London to Brighton tomorrow

Anyone else on here doing it tomorrow. Hope this wind calms down, that'll make it hard work!

Steve_PPP 15-06-2013 09:35 AM

You doing it then mate?

I've been saying for about 15 years that i'll do it one year, never happened and now I'm too unfit (and lazy!)

Yes mate. Doing it this year. I bought a road bike a year ago when I sold the scoob as I needed to cheer myself up and then set this as a challenge. Not so keen on the leaving brighton at 4.30am though!!

Steve_PPP 15-06-2013 09:49 AM

Good on you mate, hope it stays dry. :)

Cheers mate. Not so worried about the rain, I just hope the wind calms down. Wont be much fun battling against that.

Greig 15-06-2013 09:55 AM

Are you starting mega early then?
Not looking forward to the rain tomorrow

Scooby Si 15-06-2013 09:56 AM

Not doing tomorrow... But I'm all booked up for the Off-Road Ride in September. I did it in 2011 and said 'never again' when I finished.... But some how I've ended up signing up again. We've got a group of about 10 of us doing it together so should be good fun!

Enjoy tomorrow, hope the weather holds up for you!

Frenchie 15-06-2013 10:00 AM

Have run it a few times(in under 6hrs) ,but never cycled it.If anyone fancies it next year I would be up for it.Good luck Steve, forecast is for lighter winds tomorrow.

It's not the wind you need to worry about Steve its the big beacon climb near the end that seems to never end!!!

I've done the L2B about 6 times now ( not this year though) and thourghly enjoyed every one of them, love the early 6:30am start then coast into Brighton for fish and chips. The decent from the beacon is mental and at 40moh odd it does make your eyes water. lol

An average time for me on the road bike is 4.5hours with the odd wee stop. Worth carrying a few banana's and a mars bar in the jersey back pockets.

Good luck fella.

BIG"E" 15-06-2013 12:23 PM

Well done Steve and good LUCK !!!

Lucky 15-06-2013 01:09 PM

Cheers guys. Really looking forward to it. It raises a bit of money and helps keep me fit too. Dont think i'm gonna be breaking your record Rich, and you are right, 40mph on a bike that weighs next to nothing is as scary as a lap of the ring!!!

Funny that, banana's and mars are exactly whats in the pocket!!

Well done Steve, not a bad time at all. Did you enjoy the decent from the beacon?

It does get busy at the start which is why I choose to start at 6-6:30.

simba 16-06-2013 05:28 PM

Well done mate good show for a old fella lol !! Hope you get a rest now and don't fall asleep at your desk at work

Lucky 16-06-2013 05:50 PM

Thanks guys. The descent at the end makes it all worth it!! Time was ok i guess. We stopped a couple of times. Actual time moving was 4.48 according to strava. My legs are like jelly tonight though. :angst:
