Exact same thing happened on my wife's classic Subaru, the bulbs were blown and when she went to change them they had rusted themselves completely to the bulb housing...so she is going to save up for brand new STI light units.SJ.

For now until i paint the core black lol .

Ginola 02-05-2017 02:11 PM

Only lightly dust it on the fins, go mad on the end cans if you wish!

SpecB 02-05-2017 02:33 PM

Use the Eastwood radiator paint from Frosts Automotive.
http://www.frost.co.uk/eastwood-radi...k-aerosol.html

Less impact on Intercooler efficiency and very long lasting compared to standard satin blacks.

:) this :)

scotty 02-05-2017 04:04 PM

I will just use standard halfrauds standard satin black as the one i have on the moment still looks good from my painting techniques:-D

scotty 03-05-2017 10:54 AM

The issue is you'll need to touch it up too often and risk getting too think a paint layer on the fins, thereby reducing the efficiency of the intercooler - The Eastwood paint lasted 5 years on my Bugeye without needing a touchup - the satin black on my front grille was destroyed in about 2 months.

Plus without priming (more paint layers) you will find the satin black doesn't take as well as the Eastwood will on bare metal.

Do it once, do it right!

I reckon you're building the first ever cardboard Subaru.

I'm guessing that's a new set of rear lights, make sure you seal them properly when you fit them.
