New WRX STi

We are ready to order a new 2014 WRX STi. Only problem is the UK price is 29k and the French price is 36k. Anybody got any ideas how we can do it cheaper, we of course need a lefthand drive car.Wondering if we can purchase elsewhere in Europe (Holland/Belgium/Germany) or where ever its cheaper, than import into France.Any info very welcome, thanks.

Mortster 31-03-2014 08:14 PM

Try Switzerland, when we drove through, there were Subaru dealers everywhere.

simba 01-04-2014 06:49 AM

Holland is good less tax I think

scotty 01-04-2014 12:33 PM

Germany I recon tax free haven is a good bet .

Rdlangy1 01-04-2014 12:36 PM

agree ^^

Lucky 01-04-2014 01:13 PM

Were some not imported from malta or cyprus, though that was probably back when they had their own currency so that advantage has probably ceased. Do you reckon we could get a group buy going?

Plenty come into the UK from Malta/Cyprus, but thats because they drive on the left like us so they're easily sell-able in the UK :)

555_Si 01-04-2014 03:07 PM

I thought most cars got stolen in the UK then shipped to Cyprus.

Cyprus used to buy a lot of Jap cars before joining EU and Euro, now they buy euro boxes.

Switzerland - I don't think they know the word Cheap do they?

Can you import cars into differet European countries without paying any import tax, I guess it makes sense that you don't.

Frenchie 01-04-2014 08:28 PM

Buying cars in Cyprus is very expensive,40% min import duty.I believe you can buy in any Eu country and than import(free market).First instance is to find which country is cheapest.Have emailed Subaru Euro headquarters, but no reply yet.Always thought Holland was a good bet.

scoobycoops 04-04-2014 09:21 PM

Frenchie,

You'll have to get one of these and let Lorraine drive......
You can pretend to drive..... like Maggie in the Simpsons...
And Lorraine will probably keep your licence longer!

Sorry - I have no good advice re: buying
xx

Lucky 05-04-2014 11:33 AM

Terry, do you know when the dealers are getting one in?. I will call culverwells Monday I think and see if they have any idea.

Lucky 07-04-2014 07:03 PM

Definitely growing on me. I am sensing another black STI will be on the driveway very soon.

Recent reviews have been good. Just need to get behind the wheel of one and then place an order. The next question is COLOUR. These are the others that I would consider though black is still favourite I think.

Sti mayhew 07-04-2014 07:15 PM

Very very nice, grey or white for me please!

Matt23 07-04-2014 07:28 PM

Scott.T 07-04-2014 08:19 PM

Grey

scotty 07-04-2014 08:22 PM

Black .

thepieman 07-04-2014 09:18 PM

Does it matter?

We all know you'll get a black one:ok:

Frenchie 07-04-2014 09:18 PM

They seem to be released throughout Europe at the same time, best I can get from my French dealer is mid-May.Is the 4th colour on the chart deep blue mica?,may stick with that,if not possible black. Then again grey looks nice!!

Matt23 07-04-2014 09:18 PM

Now that I like a lot, I would change the wheels though :yeah:

Frenchie 07-04-2014 09:22 PM

Lorraines just seen this and she likes the RED!!!

Steve_PPP 07-04-2014 09:32 PM

Grey. :10:

Or blue if you think you can get away with still using it for work and not being too 'shouty'.

Not red, a lot of cars in that shade of red lately, and the Evo FQs come in that dark red too.

That's the WR blue pearl, then there is also a galaxy blue which is a bit darker (but still lighter than yours ) If I was to go for blue it would be the 'norm' WR. But it's going to be black for me in all probability... Or grey lol. Have you driven one yet terry?

Frenchie 07-04-2014 10:07 PM

Hi Steve,if you get a moment could you post up car in the 2 blue colours, thanks. Not driven one yet, don't think any are available yet.Guy at the dealership in France doesn't look to lively,so may try a test drive at Culverwells.

riiidaa 07-04-2014 10:58 PM

riiidaa 08-04-2014 09:43 AM

Frenchie 08-04-2014 08:14 PM

Read this earlier. Guess I must be one of the committed few!!! I'm actually pleased to hear that it's a bit ugly, a bit uncomfortable, a bit unrefined, a bit noisy and a bit lairy. That means it's everything I liked about my old one and one of the reasons I didn't buy anything German back then. I think with the pro r pack which is reported to add another 40 or so bhp, that should put it clear of the golf r's and s3's on performance and you can guarantee that it will be more involving to drive. Speaking of which, I must drive one, just in case it's none of the above!!! Spoken to culverwells and they reckon they'll have a demonstrator in 3/4 weeks.

There is a good half hour u.s review on you tube for it at the moment where they take it around Laguna seka. Worth a watch for anyone interested. It's still far more hard core than the other options which will appeal to some and not others.

They drone on a bit but it's quite a good review:

Agree with everything Steve says,I'am also one of the committed few. Will test drive in France as soon as they have one available and then place my order. Now black or grey????

I'm going Black again

simonairheadz 11-04-2014 09:54 AM

Dont get me wrong ive driven the sti 5 door and it drives fantastic, everything it should be but i guessits just every model that comes out has something we like and something we hate!
Hated bugeye headlamps hated hawkeye front and rear lights
Convinced myself to love a blobeye, then changed it to morretes lol
With the new models like most iconic cars they have taken the euro route in styling and lost
The tough street fighter image!

" And on the right road, in the right conditions, goes like nothing else. Exactly the things those early adopters in the mid 90s loved, and what set it apart from the crowd at the time. And still does." :yeah:
