Knocking

Ive had this problem with many cars but only fixed it on one, never bothered with the other ones. Driving around Knockhatch (private roads) , specially on road stones at slow speeds theres loud knocking from the suspension somewhere, to be honest louder than any other car. On normal roads its fine.

On previous cars its been something like the droplinks or anti rollbar? The rubber gaitor type has worn so on bumpy roads it would be metal hitting metal. I think.

Could it be that on these or is it a common fault?

if it has sti rear shocks they were prone to knocking.

yeah could be droplinks or arb bushes.

is the any play when you turn the steering wheel, that would indicate track rod ends.

over a bump it could be lower ball joints on front arms.

best is to get it up in the air and start looking at all suspension joints with a lever bar to look for play.

Rear shocks can knock as they wear due to the angle they sit at.
The pushrod tries to go into the shock at an angle so wears slightly.
The STi shocks can be stripped cleaned and rebuilt, but WRX shocks can only be binned. New ones are cheap enough though if you just want stock replacements.

Its been lowered if that helps but would need to look at receipts to see whats been done. In the air it goes.. well about a foot high anyway.
