BIG"E" 13-01-2012 07:54 PM

Out of interest what have you had done?

C. J. 13-01-2012 08:10 PM

Existing engine out , heads off , second hand bottom end put in with new head gaskets . All the buckets where mixed up so sorted that , all the cam carriers where also mixed up even though each one tells you on them where they go . Clean sump up and removed alot of silicone from every part removed . Clean every thing twice in the parts washer .Refit cam belt , inlet manifold , go back to standard headers and up pipe . Put the engine back in . Fit apexi air filter & last make a bracket to mount new fuel reg .

Nice one CJ.

Greig 13-01-2012 08:32 PM

Major then, what was wrong with the old engine then?

C. J. 13-01-2012 08:47 PM

Lots !

Scott.T 13-01-2012 09:02 PM

Nice one, glad it got sorted.
So when do you get the pleasure of taking the ****e bit's and and dumping it on the drive of last owner ?
Let's hope that's the last of the corners he cut.........

C. J. 13-01-2012 09:33 PM

Not really the last owners fault , it's the poeple that built it .
I think his name is Mr silicone and the was more of than in a pip implant !

What with that and the Legacy gearbox and diff it had IIRC, Sim's not had a good time. Hopefully it'll be happy times from now on.......

Out of interest why do cam carriers have to be in specific locations

Bloody hell. That needed a lot of work to put right. Will be good to see it on route to Germany. :EVO:

Sounds like the guy that built mine last time I had mixed up valve shims odd pistons bolts missing reused stretch bolts cheap head gaskets that let go after 10,000mls broken oil temp switch wheel centre missing front camber 20mm out and the list goes on and on.... Oh and the clutch was replaced with one that didn't fit and slipped all the time. If I ever see him again I will BREAK his neck.
