What do people think 'Track' photo's will sell a car ?

The last thing I want to see when buying a car are pictures of it being spanked on a track :

1 carefull elderly owner, never raced or rallied ??

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2580401.htm

chris1977 08-03-2011 10:33 PM

both of them they want far to much money for anyway

i would not go look at ether of them when i am looking to change cars

Justin 08-03-2011 11:08 PM

Depends on the car!

If I were to sell my car for any reason, I would like to think pics of it a TOTB and its collection of trophies as a plus point and dare I say make it more valuable!!

BTW my car is too far gone to be sold as a road car anymore

admin 09-03-2011 07:21 AM

Is it not a case of the ones showing as being on track are the honest sellers?

Most enthusiast owned cars would have done some form of track / handling day in there time...... so not really a problem.

Unless you buy brand new, you'll never know how the cars been driven or looked after. The only thing is, with the type of car its not as big a problem as maybe it would be with another make / model?

Chunk 09-03-2011 08:41 AM

One careful owner, never ragged, apart from when i blitz it round a track like in this photo :fool:

worzel 09-03-2011 09:09 AM

This is a complete black and white thing.

If it says never raced or rallied and they then post pics like this, they get what they deserve.

But as said in this thread, most enthusiasts will have at least one track day, even if it's just a taster session, most people just to get the pictures.

IMHO, if the service history is spot on and the checks you give it when looking at a car add up, then generally it should be ok.

If anyone ever has the slightest doubt, walk away.

Although in fairness, I would think twice about the bugeye advert, he's ragging the tits of the thing!

iam with you admin :ok:and another thing i would never flog my car and then buy it back as you never really no how its been treated

Anger 09-03-2011 01:03 PM

What would i prefer... A car thats looked after and checked for trackdays or one that has been ragged from the lights, drives down potholed roads and speeds over speed bumps....

Hmmm let me see

yes but how can you proof it..you cant

Chunk 09-03-2011 01:12 PM

I'd rather have SilverSurfers car.

As long as the car has been well looked after i'd be happy.

Good thing about buying off forum members, you can check back on the forums about the car and most people know what the cars are like

Chunk 09-03-2011 01:14 PM

James. I'd have your car anyday. I know a fair bit of it's history. It has been pushed a bit, but well looked after and done properly

Anger 09-03-2011 01:39 PM

It has a better spec, is a lot stronger and is in better condition than when it was just a road car

i knew it did drag stuff before me, did that put me off... Hell No

Same as, I want to see all the invoices. I keep absolutely everything that I have done to the car, where it's been done, even halfrauds invoices for oil. :geek:

AndyWRX 09-03-2011 04:52 PM

Depends entierly on the car and the owner, if someone had pics up like that but had all the paperwork to back it up to show it had been looked after then would it really matter?

If they put on the advert never raced or rallied or tracked etc then put pics up like that then thats just a blatent lie.

Anger 09-03-2011 07:44 PM

And people dont drive hard on the road ?

I'd rather know a cars seen track use then not and find out after

i was looking at a Forester STi and the fella said it was just his weekend car and was only used on the road, he then sent me 50 pics of the car and in the middle was 4 pics from Santa pod on the strip, i didnt care it had been the quarter, i lost interest in the car as he lied

ralliart didz 09-03-2011 07:55 PM

:agreed: if the seller lies or knowingly hides the info then walk away or don't bother:nod:

Have to say though, both the links in the original post seem ok to me!

...and this. Chances are that if you are buying any modded Scoob, the owner will, at some point, have posted on a forum, so a quick trawl will reveal more on the car and its history.

As has been said though, the first whiff of BS, then its time to walk away!

simonairheadz 10-03-2011 04:51 PM
