SSC Tuatara - Worlds Fastest Super Li(C)ar?

I must admit when you hear speeds of over 300 mph that seems quite futuristic. Drowing view that the run was not > 300mph.

surely if was announced as a "World Record" then it had to meet certain guidelines and rules otherwise its simply the same as my 10,000bhp Micra I have parked behind the pub ??

p.s. my mate reckons we were just shy of 500mph last night but had to back off to get into MaccyD's.........

Shelby's response - looks like they are going to run again and the first will not stand.

My thoughts exactly. SSC have built a fast car (or two) in the past which I am sure have been legit, so I am not sure why they would lie now.

If it had been Hennessy making this sort of claim then I'd definitely be suspicious!

Watched the youtube content from Shmee, then Robert & Misha (Apex) yesterday morning and looks a very strange situation. Can't believe that SSC would have been that careless when doing a record attempt to just chuck an uncalibrated GPS system in the car and hope for the best.

Interesting that the GPS manuafacturer are now distancing themselves from it too, saying they were not present and have not done any work to verify the data. This is despite SSC releasing an earlier press statement saying the opposite...

Dewetron - "Despite publications on several websites and social media channels, DEWETRON neither approved nor validated any test results for the world record attempt by SSC Tuatara captured on the video. No DEWETRON employee was present during the record attempt or its preparations."

Having watched the video as well, its clearly incorrect. The car is still accelerating when the driver lifts off at (the supposed 331mph) - at a rate that suggests it could have even reached 350mph on their GPS before flattening out and reaching the limit. Surely that should have rung alarm bells that something was wrong with their data?

Someone screwed up
