There's a dark bronze colour that looks great with the black.

I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean.

Reece_sti 25-07-2016 09:28 PM

Yeah there like the same colour as the callipers, look so nice! Thats what they were originally not sure what too go for lol!

Banstead Stig 25-07-2016 09:31 PM

The colour I'm thinking of is darker than the Brembo callipers.

I'll search out a picture later.

NL03Scooby 25-07-2016 09:32 PM

When I put my dark anthracite wheels on mine I was surprised at how good they looked, originally I thought they might have looked bland on a black car but go nicely.

I do like gold with the black, certainly worth a thought but you risk loosing the car in a sea of blue and gold and black and gold Scoobs, as said above, bronze would be a nice choice.

In my experience Spit and Polish are far from spot on :nono:

Lepsons on the other hand are :10:

Given your reputation for wheels, that's a recommendation not to be ignored!

Steve_PPP 26-07-2016 08:24 AM

I've got wheels reburbed by WheelWorksUK (Crawley) and Lepsons (Kent).

Lepsons did the better job.

Lucky 26-07-2016 08:34 AM

Anthracite for me.

Though black and gold still look good. I guess its what you like best.

Frenchie 26-07-2016 09:49 AM

Agree with Steve, anthracite for me.

Sti mayhew 26-07-2016 06:36 PM

Yep another for anthracite.
Agree with big e spit and polish are not spot on, if you think they are your refurb from lepsoms or places like the wheel Specialest will be absolutely incredible :drive:

Reece_sti 26-07-2016 07:25 PM

Really ive always used them never had any problems but i might try one of the others and see how they compare! Then getting some new rubber, anyone got any goood recomendations? Thinking of semi slicks altho not sure how they would do with everyday driving?

SpecB 26-07-2016 08:23 PM

Toyo 888s or the new R1rs get good reviews but Lethal in the wet.

Steve_PPP 26-07-2016 08:54 PM

The Nangkang NS-2R's are pretty grippy for a semi-slick but you could live with them every day imo as the noise isn't too bad and they are still fairly good in the wet. Toyo R888's are a bit mental for a daily and a bit expensive too, especially considering tread depth.

For road tyres.... Eagle F1 AS2's or Vredestein Sessantas win my vote.

Ginola 26-07-2016 09:23 PM

Pilot Cup 2's If you can get them in the size you want. They are a really really good tyre, suitable for daily use and track day work, they are not cheap but are a lot harder wearing than 888's (180 wear rate as apposed to 100 on 888s or 120 on the soft Nangkangs) they offer exceptional levels of grip. (Hypercars and supercars on trackdays use them.)

I currently use 888's for trackdays and Eagle F1 asym 2's for wet/road use the goodyears are a great all round tyre but you can overheat them on track in the dry.

I would not use a dedicated track tyre like an 888 on a heavy car on the road, you put too many heat cycles through them and they become hard, they are also generally not suitable to have on the car in the winter as the temperature in the UK drops to low for them overnight.

Another vote for Cup 2's
As for colour I always liked black chrome on my black bug :)

Reece_sti 26-07-2016 09:41 PM

Great info guys been looking at all of them, always a hard choice! Leaning towards the 888's tho, gonna be at brands hatch next month so need the semi's. Aslong as its not too wet that is!

Ive got a set of dark anthracite if you'd like to see them.

shame they are a different PCD though, but you could put them beside your scoob for an idea.

Reece_sti 27-07-2016 05:17 PM

No particularly good shots of the wheels but this will give you an idea.
