugger to keep clean. For some reason every single fly on the M25 seems to want to commit suicide on my windscreen every weekend and with evenings getting dark early now it's getting harder to keep clean.

But let's face it, when a black car has had a good clean and wax though, they look the sh*t
