Dump valves??

I was told that because I have a bugeye there is only one type I can use. Is this true?? If so which one. And if I bought one off fleabay. What should I get with it a fitting kit or do they replace the standard one as a straight swap? Blonde question will it need a map tweak for this? Many thanks wonk

Also pro's and con's for them. ?

Juppy 22-11-2011 05:52 PM

i have one on my bugeye, it replaces the standard one that is on there and is really easy to fit mine is a wrx hybrid dump valve,
you can adjust the settings depending on how loud you want it, pretty sure it is just an allen key to fit it

They good/bad for the car. The only person I know with a scoob is a right numpty. And knows sod all about mechanics. But thinks he knows all of it even after blowing up 5 scoobs!!

Juppy 22-11-2011 08:24 PM

to be totally honest it hasn't affected my car what so ever apart from a nice loud whoosh noise now :smblk:

+1. Had a baileys on my bugeye no problems but now back to standard.

So I'm not restricted to one type? Is it really as easy as bolt on. And Nothing else required?

Yep it's really easy to fit - have one on my Hawkeye, and it's a matter of removing two allen bolts and the recirc pipe. The hardest part is getting the recirc pipe back on if the valve can recirc, but a quick spray of WD40 helps no end...

I have a GFB Response which can be set to be full VTA, full recirculating or anywhere in between... I found that my car ran badly on full VTA, and so I have it set to somewhere near 60/40 recirc to VTA. That way I still get the woosh without the problems :) When I get fed up with the noise or fancy a change, just open the bonnet and twist the adjuster by hand and it goes full recirc. Great piece of kit.

Oh and they do nothing except make noise, unless you are running higher boost than the OE valve can cope with...

Hope that helps...

J.

yes its running on full VTA no problems with running though, maybe its just because its a different dump valve :|
