Lol well you no what I mean max bhp without over stressing the engine
So 360 would be ok ?

SpecB 14-02-2013 08:57 AM

360 should be fine on an STI lump, the failure level increases as you up the power and depends on the quality of the mapping, my engine let go at 370bhp but this was probably due to poor fuel and/or oil starvation due to not having a baffled sump.
350 starts testing the limits of the gearbox though!

Yeah gearboxes aren't the best iv heard.

I do have a sump baffle fitted and a modified 11mm oil pump.
Is your sti,

think it was more likely you ragging it on the autobarn delimited bits , imprerza's dont like sustained high revs

What's a good temp for the oil to get to before you can put your foot down ?

C. J. 14-02-2013 09:44 AM

depends on oil

Type-r-russ 14-02-2013 09:46 AM

15-50 pro r silkoline

SpecB 14-02-2013 10:53 AM

I'm over cautious and don't open up fully until at at least 70, usually wait until 80 if I can. I think 60 or so is safe.

Type-r-russ 14-02-2013 11:02 AM

I no what you mean im over cautious is well best to be safe than sorry.

Type-r-russ 14-02-2013 11:44 AM

Is it worth me fitting an oil cooler ??

SpecB 14-02-2013 01:57 PM

I run one as do most with highly modded cars especially if on track at all.
