British Rallycross - Lydden - Monday 30th August

Anyone up for a bank holiday day out watching entertaining racing? The British Rallycross returns to Lydden Hill circuit in Kent on the 30th August.

A few of us went to the same event in April and it was a hoot :10: More details here: http://www.rallycrossuk.com/rd6.php

Costs £15 to get, you can see the whole circuit from pretty much anywhere and the racing is fast and action-packed

If you've never been before, take a look at the photo thread from April to get an idea: http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ead.php?t=4161

And a taster:

Who fancies it?

tbtstt 17-08-2010 02:02 PM

Hell YEAH! Definately up for this, be it rain or shine! Hopefully should be heading down with some Surrey Scoobers as well, so perhaps meet en route at Clacketts again?

Steve_PPP 17-08-2010 04:58 PM

hi mate :)

i'm actually in a bit of a dilemma now  the Mewla Rally is on the same weekend on the Sunday up on the Epynt ranges and as i'll have my diesel Pug by then, i've said i'd go up to that.

I know this is on the Monday, but it'll be late on the Sunday before i get back from Wales and i'll be knackered :D so i'm gonna have to think about it!

Hi, is the car park safe? Can you park up near the circuit?

Take a look at Google maps - you're basically free to park anywhere you like on the field next to the circuit, and can even watch the racing from the car if you want! If its dusty, just keep an eye on the wind direction though - and park out the way!

edit/

i took these 3 pics earlier this year, shows the whole layout from left to right :ok:

As Steve says you have a good choice of places to park and, if you pick a good spot, you can sit and watch the whole thing from inside/beside your car!

Lydden is unusual in that you can pretty much see the whole circuit from any position trackside.

Good pictures Steve,

I always park to the left, roughly in line with the turn in point to go round the hair pin on the 3rd picture.

Probably around 100 yds westward away from the track it is safe there.

I can also keep an eye on me scoob when its parked there because I normally watch the racing from the beginning of the hair pin which is highest part of the circuit.

Its also pretty good for getting out from there at the end, because its not to far down the field.

Not that ive ever been before much ,

The Gimp 25-08-2010 08:36 AM

I'm game.

Hope the grass and leading roads are flat enough. Bloody FMIC pipe work and exhaust. D'oh.

Steve

tbtstt 25-08-2010 11:58 AM

You can always leave the car at the top of the circuit mate, sure the ground is a bit flatter up there!

tbtstt 25-08-2010 09:26 PM

Sorry for the double postage folks, but the entry list is now up:

http://www.rallycrossuk.com/rd6_entry.php

Over 80 cars already - should be a cracking day!

NB: For any of you South East Scoobers/Evo Gayers thinking of coming to this, do you fancy meeting at Clacketts Lane Services (M25), at half 8 for a mini convoy down there?

Great Idea.

Trouble is living in Hastings that would double my journey, its a good drive from here.:drive::drive::drive::doubleup:

From the looks of things I am going to be in a convoy of one..:deadhorse:

Lots of people said last year how good the pictures were and what a great event it looked and they wished they had gone, to see motor racing at its best.

Where is every one ??

Driving the type of cars we all do I dont understand why this event is not better supported.

Convoy from Hastings anyone?

Its the one thing that has really surprised me about Subaru ownership/owners clubs. I was expecting that the majority of owners would be massively into rally and rallycross, with a minority interested in drag and the like. As it turns out the opposite seems to be true!

I know mate. Was only a few of us that used to go to the Tempest when I first owned a SUBARU.

And also same thing when I joined the M&S forum. I suffer from dyslexia so you can see why I have gone wrong a long the lines.

Oh Steve. Did you enjoy my tease of a audio text this morning? lol

Apology accepted. I needed a fresh pair anyway, as with a whole day of ALS on Monday my pants will be like porridge by Monday evening.

Worry not - I'm not going to have time to clean mine either!

I'd read that a couple more Belgium drivers (Pauwels and another) were going to get added to the Supercar class, but I can't see them on there yet - hopefully they will get added over the weekend.

Call yourself a rally fan? Wuss... ;-)

...sounds like a good day. Will there be photo evidence?

Bit of a patchy entry list in the end and a very high rate of attrition, but still a good days racing; a deserving win for Doran, especially as he looked like who could barely get in the car earlier in the day!

Was great to see so many familiar Scoobs in the car park as well!

Crowman 30-08-2010 09:23 PM

Of course

Was planning on doing both, but was just a long day (and a lot of walking) followed by a 4 hour drive home - couldn't really face another early start!

So, where are these pics? :yeah:
