My Hawkeye WRX
Hi All,
Bit of background into the car. The previous owner fitted: - Scorpion Stainless Steel Exhaust - Induction Kit - Upgraded brakes and tyres. - Dyno run - 226 BHP. So far I have: - Remapped - Dyno run - 272.9 BHP. - VF43 Turbo - Spark plugs changed - High-Flo cat fitted - Remap Tweak. - Dyno run - 336.3 BHP. - Front grille fitted. - Front splitter fitted. - Walbro fuel pump fitted. - New boot seal fitted. - Fog light covers fitted. - Alloys resprayed black. - Mudflaps fitted. - STI badges put on. Front was looking a bit bare and the WRX ones cost a fortune! - Vortex afterburner exhaust fitted. - Regular service - New front pads and discs (yellow stuff) - Brake line hosing changed. - Professional valet - Now producing roughly 350bhp. http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps5wnwjncp.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...pstkbsawkz.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps10ruessq.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...psiug9pdyw.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...psqpf156ym.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps8xqvrhaq.jpg Still to do: - Rear diffuser - STi intercooler - Rear windows blacked out |
Forgot to say above;
All modifications/tuning carried out by Stew & Craig @ TFS Racing. All remaps carried out by Duncan @ RaceDynamix. All dyno runs carried out @ Surrey Rolling Road. |
Wow - great results there with just uprated turbo!
Look forward to seeing the pics when they are up. Ryan :ok: |
It might make more with the standard Air box on rather than an induction kit,
Still nice result though the 43 is quite nice and linear as well :) |
Update:
Alloy's have now been resprayed gloss black. (Pics soon). Bottom grille bought. Fog light covers bought. Fuel pump Walbro 255 bought. Front splitter bought. New boot seal bought. The above are all being fitted on Wednesday by the lads @ TFS. |
Is this the most BHP you can get without spending mega money? ie opening the engine

But!!!! I believe there is someone on here that has run over 400 on a wrx lump how safe or how long that would last is any ones guess ;) |
Had a nice long drive to Liverpool and back this week so treated her to a clean. Few pictures of the work as well...

Thanks guys :).
I'm having the small dents and flakes fixed and resprayed next week. |
Very nice. That's a great looking car. Exactly how I would want mine to look
|
First post updated with more modifications and pictures as she's just had a valet.
|
Looking good :ok:
|
Looking very nice!
|
That's looking very cool :ok:
|
Looking sweet I'm liking that .

Very smart car, Hawkeyes are really growing on me and great results from a WRX. What plans have you got for it next?
|
Best thing of all, it was registered on 1st March so it's in the old tax band as well!
Nothing else performance wise. Thinking of putting a rear diffuser on and getting a c west style bonnet at some point in the future. Just about to upgrade the rear tyres as the ones on there at the moment are awful in the wet. |
Upgrade to a better caliper/braking system to keep up with the power?
Nice looking hawk btw. :ok: |
Agree with that, the WRX 4 pot calipers really aren't up to the job of stopping a 300+bhp newage very well. Don't throw money at better discs/pads hoping it'll help because its not worth it, change the calipers for something better.:)
|
Steve, any recommendations?
|
STI Brembo's? :ok: Or speak with Alyn @ AS Performance about some AP's or K-Sport? :ok:

Cheapest option will be a set of front brembos with standard-ish discs and better pads (plenty of options here). Your WRX discs are 297mm, whilst brembo discs will be 326mm. Would be fine for road use like this :) If you want to get into trackdays then I'd look at PFC discs and pads for the brembo calipers. Problem is cost - not cheap. I looked at this as as option but found that at about £500 for the discs/pads and £400 for the calipers, I was better off going the K-Sport route for about the same money. The 8 pot 356mm kit is normally about a grand these days (new). I've had mine a few years and beaten the crap out of them but they don't fade on track, and that's only with EBC Blue-NDX pads. When it comes to track work, nothing really compensates for the disc/pad size imo... |
Just to add something extra... i learnt the hard way back in 2011 as I threw money at discs/pads for the standard 4 pot caliper hoping it was up to the job. It wasn't.
These pads did less than 300 road miles and 4 x 15 minute sessions at Brands Hatch (from new). http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...p/Img_6061.jpg The 4 pot caliper is too small to dissipate sustained heat on track and it just melts. There was a thread on Scoobynet discussing this back in the day and EBC stated the pads in the pic above had been over 1100c (yes, eleven-hundred) as this is the temp the copper compound in them melts and causes the pads to smear. Toasty, and that was only a 250bhp wrx  This was using EBC pads sold for track/race use only! |

tread should be even amount front to rear. |
Got 4 new tyres on order with TFS Racing. They're being fitted next week.
I'll update with the brakes soon... |
