Looks like the top of my drive to me.....
Looking good Shane just how a scooby should ;-)

SpecB 08-10-2012 06:07 AM

That looks rather clean. Low mileage as well I bet?

BIG"E" 08-10-2012 06:38 AM

Very nice Shane,

I do hope it was worth the :wife::wife::wife::wife::wife:

:SMBLU:

impreza27 08-10-2012 07:39 AM

very nice and clean mate :10:

Red Baron 08-10-2012 08:38 AM

Make a change from the usual silver, blue and green, I wasn't sure but it's growing on me along with the grey leather interior.
Looks clean but rear arches and the rear edge of the sunroof need sorting and wheels need a serious refurb (not helped by me grinding the curb after the test drive).
Only 61K though with a full history and receipts for over £2k in the last 10 months for Cam belt, pulleys, tensioners, MAF and Lambda from Power Engineering and a new air con condensor and re-gas.

Shane

(I can see a change of user name coming up, Red Baron perhaps!)

Steve_PPP 08-10-2012 08:39 AM

Nice, that looks very tidy.

Genuine Speedline ST2's? love that wheel on classics

Me too , not seen a red one for a while now.

Red Baron 31-08-2013 03:36 PM

Not done an awful lot to her in the last year other than drive her and a service. Had a fresh MOT this morning with no problems and then treated her to a new set of number plates. Following the crowd with a standard size rear plate and a 3/4 size front.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4666/...5b4fdec1_c.jpg

Decat down pipe is next on the list I think and then start saving the pennies for an STI spoiler and get the arches sorted.

Lucky 31-08-2013 04:20 PM

Looking good Shane.

I must order some plates up too. Looks so much better with the 3/4 front.

Scott.T 31-08-2013 05:07 PM

Think I'll start copyrighting that design. Your not the 1st one to use exact same colour and design as mine.

Red Baron 31-08-2013 05:20 PM

I hadn't realised it was exactly the same until I saw the picture of yours last night. I tried it with a red border and a red to silver and it didn't look right, didnt like any of the other logos either.

Biggest form of flattery mate! I think mine will be the same. Maybe it'll become an SES thing!!

scooby doo 01-09-2013 12:54 PM

very nice looking. is it a ppp model, really like the wheels.

Red Baron 01-09-2013 01:58 PM

No, it has a Prodrive Backbox but following yesterdays MOT we discovered it's actually a modified Newage one. Not sure when the wheels found their way onto it. If anyone has a V6 Prodrive ECU kicking around I could be interested.

Wheels look even better when they manage to keep hold of their Centre Caps!!!

Shane

Red Baron 09-10-2013 01:28 PM

Well, more expense, just like any other Scoob, spotted this at the weekend:

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4701/...8a3b0055_c.jpg

So a set of Godspeed grooved disks and kevlar pads going on at the weekend and then bed them in on the way to Brooklands on the Sunday.

Going through the paperwork it's had a set of cheap disks and pads in the past from ebay but those pads aren't cheap ones, guess the guy before me put some decent ones in for the track days he did and the disks couldn't cope with the heat they generated. Lucky I spotted it really.

Shane

simba 09-10-2013 05:11 PM

**** ! yep more money to spend least you spotted it mate

Shane

Is it my eyes or are those pads in the wrong way round?

Did you go to Alyn at AS Performance? if not you should have done for the new discs...

No i think you could be right there mate, they do appear to be in the wrong way round.

SamSTI 09-10-2013 06:53 PM

Very well spotted Shane.

Red Baron 09-10-2013 08:53 PM

Did speek to Alyn but was on a budget and got a deal from Godspeed for disks and pads. Pads were in it when I got it, no idea if they're round the wrong way or not but will double check everything when I change them at the weekend

Bolesroor 09-10-2013 11:02 PM

Good spot that man :ok: Perhaps we should call you Hawkeye?

Ginola 09-10-2013 11:23 PM

look to be the right way round (otherwise you would see 2 locator pin holes in the pads there?)
Disc looks properly finished!

Which pads did you go with from Graham?

Red Baron 10-10-2013 06:18 AM

Just his standard kevlar pads Dave, probably similar to the ones I was going to have off you.

Red Baron 11-05-2014 04:52 PM

Out with the new,in with the old

Picked up a new interior yesterday, leather was nice but a bit slippery and hot when the sun comes out. I must be the only person that fits an older cloth interior in place of a later leather one.

Should have shed a few kilos as well getting rid of the folding rear seats.

Old style is just foam and wire

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4669/...931cba01_c.jpg

Loads of metal on the later ones

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4751/...5da6727b_c.jpg

Scott.T 11-05-2014 05:09 PM

they look in good knick, and the colours go well with the red bodywork

Red Baron 11-05-2014 05:22 PM

A couple of small marks but very little wear, will come up really well with a good clean. And they sit a bit lower so I've gained an inch or so in head room.

