SES Brugge Dec 2009

Right then folks

Time is marching on and Christmas is not a million miles away now.

We really need to get this booked and sorted by the end of the month to get in somewhere half decent.

I was going to suggest the weekend of 4th / 5th / 6th December or 11th / 12th / 13th? Which will mean going out on the Friday morning and returning on the Sunday afternoon / evening.

How does that date sit with everyone? I know that BigE & Chris won't unfortunately be able to make that as they have a family wedding in Mexico, the only weekend they could do was 19th / 20th, which is obviously the last week before Christmas.

Lifting the names from the earlier started thread, could you confirm
(a) that you still want to come (please write confirmed next to your name)
(b) preferred date (as above but with date)

We want to get this booked by 1st week in October really, so confirmation needed by end of the month please.

The list from the previous thread is as follows:

1: Worzel & Lusty Lustington (confirmed / either date)
2: BIG"E" + Chris 19/20th (please) might be able to join you on the 12th.
3: Crowman
4: 666subaru + Miss666subaru
5. Crazyjack
6. Steve_PPP + Claire
7. crow sti + kim
8. majorscooby + mrs
9. Iain

Hi guys. We are getting on time wise now, so need to know who is coming and who is not.

If no-one wants to do it this year, please say so. It's not a problem, it will be understood totally.

Steve_PPP 13-10-2009 09:01 AM

i'd still quite like to do this, but depends on numbers i guess.

i went to Brugge a couple of weeks before Christmas last year and it was their Christmas market and there was an ice palace thing down by the station - all great to see, but the city was absolutely rammed. It was so busy that when you tried to walk down the street it was a proper challenge because of all the people in the way! And trying to find a restuarant you could sit down and eat a nice meal in was a joke....

Might be worth seeing if the same things happening this year, and avoiding it if it is.

Crowman 13-10-2009 09:26 AM

Steve
The Christmas market is on every year, ice rink etc .
So bloody cold last year, felt like we were in bloomin lap land.
You are right it does get busy though.

I am still up for this if enough interest

Sammi and family can't do- Lack of passports being one reason, also not inclined to drive Sammi abroad in the winter.:tumbleweed:

worzel 13-10-2009 09:39 AM

Good stuff guys.

At least if we are in a hotel in Brugge we could have that as a bolt hole if we are struggling.

If we go first week in December it should be a little better hopefully. Last year we did that and whilst it was busy on the Saturday it wasn't unbearable. And we got a seat in a bar easy enough.

:yeah:

BIG"E" 13-10-2009 06:11 PM

I appreciate unfortunately I am not able to make this trip, but why not go down to Lille as we did last year it was a good trip ??

Just thought Id ask.

MrX??? 29-10-2009 02:47 PM

:brickwall:bump;)

Is this still in the offing? also, whats the rough costings of this trip? and is it a family friendly outing?

:santawave:on his way

worzel 29-10-2009 05:18 PM

I think it's died a bit of a death unfortunately.

Maybe we should look at a night away over here somewhere to cut down on the cost. As I think that is a probable reason for it not happening.

How does that sound?

Maybe somewhere like the Lake District?

Open to ideas

BIG"E" 29-10-2009 05:24 PM

The lake district is a wonderful place to go.

But wouldnt be any cheaper.

I know some wicked roads up there.

Lille.............. friday/saturday ........... in the new year, leave silly early in the morning, (cheap ferries and lots of noise) go for a drive around via belgium maybe, then go to the hotel in Lille we went last year, following day take a long drive to calais for shopping and come back late the following day, (cheap ferry again).

I reckon with ferries and hotel approx £100, allow £100 for fuel plus whatever you need to spend, job sorted:five:

Just an idea:idea:

worzel 30-10-2009 08:29 AM

That sounds like a plan Baz.

What does anyone think, I like this idea. :yeah:

willjenkins 30-10-2009 09:07 AM

666subaru 30-10-2009 03:34 PM

Saturday 30th January 2010, P&O Ferry leaves Calais at 16.10 and arrives at Dover at 16.40 cost £30.

Hotel info below and price includes per room and buffet style continental eat as much as you like breakfast for

approx 67 Euros (£60)
