SES. CHRISTMAS DINNER 19th December

:santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave: :santawave:

After quite a few phone calls I have decided that the Christmas meal will be held at THE WOODMAN.
http://www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/

Its fairly central and has good road links to the SES area.

To make this a more sociable event at this festive time of year I have thought about making this an evening event, so that peoples other halves can come along and not be bored out off their brains standing round in a cold car park whilst we talk scoobs.

The meeting time will at 7.00pm.

Please let me know your thoughts about having a nice relaxed evening meal,
as opposed to a lunch time meet.

Yes I sure do.

£19.95 pp

That includes 3 courses, the menu is not yet published but I have spoken to the Landlord and he assures me its special, it will soon be available on the pubs web site.
They also have a full menu alongside the Christmas one.

I am looking forward to this meeting.

Hi Will,

I have just spoken to the Landlord and he is on the case, unfortunately they dont have any accommodation at the pub. I have just googled Travel lodge there isnt one that close by.

Give us a couple of days. The Landlord has said he will contact me with some info.

worzel 11-10-2009 08:09 PM

There should be plenty of places in and around Sevenoaks which is only about 3-4 miles away.

Scott.T 11-10-2009 08:19 PM

I fancy a go at this...would want a few sherbet's though.

Scooby Wez 11-10-2009 08:21 PM

Sounds like a plan with staying over.I am working on babysitters at the moment so will add to the list when i know.

Crowman 11-10-2009 08:38 PM

I thought that it would be more sociable to have an evening meal, so people can dress up a little if they wished to and celebrate the coming of Christmas.

But if people would prefer a lunch time meeting please let me know on this thread, as I said on my original post.

We obviously want as many people as possible at the meeting so I will go with the flow, the decision as they is yours.

C. J. 27-10-2009 06:16 PM

If its lunch then we can come

worzel 27-10-2009 06:27 PM

I just think we should cater for the majority. And the majority seem to be saying afternoon.

I am happy doing either, but we have to consider what most people want to do.

BIG"E" 28-10-2009 06:00 PM

:agreed: Mr.Worzel,

But where are the majoritry? Only one person has made any comments to me.

Everyone please feel free to comment on this .

Who feels it would be good to have an evening meal ?

Who would prefer a lunch time Christmas meal?

Steve_PPP 28-10-2009 06:14 PM

i still like the evening idea personally, we have lunch time meets all the time so why not do something different this time round?

And Claires driving = i'm :beer::beer:

BIG"E" 29-10-2009 05:28 PM

I have just spoken to the Landlord and he is on the case to find a B&B, close by.

C. J. 03-11-2009 06:43 PM

It is only a suggestion but would you not be better of finding some were you can stumble into say like a brewers fayre with a holiday inn attached or a beafeater with a travel lodge ?

I am always open to suggestions.

I have thought of that, CJ.

Personally I prefer home made food rather than mass produced, and seeing as its the Christmas meal whats better than a nice country pub? I agree that if it had a travel lodge next door it would be even better.

This meeting is not fixed in concrete as I have said members suggestions are welcome.

C. J. 03-11-2009 08:10 PM

Not keen on the food at either type of place but if its about friends and drink I think th food is passable it would be a easy option

2-jaffacake-tone 03-11-2009 10:34 PM

as long as there is aclohol

stiggy 03-11-2009 11:32 PM

Food is really good at this venue, shame about the lack of hotel but I'm sure anyone wanting to come will have a good time... Drinking or not :doubleup::doubleup:

Brad Wrx 04-11-2009 12:09 PM

Spoke to big e other night all sounds good to me, good luck peole think me and Jaffa are on the beer

SpecB 05-11-2009 09:57 PM

OK I'll say yes to this Sian will come too but ideally we'd like somewhere with a crashing option, it's a long drive back and a long way to go with no beer at the end!

Been looking more closely and the most sensible hotel option I could find was in Sevenoaks and was £120 a person - with a £10/15 taxi ride to get there from the Pub without working out what to do with cars makes this a very expensive night out!
