Big brake - retro fit?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has tried retrofitting large calipers from a different make/model onto a subaru impreza?

I.E a friend of mine managed to fit Audi R8 calipers onto an Audi s3. Of course I am looking for something much cheaper than R8 calipers lol

I currently have a 1993 wrx with 2 pots on the front.

I have also heard you can use toyota 4 pots which can be had much cheaper than the subaru branded 4 pots.

Thanks

Plenty of sti brembos around which will mount directly to hub. Wheel offsets will need checking.

in general its not offset but inner wheel spoke design / clearance that is the issue.......

as an example new-age WRX & STi wheels are very similar offsets (approx ET53) and yet WRX wheels will not clear Brembo's........

Very expensive now though. You'd pay more for a scabby knackered set these days then I paid for a near new set in 2006

The Cadillac Brembos are cheap as chips (new) and can be fitted fairly easily I believe mounting brackets can be had off the shelf.

Think I'm going to look into this.

I was hoping to find some crazy 6 pot caliper which could bolt directly into my scooby haha

I mentioned before my friend who had audi R8 8 pot calipers on his (very highly modded) s3 and that was CRAZY good at stopping. To the point that the stopping was more impressive than the (450hp) acceleration!

from memory they are even more bulky than the original STi ones and hence wheel clearance is more of an issue........