Ginola 11-05-2014 09:42 PM

Always nice to have a bit more headroom, part of me is tempted to retro fit classic interior in my newage, I still maintain the classic seats are the most comfortable!

Red Baron 12-05-2014 10:23 AM

Bloody sun roof restricts my headroom even more so I need every bit I can get. Almost empted to whack a Carbon Fibre roof on it and bin the sunroof rather than get the rust repaired.

Tell me about it my head is planted on the inside of the roof of mine, classic seats sit so much lower in a newage wish i had kept my last ones i bought to try and put one in this one as pissing me off again every time i hit a hole/speed bump etc.

ps seats look good and in great nick as well

Red Baron 07-06-2014 01:23 PM

Well, managed a hour or so tinkering time before the thunder storm and finished my DIY PPP conversion.

The car already had the Prodrive back box when I bought it plus the optional Speedline ST2 wheels. First change was the De Cat down pipe, I know the PPP involved binning the centre cat rather than the one in the down pipe but I'm not trying to meet emission regulations, parts to fit it were half the price of the downpipe.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4652/...0b79d677_c.jpg

A few months ago I picked up a V5/6 PPP ECU and have been running that for the last few months with no problems, this should peak at 1.1 bar rather than the standard ECUs 1 bar.

And finally I picked up the proper Intercooler pipework this week.

Comparing the original plastic pipework and the replacement Alloy/silicon combination it should improve airflow through the intercooler considerably.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4670/...203898bc_c.jpg

It's also nice seeing prodrive written on bits under the bonnet :)

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4756/...b8e5a256_c.jpg

Next stop is SRR next month to see whether I've wasted my money on the ECU or not as I have my doubts over it's authenticity.

Bearo 10-06-2014 11:43 PM

Nice one and good luck @ SRR.

Are those ST2's 17" on standard springs?

Do you know how roughly how the parts are for the PPP conversion?

Cheers

Red Baron 11-06-2014 06:20 AM

Yep, suspension is standard at the moment and the wheels are 17".

Think you were after the cost of the bits for the PPP, not exactly clear:

ECU: £100-£150
Backbox: £100
Downpipe: £75
Intercooler Pipe: £25-£50

All prices are second hand obviously and are for MY99/00, not sure if it was available for earlier UK cars.

Shane

Bearo 11-06-2014 02:14 PM

Sorry mate was a long day, lol.

Mines a MY01 so hopefully still compatible!

I think that's quite reasonable, if its all plug and play.

Thanks for that

Red Baron 11-06-2014 02:24 PM

Original PPP brochure from Subaru and Prodrive

http://www.subaruclub.net/foorum_pic...mpreza-PPP.pdf

Is yours a 2001 Bug eye or last of the classics?

Bearo 11-06-2014 10:58 PM

Last of the classics mate and trying hard to keep it standard but I see things like this and the mind wanders....

Red Baron 12-06-2014 07:59 AM

Well I'm toying with getting my original ECU remapped in the future so if my current PPP one turns out to be original I'll let you know. Need to save my pennies to get the body work sorted first though.

Red Baron 13-09-2014 08:45 PM

Couple of minor updates, finally had the old rust bucket dynoed at the SES rolling road day and was chuffed with the results for 15 year old car, running spot on and it's found over 30bhp since leaving the factory.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4760/...b804d6a8_c.jpg

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4751/...125ac24b_c.jpg

Since then it's all been cosmetic other than an MOT

Zero Sport slam panel and a set of bonnet lifters

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4740/...45abd809_c.jpg

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4666/...b5cdecf5_c.jpg

And then today some silicone coolant hoses that I've had kicking around for months and some fresh paint on the alternator cover and radiator brackets

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4704/...5f4396fc_c.jpg

Next stop, rusty wheel arches!!!!

Mortster 13-09-2014 10:15 PM

Sell me your wheels

Looking good now. Have you one bonnet lifter or 2?

Red Baron 15-09-2014 01:03 PM

It's a pair Nick, not enough strength in one to hold it up, may get away with one on an alloy bonnet. Have noticed there's 2 types available for the Classic, the ones on Scotts are shorter and mount on the next wing bolt back which means you can keep the rubber bump stops on top of the wings.

Wheels are staying I'm afraid, don't want to go to 18s and not nothing else in a 17 that I like. Not only that, I'm lucky enough to have a spare ST2 in the garage in perfect condition in case I damage one.

Red Baron 20-09-2014 05:59 PM

I've never driven it in the fog anyway so a splash of paint and some eBay stickers and all sorted.
